I personally think the amount of stock is far higher than people expected

There is absolutely no way for anyone here to know this. Shipping slipped almost immediately from Apple, and within an hour or two dropped to 5-6 weeks. This can be due to: A) Stock was extremely low, and demand was fairly low, allowing for those who are quick to get them fast, but stock to run out quickly anyway. B) Stock was fairly decent, and there was good demand. C) Stock was huge, but demand was astronomical.

There's simply no way for us to know where on that line of stock vs. demand this lies. They could have sold 2 million phones or 20 million phones.

I agree. I made the same post about the 8/+ actually. But I think in reality it’s not as much of a flop as it’s just splitting up the sales between too many new models. Also, less color choices and storage choices probably made it easier to boost supplies.

It wasn’t a flop. It didn’t sell out in 5 minutes everywhere as many expected, but that doesn’t make it a flop.

Keep in mind, this year, the 8/8 Plus preceded it. That took a slice of customers away regardless of how ever many there were. It also looks like the major carriers, like Verizon and AT&T, made sure they had enough stock for their own customers.

It made sense that Apple Times slipped so quickly when they are selling to populations in 55 countries vs carriers selling only to their customers with accounts. Plus, Apple likes lines and they said they will have stock for launch day walk-ins. They saved some for them also.

Nah 5-6 week delay after an iPhone was already released in September as well, I'd say it will be a success. It's only been a few hours, ppl not die hards like us will begin ordering in the coming days as well.

Hours later and there are still some configurations available for launch day delivery. Carriers have them for launch day delivery as well.

Weren't numerous articles published recently that said they were intentionally holding stock for launch day? All configurations are currently on a 5-6 week wait and it's not even 8am on the west coast. Within 3 hours they were up to a 3-4 week wait (based on other posts here in the forums). I'd hardly call that a flop. Sounds more like they intentionally held some stock back to get people to stand in line hoping if people stood there even if the X was sold out by the time they got in they'd at least buy something rather than go home empty handed.

You're desperate, are you? You & those who liked your post. 🙂

Bingo. Lot of threads here where people said some pretty rude things about people not waiting for the X because supposedly you'd be able to walk in at noon on launch day and buy the X. They have to deflect for why they were wrong now. I saw a couple other threads where naysayers are bashing pre-orders now and trying to say just go to the store every 3 days at opening and see if they get more in stock lol.

I don’t trust carrier info. Especially AT&T. They are notorious for saying one shipping date and then emailing you later with a later shipping date. I’ve had bad experiences. Who know if those dates are actually accurate. Apple’s website is always more accurate in my experience.

Seems like the carriers got most of the stock. I expected more people to ‘rent’ this device instead of buying it.
Still there is no such indication that it is currently flopping. Shipping times are pushing out to two months right now in random vendors.
I remember getting my iPhone 6 just under a month after release at a Sprint store while people were still waiting on their preorders.

It's more like Apple probably will have more effective supply chain management than originally anticipated because the iPhone 7/7+ had worse shipping times at the time of pre-order than the iPhone X.

I plan on doing it the old fashion way. Line up and hope. They probably are reserving some for walk-ins. Even if it flopped, it still wouldn't be as shocking as last year's election.

Supply constraints = FAKE NEWS

No "probably" - they are reserving some for walk-ins. They said that. I'm guessing the number per store is likely going to be based on the sales that store does...so the busier the store, the more volume. But, then, they also could have picked the ones where they'll get the biggest press coverage. 🙂

One model of the 7+, the jet black, was the only one displaying a deployment time of longer than 2-3 weeks.
All the models of the iPhone x is displaying 5-6 weeks shipping time.

People, stop quoting me and saying "where do you see launch day??? it says 2-3 months to deliver". I created this thread hours ago, HOURS AGO. At that time, launch day deliveries were still available.

Duh!!!!

That hasn’t happened to me yet. AT&T has been accurate so far.
