A few things.
1. Verizon 256gb Verizon and spring phones still seem plentiful for nov 3 in store pickup as of 1am pacific in Boston area. Still. As of 4 am. Forget about ATT though.
2. I bought ATT which went fast. I did Apple Pay for in store pickup. It seems to have charged zero dollars. I wonder if final payment only goes through on pickup.

Situation in the Czech Republic: web went online at **:10min, app went online at **:22min, right from beginning delivery time 4-5w for all models...

Completed pre-approval for upgrade earlier this week.

Tonight: iPhone app would not load until 12:05. Website would not load. Then website up -- told me to use app. Completion of order in a few secs. Said I would get an e-mail. App tells me upgrade is pending; website says my orders cannot be delayed.

Weak.

Same scenario here. I eventually got an email and my order showed on both Apple store app and website.

Yeah, it was lame. I kept refreshing for 13 minutes here on the East Coast (US). I finally gave up, spoofed my IP to represent a West Coast (US) IP and the site came right up. I placed my order (which was now on backorder due to preferential treatment of West Coast buyers). Then I changed my IP back to its normal East Coast IP - and you guessed it. The site was still down saying that it would be up soon to allow orders to be placed. smh.

By 3:20am ET (20 minutes late) the site finally became available to my normal East Coast IP address.

Note to self: For future iPhone purchases, pretend you live on the West Coast (US) in order to get preferential treatment.

My credit card declined using Apple Pay (fraud protection), but I got a confirmation email from Apple. I called the CC company and they lifted the block, but told me to have the merchant re-process the transaction. Will Apply try to re-run the charge when shipping or did this pre-order essentially not go through at all?

....Well that was wack. Apple website and apple store app stayed dark for me until 12:10. By that time it was 1-2 weeks. Verizon let me preorder about 5 minutes early, but had the wrong shipping address (family account) and wouldn't let me change it. Apple finally let me in and I went through the preorder process on the website, only for it not to be able to confirm with Verizon. So I ended up with a reservation number saying they reserved my phone and would email me to finish the sale. That page went away on its on (timed out) and it didn't ever send me that email even after waiting 30 minutes. So I went back into the apple store app on my phone and it let me make the preorder and pickup in the store for nov 3 (an option I didn't hear anyone talk about before today) and let me finish the transaction and put some money down on the device.

Anyone have a similar experience with the reservation and then ordered it anyway using another app?

Yes, I used website when it first opened and got a reservation number. Ordered 40 minutes later and shipping times were 3-4 weeks but in store pickup for my area was still nov. 3rd so I bought one for instore pickup.

Apple store in Boston still has Verizon SG 256 available for pickup over an hour later ‍♂️
 
When do you pay for preorder? I made one but Apple still didn't take my money ;) Is it just before shipping or in 2-3 days after recieving invoice (they say it will be ready in 2-3 days)?
You pay when it’s ready for pickup or shipped, they may do a verification charge to the card but the final payment won’t come through until the date.
 
IUP upgrade here (not new customer).

I was preapproved. Got to the final purchase screen and hit buy. A big error message came through that was kind of cryptic. Hit OK and then buy again. Did this a handful of times. It never did a big order placed screen. So I hit cancel and went to restart the process and it just says your iPhone upgrade is pending. Check order history.

I realize everyone is getting this but am I screwed cus I never saw the order placed screen? Can’t even get in to try again...ugh.

If you pick it up instore there are still models available.
 
what sucks is that apple seems to throttle access to the store, some people not being able to get in for a while, and by that time the delivery dates have pushed out.

Sorry for the people who missed launch and were at their computers / devices before pre-order opened
 
That was a horrible experience - using the iPhone app, it was a while before it actually loaded, then added to cart with a delivery for 3 Nov, but then wouldn't go past the credit card screen for some reason. Eventually got on the store on my MBP but was out to 4 Dec by then! Dumb.

Nightmare. Glitch I guess? I'm amazed anyone has a Nov 3 date at all. I did everything right.

I go back, go forward, Buy AGAIN, see a shopping cart' Yes please already.

2-3 weeks. 11/17-24 Hoping we are surprised and get them sooner.
 
The order method in Canada was so well done for cell providers. You pre-registered to have an email sent when the phone was available. Then all you had to do was link account, choose phone, and pay. So easy, did it all in 2 minutes. I was nervous that I wasn't going to get a good shipping date cause when payment was going through an error came up, but then I got an email saying that my order would be shipping on Nov 2nd just in time for the 3rd.
 
Hit Verizon through their website (vs. the app) at 2:58a (EST), completed the order in like 2-3 minutes, no page loading issues (everything was fast), got my confirmation email almost immediately for an 11/03 delivery, iPX Silver 64GB. In fact, when I got my confirmation email, the Apple.com site still had the "maintenance" page up :D

Upgraded through IUP 256 space gray ATT around 3:10am eastern. It said pickup in store in 11/3. An hour later and I still haven't got a confirmation email. Anyone else in a similar situation?
