iPhone X is small and a little disappointing

Yeah if you have a 256gb version, more of your photos are actually being put on the phone. It will be busy for the next few days.
Hoping that's what it is... I'll give it a few days to figure it out before getting too invested in erasing settings, etc.. :)

Just picked up my new case from Best Buy in preparation of my iPhone X coming Nov 3rd, and although I saw the picture comparisons, now that I'm holding my iPhone X case next to my iPhone 6s Plus, the iPhone X is small and a little disappointing. I guess I’m wanting an iPhone X Plus with a 6.5 or 7’ screen. This is bothering more than the notch!
The X size is perfect. After using it a bit, I am no longer fond of plus size. I am glad that with the current size, iPhone X has the same power and RAM like plus. Glad to be over with the plus.

Face ID - It works really well and makes the idea of touching your device to authenticate and needing a finger sized sensor to do this seem dated. I like the idea that your phone is aware of when it's owner is using it and authenticates on it's own.

Display - I like the way the glass seems thinner than the 8 Plus. I'm not an OLED fan and I hate the garish Samsung phone displays put the X display is acceptable. The display on the 8 Plus is really good though and side by side with matched brightness they are close. Both displays have their issues, the X has a slight pentile fuzz and the 8 Plus has less legibility. If only the X display was 5mm wider....

Size - This is both a complaint and a feature and it's clear that Apple chose this size so as not to alienate those who need smaller phones, and also to have something that would draw in Plus users. For me this means the first time in ages that I can fit my phone in any pocket I have.

Build - The X is gorgeous, and the build makes the 8 Plus look very "glass sandwich".

So compromises, pluses and negatives.

Finger size sensor yes, but you still need your finger to unlock and kind of makes the finger print gesture and unlockimg redundant. I would be happy with having both, noticing that when phone is flat on the table need to lean in or pick it up a bit.

Maybe itll grow on me in few weeks, but as of right now, Im actually upset I dont like it.

from previous experience (setting up anew phone with an iCloud photo library of over 100k photos) battery life will be dismal while the phone updates your photo library and other things. I'd say after that is all done it'll be back to normal.

I've been a 6 Plus then 7 Plus user and absolutely loved the screen size. I got the iPhone X on Friday. After using it for 2 days, I think I'm gonna have to get the 8 Plus instead. I'm trying really hard to love the screen ratio but it just looks too tall and narrow. I'm missing the landscape mode from the Plus and it's annoying that there's no room to display the battery percentage meaning you have to swipe down every time you want to see it. I like the new swiping gestures (some of which they could actually incorporate now on the Plus), Face ID and Animojis are fun for a while. I really think Apple will release an X Plus in the future. Why they opted for this screen ratio is a mystery to me. I still have my 7 Plus (soon to be eBayed) but will take advantage of Apple's return policy and mess about with both for a few more days until I return the X. Loving the wireless charging btw (which is also available on the 8 Plus!) :)

Yeah, battery is bothering me, especially on the lock screen, with quick glance we were able to see it, now we need to swipe, also the task manager with force close is annoying and stopping just at right point, especially annoying when need to look at previous app screen really quick. Gestures some times are very natural and I do think would make a lot of sense on the 8 plus, but some times are very annoying and in a quick on the fly tasks get a bit confusing, might be just too new to me. Really leaning towards going back to 8 plus.

Battery seem to be worse then 8, and seems by far, I would say 2 hours difference, I dont have icloud photos and restore is fully finished, everything is iTunes sync and phone seems to be working normally. This is 256 t-mo phone.
[doublepost=1509917955][/doublepost]One more thing bothers me a lot actually, after face ID unlock, if you dont swipe from all the way on the buttom, it starts scrolling notifications.

Also with regards to the screen, Apple have apparently said to expect some image burn in on the OLED panel. That ain’t gonna help when you sell it on ebay when you next upgrade. The phone will be devalued even more.

I played with an X at an Apple store today

Because of the combo of the narrower screen and software bars due to the notch, landscape media looks notably smaller on an x than the 7+/8+. I wish I took a photo, but it is pretty obvious

On the other hand, the OLED screen is just beautiful, and the X is easier to hold in one hand and does offer more real estate than an 7/8

I didn’t get a chance to try FaceId, but obviously it runs iOS as well as any other iPhone. The swiping UI seems pretty intuitive

Great looking phone in silver. Can’t wait to see what the gold looks like (you know it will be released eventually, in a Xs at the latest), it would be pretty ridiculous if they eventually release a model with actual gold trim across the edges

This is interesting!

I just can’t get past Apple keeping Plus design for 4 years. At some point, you wanna have something different... that’s why I can’t go to the Plus models.

I’m coming from a 7 Plus and wireless charging isn’t something I’ve been anxious for. I had a Galaxy phone that had wireless charging and it cool, but not anything to get crazy about.

I’m not even planning on buying a wireless charger, I have some iPad chargers laying around the house that I prefer using.

The iPad charger is faster and more environmentally friendly. Wireless charging has massive amount of energy inefficiency in its delivery, especially thru heat conversion.

...the screen on the X is basically the same size as your 6s Plus. You didn't lose anything other than useless bezels.
There is a lot of wiggle room in "basically", The X screen is narrower and for those of us with decent-sized hands used to the + line it really is a step in the wrong direction in terms of physical space. GUTTED!

Lots of inventory/parts, cheaper to make over time, more options for consumers. They seem like reasonable answers to why apple kept the plus design.

I'm curious to see how the inductive charging performs. It's not that I'm expecting fast charge wirelessly, but rather the convenience of having the X sit on a stand at my desk, allowing me to come and go without having to plug in each time.

Maybe also for bed-side use, although it's not exactly difficult to plug in the phone before bed, so that when I wake in the morning it's fully charged.

I would bet that the simplicity of just setting the phone down for charging will become the norm for most people (at some point in the future) and the idea of plugging in will seem old fashioned at that point.

I bought the iphone X and wireless chargers for my desk at work and my night stand. Essentially, the phone is at 100% all day long. It's really excellent. I'm using the small 5w Apple cube which is not fast, but the phone never gets hot.

However, I'm returning my X tomorrow and getting an 8+. The screen is just a bit too narrow and I prefer Touch ID.

Upon opening the box, I was not too impressed. I mean it’s certainly a beautiful piece of tech, but wasn’t swept away. However, after a few days with it, the previous iPhones feels old/outdated. I have grown to love the X. I’d love an X Plus, but this will do nicely for a year. Terrific hardware

I've grown to love the X too. I'm getting crazy battery life, especially when reading books with a black background and white text, since that color uses less power. I still have my 7+ on my other line, and you wouldn't believe how often I swipe up on the screen to go home or to open the app switcher but get the control panel instead. I don't even know what to do with an older iPhone with home button anymore.

I used to use the 7+ on my main line and a 6 on another line, but moved the 7+ to the other line and the X is my primary. I can still do most everything on the X that I did on the 7+, but do miss the landscape mode and having the 2-column mode in the native apps.

How quickly everyone forgets how long they had to wait to get a plus sized phone. If all the apps, web, and videos utilized the iphone x screen size then maybe. But after testing myself before I decided, they do not. The “Phone” screen is descent, but the area it utilizes for apps, web, and videos is no bigger than the iphone 8 - 4.7 inch screen. I choose the iphone 8 plus this time around. Next year i’m sure they will make it larger so everything doesn’t have to be cropped or all the extra space at the top and bottom completed wasted. FYI open each app side by side in your plus phone and iphone x and you too will see the screen size scam.

iPhone X is ONLY SMALL if it's compared to an iPad especially when u compared X to iPad to play games, browse the web or watch a movie.

iPhone X doesn't look small at all compared to 5.5"-6.4" Phones out there, its just the physical size being small, smaller bezels even smaller than galaxy s8 thats why it feels small. But its screen isn't.

Unfortunately this sinply isn’t true. The keyboard is tiny and cramped compared to a +. Apps that utilize landscape mode are much, much smaller on an X.

So while technically the X may be approaching the same number of pixels as a +, functionally it doesn’t even come close.

God tho, the plus looks soooooo outdated. Especially having been at Verizon yesterday seeing google pixel or note 8. 7 plus is YEARS BEHIND. x is in the current thinking.

Maybe. But for some people, the iPhone X is really awkward to use. I spend too much time on my phone and working remotely to have a device that's actually an aggravation to use.

I have a wireless charger by the bed on my desk at work. I usually get to bed after my spouse and am up before him so it nice to be able to just put my X on the charger and not look for and plug in the lightening cord (which often has been bumped off my nightable by the cat!). At work, I can just pop on and off as needed and as I leave my desk. It is not onerous to use a plug of course, but there is a really nice “ease of use” and simplification of charging with the wireless.

Yeah but you can get more done on the X, it’s faster, a bit smaller, more discrete so you can get more work done anywhere!
