It honestly just looks like they don't have True Tone turned on in display settings. I just turned mine off and the screen's white point shifted towards being more blue than more natural. Turned it back on and the problem was fixed.

That's probably the case. But I do remember seeing a video of the X really blue at an angle and the person that shot it gave an update stating his camera was set up incorrectly.

They could even just fill in the grey background with black and make the globe/dictation buttons white so that the black area looks like bezel. The grey just highlights the emptiness.

It's like the giant headers at the top of Apple apps. I love what Messages looks like when the big "MESSAGES" header with search bar starts off hidden.
How did you do that? That header is annoying AF. Can't find that setting under the regular Messages section in Settings.

have just noticed as well that FaceID does not work in landscape mode and you can't turn the home screen on its side.
These plus the fact that Face ID didn’t work well at all for my most common use cases (flat on desk or beside me) made me go for the 8 plus instead. This feels like more of an upgrade from the 7/8 phone size and less so from the plus models. Screen is pretty though.

If you're excited about ios 12 or 13..... That speaks of the quality of the current iPhone or iOS....

I'm really looking forward for the iPhone's in 2018; I hope they have a iPhone X "plus"
Honestly mean it in the sense that there are some seeds planted for some really cool os changes.

I've found the same, for me, it works upto about a 45º angle.

Maybe if you register your face at a 45º angle, that would enable you to unlock with face ID in landscape! , albeit only one way in landscape!

we must remember that apple still must make an ios11 specific for ipad normal iphones and now for iphone x.
Next year, when probably we will have 2 X design models,we will have a more centric iOS for this

Everyone that is having an issue with landscape and FaceID while laying down:

When you are laying down and using your phone, turn on orientation lock. FaceID will work just fine.

I find orientation lock is a must for horizontal use (for lack of a better word).

* This won't work if you are sitting/standing upright and using your phone in landscape.

There is no setting; I did it manually by just scrolling it away and leaving it that way. Will only last until the phone reboots.

Muench's mockup with the emojis over the bar are way to crowded, IMO, for such a crucial control area. You don't want to go for the bar and get an emoji.

And I had to laugh a little bit... as while I *love* Todoist in terms of being one of the best todo type apps around, the UI isn't exactly great (for one, it relies way too heavily on 'natural language' input instead of having direct controls). It could use a lot of work (and I've suggested a number of improvements over the last couple of years).

And Apple still has 'Human Interface Guidelines'? I thought they'd kind of given up on good UI. ;)

On pre-X iPhones my success rate in swiping up from the bottom to open Control Centre while a keyboard was on the screen was probably about 5%. So I got in the habit of closing the app with the keyboard so I could swipe up.

On the iPhone X, swiping up is not only more important - for changing apps - but if you have reachability turned on, you also have to be able to swipe down on the bar. I’d expect slim to no cvjance of doing that successfully if keyboard buttons were placed above the Home bar.

I'm in the minority but I do like the smaller keyboard / emoji section. It gives you the space to not click the world emoji and stuff. I think it's neat, but I do see how people could find the change, ahem, drastic.

Whole iOS poorly uses the bigger realestate on the X. It's like Apple software team had no idea the X is coming out and it surprised them completely.

iPhone X owners can shut the hell up. They don't get complain after all the sane legitimate issues were pointed out & they were just "I don't care, shiny, new, me wantee".

To use that notch lovers logic. The blank space under the keyboard is "distinctive" & it makes the phone look "uniquely Apple".

But the keyboard being higher, which allows for normal use as it replaces the bezel, is not a legitimate issue. They could have jammed emojis in the void but then it would interfere with reachability and home bar usage.
