Just picked up my new case from Best Buy in preparation of my iPhone X coming Nov 3rd, and although I saw the picture comparisons, now that I'm holding my iPhone X case next to my iPhone 6s Plus, the iPhone X is small and a little disappointing. I guess I’m wanting an iPhone X Plus with a 6.5 or 7’ screen. This is bothering more than the notch!
Icons are smaller, text is smaller, I have to put on reading glasses and typing is problematic

Only if you include bezels in your measurements. This is so ridiculous.

...why? Your screen...you know...that bit you actually use...will be the same size.
Not the same size. Everything is smaller

Should not have been a surprise. The screen is the size I enjoy and I kind of like the overall size of the phone being smaller. I have a feeling most people who have an issue will adjust to it right away. I've mostly forgotten the notch is even there already.

I don't necessarily mind that the screen is tall and narrow what I do mind is how bad unoptimized apps letterbox and leave so much screen unused..also I hate how much space is left underneath the virtual keyboards...I hope to go apple changes this as once again it's just unused space.

And this is why I’m so excited for the iPhone X. Don’t like those fat plus size models.

I want the 4.7 iPhone size with a bigger screen an that’s what the iPhone X gives me.

I’m sooo happy :)

It’s coming on launch day pre ordered with my carrier Silver version :)

I also think those who like plus size phones should just stick to plus size models.

Just picked up a x this morning. I got it for the same. Shame that its almost idenical screen size in portrait mode as the 4.7 model. Only bigger in landscape mode. Wish they would have made it a little wider.

My bet is that after people use it on a daily basis... the marginal difference will be negligible in the overall enjoyment of the device.

Yes.

Sure it feels skinnier than the plus which I also have. Definitely takes some getting used to. And you lose the split view in landscape. But it IS wider than the 6/7/8. Psychologically over time it’s easy enough to adapt to being a plus owner. I wish it was a little wider. But not much.

All in all a good compromise seeing as the body of the phone is SO much smaller vs what you lose on screen.

Maybe i should refund this piece of crap and wait to see what Samsung will be coming up with on the new Galaxy S9 or Galaxy X whatever theyre gonna call it

The decision is much harder for me as I have both the 8 Plus and the X. I miss the 'heft' as I have had plus models for years. I'm trying hard to ignore the notch. The text is noticeably smaller (turning 50 in 9 days).

Do I like the X? Yes. Love it? Not at all.

The original justification was that my daughter needs a phone for Christmas. The wife hates big phones and wants a 6. My daughter was supposed to get her 5S, but it's only 16GB. Not sure my daughter, who is 16, is ready for an 8 Plus. May end up finding a buy one get one free on the 8 and that will take care of both of them.

My first reaction was “wow it feels small” but I’m not sure if that’s more of an optical illusion given the actual size of the screen rather than the device.

I think what would have been perfect would have been an iPhone X that was physically the same size as the iPhone 8 Plus but with the new screen format.

Maybe that’s what the next iPhone will be, an iPhone X plus, I’d sell a kidney for one of those.

Had the 6 plus. Got the X yesterday. For the first 5 minutes it was like, woah, this is so much smaller than the plus (the physical body). Now that I've had it for 12 hours -- it's fine. Screen is fine. Easier to pocket and hold than 6 plus. Also, the 6 plus ran horribly on ios 11 (lots of pauses and stutters). I'm glad I made the move. If they come out with an X plus next year, maybe I'll buy that, but for now, it's fine. It is slightly less wide, but the same screen size basically in portrait. Landscape you lose a bit, but watching full screen videos is still cool (and the notch is not a big deal). But guess what, 90% of the time I'm in portrait, so landscape doesn't really matter.

Oh, and FaceID is freekin amazing. Super fast and way way (did I say way) better than touch ID. No needing to line up your finger right or mistakenly pull up siri. And FaceID is used for websites too. Very cool and slick -- and lightning quick.

I wouldn’t want it to be wider that’s going into phablet territory. And would be harder to hold.

Landscape is exactly what I want from it as I show my tv shows to an from work an YouTube vids all in landscape.

Portrait mode is for messaging an reading sites an the size is already perfect for that.

Hmmmm, really?? the actual screen size is the same as iPhone 7 plus so how is that possible? Am i missing something LOL?

2 years with the plus iPhones . I’m so glad to be Back to a decent size phone . I’m 6”4 with huge hands . I was underwhelmed at first and now I’m in love with the X ..
Yes same, at first I was a little underwhelmed, but now today, did my own crazy comparison with my 7 plus and you can view even more info on the same webpage on the X compared to the 7 PLUS, and it fits nicely in the pocket and doesn't weigh too much.. nice little device! especially loving the silver :)

It's actually taller but a bit narrower (maybe between 1/8 and 1/4 inch narrower screen?), but only a few % overall screen area difference though.

The taller aspect ration and higher resolution do make a difference though.

After having both the IPhone X and 8 plus in my hands, I can tell you the actual usable screen on the X is about 1/4 in taller and the 8 plus is about 1/4 wider. If you are a past plus user you will be highly disappointed with the X screen. If you read some reviews, some of them explain although the X is 5.8 vs 8Plus being 5.5 , due to the aspect ratio, the 8 plus has more viewable screen, not even including the loss of the notch. The x is nearly the exact same width as the standard 6s, 7 and 8.
