Just upgraded to iPhone 8 Plus 64GB and now waiting for 27Oct to pre order the iPhone X 256GB. In case there is a long wait time (weeks or months) I'd be okay to wait.

Btw, iPhone 8 Plus is a solid phone and probably the last from Apple with Touch ID...I think I'm really gonna miss the super fast and convenient Touch ID feature.

Cheers!

I can guarantee you that nobody that orders on the 27th is going to wait for 5 months. There is 0 chance that's gonna happen. If apple is not able to mass produce the phone, they wouldn't have released it. Period.

They weren't able to mass-produce the white iPhone 4. I think that took well over six months to actually become available for purchase.

I would argue it's already delayed. The iPhone 8 is out and I would imagine Apple would have preferred to release the X at the same time.

But as you say, there is zero chance of something like that happening.

Edit: A quick Google shows that the white iPhone 4 was announced in June 2010 but didn't ship until April 2011. Ten months. So my plan B is to take-up your guarantee that there won't be a delay on the iPhone X. What are the details of that guarantee, @zhandri ?

pre orders on the 27th could be a true ''Games of Phones'' chaos.

Imagine you get your shipping time from Apple shortly after pre ordering your iPhone X, with an estimate somewhere near January/February 2018, are you gonna sit out the waiting or do you have a Plan B ready?

Myself, I can't imagine I am gonna wait till January/February next year and probally stick with my iPhone 7 or look at alternatives like the LG V30 😉

This year there’s no excitement for me plus i like my 8 downgraded from plus. No more pluses now. This is the first year ike this that i am not buying apple’s top item. Maybe it’s notch, maybe apple releasing products too late now when these technologies already available in the market. Apple need to hide it’s innovations from samsung which seems unlikely bcos apple buy parts from samsung.

Plan A Buy a new iPhone 8+ after Oct 15 so it could be returned two weeks later. Attempt the X preorder at 3:00 am by Apple app on I Pad with Apple Pay. Hoping to get one close to launch day. Utilizing favorites for transaction.
Plan B Knowing results of pre order decide to keep the 8+ or return it and keep current iPhone 6 and revisit in 2018 sometime.

Does Apple store charge restocking fee if returning within two weeks? This is the route I’m leaning too also.

In my case the purchase is not for me but for my wife as a anniversary gift, so I pretty much need it By the 2nd week of November.

If that’s not an option I won’t bother with the X at all.

I don't have a 'Plan B' but my 'Plan A' has already been implemented. I've booked a flight out of Heathrow on the 3rd November and I hope to pick one up from the Airside Dixon's store. So, hopefully I'll have a new iPhone X and a nice little break abroad to go with it. I'll update you guys on my outcome. I'm also taking a cigar to smoke when the "plan comes together". 😉

Is this a store in the airport? Like past security? If so this strikes me as a brilliant plan - I would be concerned about what sort of stock they would have, however...

If it turns out the naysayers are right and it’s into next year to get one, I will just keep paying my IUP payments and own the 7+ phone when next years model comes out.

One question though, if I do that am I considered out of the IUP? I don’t want to loose the priority that comes with it.

Anything before Christmas is fine by me, if it's later than that I'll cancel the order buy a ****ing cheap Galaxy S8 and wait for the X2.

That's a really good question...I dunno maybe I would keep it? Maybe I would go with a Pixel 2 XL this round? Shipping estimates tend to be super conservative so even with a January ship date there would still be a good chance of getting one before Christmas.

I honestly don't know at this point, we'll have to see how I feel if it happens!

Yes, the store is past the security search into the Departure lounge. I've called the store and they have confirmed that they will have stock on launch day. They also had the iPhone 8's on launch day.

Just curious about the 6 since out of what you mentioned, the 6 was the biggest upgrade. I had to wait 3 weeks to get mine which felt like an eternity. I called everywhere also, and they had none in stock.

So my question is, how did you luck out?
With the 6 I actually waited a week and just used a website that tracked stock. For the 7 I went in the first Saturday after release.

Everything before xmas is fine with me. If it's later than that i'll go note 8 or pixel 2 xl. I don't really understand the x haters and 8 buyers talking crap "YOU'LL HAVE TO WAIT 5 MONTHS TO GET IT".

If that were true than preorders would have taken place at the same time as the iphone 8.

Plan B will be what my Plan A has been every other year: camp out the day before at my local Apple Store. It's worked every year so far (that, and I have a fun with the other folks in line ... it's always a good time).

I don't think I could wait in line for an iPhone that I was uncertain if I wasn't sure to receive one. But I do agree experience would be interesting, especially this year.

The plan worked! They only had 12 units to sell though but I was lucky enough to get the one I wanted; Space Grey 256GB. I also took the opportunity to grab an iPad Pro and other accessories. I’m about to get on a flight to Berlin as a bonus prize. Now to find somewhere where I can smoke this cigar.
