If my delivery date is beyond the third week of December, then I will simply cancel my order immediately, and get an iPhone 8 256GB. I have to go back home (christmas & winter break), and I am using a old 5S (really slow), and I cannot wait any longer.

I am used to unboxing my phones in September less than 3 wks after the keynote. December is completely out of the question; my interest is waning by the minute tbh🙄.

Haven't really thought about it to be honest. If I have to wait until February I might keep my 6 Plus or even get a used 7 until Xs is out.

pre orders on the 27th could be a true ''Games of Phones'' chaos.

Imagine you get your shipping time from Apple shortly after pre ordering your iPhone X, with an estimate somewhere near January/February 2018, are you gonna sit out the waiting or do you have a Plan B ready?
cancel order.. buy different phone.

if there are 3 month wait times on the X, Apple has made a huge multi-billion dollar mistake.
they're not that dumb though..

i think people should quit paying attention to "Apple can only make 10k phones per day" or "Apple hasn't even started production" rumors.. (imo)

Haha anyone who believes that 10k phones a day-story probally also believes Trump will finish his 4 years in the Oval Office 😛

Plan A (starting at 11:45 pm pt) - Have my iPad Pro in split screen with the Apple store website and the Apple Store App hitting refresh on the safari page and closing and re-opening the app until pre-orders go live, and will purchase with the 1st one that goes live.

Plan B (starting at 11:45 pm pt) - My wife has agreed to assist me in manning my iPad mini 4 with a split screen of the Verizon website and Verizon app doing the exact same thing as me above - utilizing a temporary 2nd Verizon line that I will activate and add to my exiting line (only $30 activation fee and $20 access fee for 1 month)

Plan C - I will activate and add a 3rd line (another $30 activation fee and $20 access fee for 1 month) and have already been added to a pre-order list at a local Verizon wireless authorized 3rd party store in Manhattan where the store manager will be placing orders for me and others on the list (he does it in bulk at midnight too and has asserted that I will have a phone on launch day). he took down my primary line's number, but will switch that when the 3rd line is activated in 2 weeks.

Will call the bank on Oct 26th to inform them of the imminent charges. If I somehow manage to get all 3 phones on Nov 3rd, then I plan to resell the extra 2 either on eBay or to one of the many characters who line up at the Apple Store to re-sell on the black market, hopefully for a decent profit, and then deactivate those additional 2 lines.

Hate people like you who do this. Hope all your orders get delayed to next year and you are forced to spend 2-3x the price to just get one iPhone X from scalpers doing the same thing as you are planning to do.

I think when forecasters say that Apple supplies will be constrained until 2018, they mean that supply will not equal demand until then. That means that if you place an online order hours or days after the launch you might have a 3-6 week wait but you'll still get your phone before Christmas. However, you won't be able to casually go to an Apple store and expect it to be in stock the same day until 2018. At least, that's my prediction.

My "plan B" is already in effect as I purchased a Note 8 and in many ways it's a fantastic device with a lot of functionality included out of the box that you have to pay extra for with the iPhone X. Nevertheless, I'm gonna try to order an X because I think it will also be a great phone and iMessage and the Apple ecosystem are big pluses. I actually wouldn't mind getting it a few weeks after November 3rd, since real world reviews will be in before then.

I think if the orders really do get backordered terribly (as in months) I'll just get the gold 8+. I'd be happy with either phone really.

lol - I hear you. I really really hate the seedy characters that line-up at the Apple stores in NY only to immediately hand-off their two pick-ups to the kingpin and then go straight to the back of the line. So I decided, well if you don't like them, then just join them 🙂

Doesn't matter to me. I was actually thinking about waiting until the Red version came out. I'll see if I can pre order if not, then I'll wait for the reviews and play with them in the store.

If that happens I would be pretty disappointed, but I would just keep the order in hopes that supply picks up and I get it earlier, in the meantime I would just continue to use my 7+ which I like very much.

I am pre-ordering on the 27th. Whenever it comes, it comes. I do not expect to wait more than 3-4 weeks even if I order a couple of hours after the pre-order begins. If they tell me something crazy like Jan-Feb I will just keep the order, as Apple tends to under-promise and over-deliver in my past experiences.

Can we get a MacRumors Intern to go through all the threads and run an analysis of what the worst delivery date was for people who ordered within the first couple of hours of any iPhone pre-order (filter out for JetBlack)? I have vivid recollection of feeling awful for people who got first week of Oct delivery date (2-3 week windows) for any phone. Maybe a november date for someone wanting a Rose Gold 6s+ 256 GB or something rather.

Point being... people talking about March '18 delivery dates are crazy. AirPods got everyone thinking whacky. This is an iPhone Launch. Even if they 'screw it up' it won't be a 6+ month screw up. If you're waiting 6+ months, check your in-store pick up options every morning and you'll get one. Nobody will be waiting 6 months. Especially nobody that cares enough to frequent this website and post. get serious, people

I won't be preordering, I will go straight to my local Apple Store in the third and get what's available. (x (hopefully) or an 8)

Got a free 64GB iPhone 8 when I added another line via AT&T, so I feel pretty good about using it for a while, even if the X takes several weeks.

My Plan B is to keep the preorder even if shipping date slips to 2018, resell iphoneX if it delivers after Jan 2018, and wait for next year's iPhone X Plus/XI, meantime keep using my 6S Plus.
