Am I the only one who couldn’t care less if I have an OLED or LCD screen? I got the X because I like the new form factor, but I honestly can’t say the screen wows me any more than my 6S Plus screen did.

Is it because I’m now old enough to wear reading glasses that I don’t see a huge difference? Or because I use my phone more for surfing, email and text than photos or video? I mean, yea the screen is nice, but I’d be just as happy with the LCD display I had. Would be happy to go back if and LCD phone is cheaper.

Would the LCD phone have the same other internals as the OLED ones...or will it be a generation behind? i.e., iPhone X internals in LCD phone and the OLED ones get the next A12 chip?

I've got my serious doubts about this. Apple has sold around 225 million total iPhones per year over the past three years and it looks like FY 2018 will remain about the same. Apple is rumored to have a large-screen LCD model coming out next year to compete in the $700 price range, the SE will probably be updated but keep an LCD screen, and the iPhone 8 will likely stick around as the low-cost volume model. That is a lot of LCD models in the mix that will appeal to the mainstream phone buyer.

The AMOLED models are starting at $1,000 and the 6.5" one will likely be $1,150. I don't see 80% of Apple's iPhone mix being AMOLED without a significant price cut. I would expect AMOLED models to total 100 million at best unless the 200 million figure quoted includes Apple watches, a HomePod with some kind of display panel in it, and the touchbar on the MacBook.

the fact that APPLE made all PLUS owners downsize really sucked! so i'm hoping this is really happening next Sept. when new iPhones are released. X now is great but the Plus size will be magnificent!

Lol, the X has a larger display than the plus, but to each their own I guess.

Exactly. I went with the 8 Plus this time and will decide next year which phone to go with. I have the next 10 months to decide if I want to stick with the Plus size. I came from a 6s and while I really like the Plus there are times I wish it was a bit smaller (working out at gym). At least I have time now to think about it and make a good decision if the X plus comes to fruition.
Everyone thinks the decision they made is right and justifies it with reasons they think are great.

I went from 7 Plus to the X, and love the size of the X personally. Still have big screen, but physical size of phone feels a lot smaller and easier to pocket. To each his own, but I wouldn't want anything bigger than the current X.

More like people at Apple...

Apple makes a lot more money selling the entire phone than Samsung makes selling the screen to Apple. Plus, Apple can just walk away when they no longer need Samsung.
That's not how financial windfall celebrations work. Why would Apple be saying cha-ching at a huge expense? Apple's cha-ching comes from you, not Samsung.

Yes Sir, that's my baby..... perhaps the notch might shrink a tiny bit to satisfy the haters?

I seriously doubt that the 2018 iPhone will even have a notch.

This is the first new iPhone I chose not to buy since iPhone 1. I went with 8 Plus. As most my inner circle did.
Those who went with the iPhone X are 100% regretting it.

Not saying that my inner circle is painting a realistic painting of the whole world. But I have never heard my inner circle complain about a new iPhone ever before nor have I seen it preferring an older gen. iPhone over a newer one. This is the case with the iPhone X which if they continue to produce will make me switch to hardware which is capable of solving problems I need solved like quickly unlocking my phone with my HANDs.

If someone prior to iPhone 1 had asked my whether I would like to have phone with touch display and non-static buttons I would have gone 'H.... Yeah'.

Had someone asked me if I would like to be able to unlock my phone with my face I would have gone 'No, please solve problems instead of created them'

It’s not a windfall for Samsung, silly. It’s the same situation as Apple to consumer except it’s business to business. Samsung has a ton of production and setup costs.

They make a profit on the exchange just like Apple, except Apple makes more.

Apple sells more phones because they can market a bigger OLED display. You must be new.

Just nitpicking, but when talking about Samsung Display, it should always be referenced as "Samsung Display", not shorthanded as "Samsung" since the latter usually refers to Samsung Electronics, which is a separate entity than Samsung Display Co, Ltd.

The first sentence was accurate, but it should be consistent throughout to avoid confusion.

Your friends are wrong...the iPhone X is phenomenal and you just want to feel good about not upgrading.

No one needs to justify anything to a group of stranger on the internet. Certainly not me. What makes you think that whatever decision people make is not right for them? It's their decision to make. Not deciding to buy the X this first time around is not a wrong decision, you apparently just disagree with it.

Apple didn't MAKE you do anything. If you downsized, that was on you. I was a 6s+ owner for two years and I had a choice of a new iPhone that was largely identical to what I had, a smaller iPhone with features I didn't care for, or the many other vendor's smartphones that were the size I wanted. I went with the latter, and could be happier. Had a plus sized X been available now, I would have considered it. But given my satisfaction with the Note 8, this bigger iPhone would need to do more for me to want to go back to an iPhone.

eh, no I dont. I actually pre-ordered the iPhone X on day one. But after a family member got it before me I had chance to test it. After spending a few hours with it and seeing the family member's frantic attempts to hold his face right to get the thing to unlock and seeing movie with a notch in the scene, I called my provider and asked them to void the order and ship me an 8 Plus instead.

If you do a little research, you will surely make the experience that I am not the only one.

Samsung Display will supply Apple with between 180 and 200 million flexible OLED displays for the iPhone in 2018, up from an estimated 50 million this year, according to The Korea Herald's sister publication The Investor.

While the report focuses on the iPhone X, it's likely that a portion of the OLED displays will go towards the "iPhone X Plus" rumored to launch alongside the second-generation iPhone X in the second half of 2018.

Like the Galaxy Note 8, the iPhone X Plus is expected to have a 6.4-inch display, but its overall physical size will likely be closer to an iPhone 8 Plus. Meanwhile, the next iPhone X will likely retain its 5.8-inch display.

With both a full year of iPhone X sales and the addition of the iPhone X Plus to the lineup in 2018, Apple will undoubtedly need many more OLED displays, so today's report about Samsung quadrupling its production next year makes sense. Samsung could reportedly gain an extra $22 billion in revenue from the orders.

The report also claims Samsung has achieved around a 90 percent yield rate, compared to around 60 percent earlier this year, meaning it is getting more efficient at making OLED displays that live up to Apple's strict quality standards. This could lead to improved shipping estimates for next year's launch.

The new iPhone X and iPhone X Plus will likely launch around the usual timeframe of September to October, potentially alongside a new 6.1-inch mid-range model with an LCD display that is predicted to start at around $649 to $749.

There's no word on how much the iPhone X Plus could cost yet, but given the iPhone X starts at $999, the larger version should have a four-digit price tag. Apple charges a $100 premium for other Plus-sized iPhones, so it's possible the iPhone X Plus could start at around $1,099, but it's too early to say.

Apple is likely to remain dependent on Samsung for supply of OLED displays next year, but the company is reportedly investing billions into LG building OLED display production lines dedicated to the iPhone by 2019.

Possibly also add Dolby HDR too?

You're right. I can see that now. What was I thinking?

Which is different than my experience. Everyone I know that has an X loves it so far. Different strokes for different folks as they say...

I’m simply telling you everyone thinks their decision is right and they post reasons to justify it.
