I am a long time fan of folio cases, never had any problems taking pictures or with usability due to the screen cover.
My husband and I have both used the Otterbox Strada cases on our iPhone 7+ for the last year and have loved almost everything about them. These cases have held up really well - a little pricey at about $50 depending on where you buy it but well worth the investment.
Because of the “open to wake” feature of the iPhone X I knew the folio would be a super cool option.
I wanted to try The Apple folio on my IPhone X because I loved the look and expected it to be every bit as nice if not nicer than the Strada case. But since there was a waiting period for delivery of the Apple folio (2-3 week wait on Apple web site). I made the decision to give a less expensive folio a try and I’m so glad that I did.

The ($13) Belk folio has the ($100) Apple folio beat in several ways ~
1. Has opening for ear peace so you can use phone while case is closed (unlike Apple).
2. Magnet holds the front cover closed or opened (unlike Apple) and turns the phone off and on.
3. Belk folio can be placed in a standing position for horizontal viewing of videos/movies (unlike Apple).
4. Bottom of iPhone X is covered for better protection than the Apple case provides.
While I was in the Apple store last night I compared them and I can tell you that they both look and feel like quality leather. But I don’t know why Apple would make a folio that won’t reposition into a stand for viewing videos/movies or stay closed in a purse or back pack ~ I know from past experience that if you drop a phone in a folio that doesn’t have a magnet or some kind of flap to keep it closed then it’s quite likely that the front cover will pop open and allow your screen to be damaged.
So honestly even if these cases were the exact same price I would pick the Belk folio or even a Strada folio because even the Strada will have the same features of the Belk ~ the very features that make having a folio worth buying and I’ll never understand why Apple left out these key features.
