Hasn’t the Plus versions outsold the non Plus versions implying that a slightly larger X wouldn’t have any problems selling?

The Plus version's sold well against the non-Plus versions on occasion because there was no reason for the non-Plus people to upgrade from the iPhone 6 to the 6S or the 7. It's the 8 and X that bring features compelling enough to get he majority of users to upgrade, that will swing the sales towards the non-Plus side again.

5 years from now when it’s gone, the notch will be laughed at.

No. That would be the forehead and chin of the 10 year old model. I don’t laugh when I see an iPhone 5/6/7/8. That would be rude. But I do snicker quietly. “Heh heh heh” like that.

I have an X and don’t like the notch. I do like the size and camera though.

Honestly there are very rare if any cases where I feel a product is absolutely perfect.

Good point.

What I find amusing are the people who act like having a mole on her nose is something she or you wanted or decided to do even if you’re given the option not to.

Well... apparently whatever my opinion was my post has been deleted. Thanks for responding, but I cant even refer to my original post because it was quietly and mysteriously deleted. At least when I get suspended I know why. This is not the first time one of my posts mysteriously disappeared. Sometimes I think why bother spending the time typing a response, when it can get erased in a heartbeat.

I personally never had a complaint about the forehead or chin although I don’t miss them either lol.

Sort of miss the fingerprint scanner though.

So does that mean that 5 years from now the home button will be laughed at since Apple and technology has rendered it obsolete? If the notch is gone 5 years from now then so be it but that will not have meant it was a failure. 5 years in technology time is about 20 years in normal time so of course the notch will be gone at some point.

Heck maybe Martians will land tomorrow and offer us tech advancements.............

Agree.. When you see an iPhone X next to an 8 Plus, the plus looks old, dated and worn out..

I was back and forth for like two weeks but ultimately what tipped me over the edge and into the 8plus camp was:
1) I am used to a larger form factor so I can't go back something smaller even if the screen is larger
2) I am highly OCD and triggered by stupid things like the notch.

My eyes were always going to go to that notch. I got the phone and used it for a week. It is absolutely a great device, but I am not ready to make the switch just yet. I think maybe the X2 or Xplus or whatever they end up calling it will be when I finally switch. I know eventually the notch will disappear, but to me it is an eyesore. It does give the device character, but it's not the type of character I want.

Your 'actual' definition is incorrect as I have demonstrated. But yes, thank you for your input.

Why do you think it says notch in the title of this thread and not bezel?

Honestly you’re the first person I’ve come across who revers to the notch as a short bezel. Honestly kind of feel like you’re messing with me now lol

LOL...I assure you I am not messing with you. I am no fan of the 'notch', but I do understand why it's there and what it is. It's a shortened bezel, or abbreviated bezel as someone has pointed out. Extend the 'Notch' left and right, and there is your normal forehead bezel. Now carrier, battery, wifi icons are moved below the bezel. Honestly your issue is not with the 'Notch', but rather with the the display that wraps around the bezel creating the term 'notch'. If Apple had blackened out the area to the left and right of the 'notch' causing a software bezel, this argument would be moot. The display would not extend to the left and right of the 'notch' and we would have a normal forehead bezel with the notch still containing the true depth camera.

My issue isn’t with the bezel or the “ears”, it’s with the notch that is cut into my 5.8” display.

bez·el
ˈbezəl/
noun
  1. a grooved ring holding the glass or plastic cover of a watch face or other instrument in position.
  2. a groove holding the crystal of a watch or the stone of a gem in its setting.
notch
näCH/
noun
  1. 1.
an indentation or incision on an edge or surface.
"there was a notch in the end of the arrow for the bowstring"
  2. 2.
    NORTH AMERICAN
    a deep, narrow mountain pass.
I’d like the UX of viewing media on a screen to be like it is and has been on every other screen since I discovered what a tv was as a child, notch less. Bezels have been there forever, a notch hasn’t

Wrong definition applied. Wonder if you are messing with me...LOL. If the notch were extended it would be....a normal bezel. Instead, apple shortened this same bezel which you are calling a notch. Any previous model of iPhone could have had the bezel shortened and we would be left with this 'notch' you speak of.
Any way, beating a dead horse. This is the last Ill say on the topic. I will be moving along now :)

Don’t see how I can get a more black and white, factually correct, dictionary based description of a notch and bezel but ok. Go with what you feel lol.

GOOD DAY SIR

This whole fiasco is because of this BS statement. "Our vision has always been to create an iPhone that is entirely screen" Yeah ok but I still see a Notch preventing a "full screen". ;)
Without some form of bezel, where would they put the true depth camera and sensors?
I guess one way would be like the Vivo Apex which adds a pop up that contains the camera and sensors while the phone is all screen.

Said it once and I’ll say it again. The notch is brilliant precisely because of the huge volume of discussion it creates. A distinctive, iconic element that is polarizing and stimulates debate. Marketing 101.

That it is. It does create controversy. But like anything else, the notch will subside with those who have so much angst against it. It really isn’t that big of a deal, some like to make a bigger deal than it really is.
