With these delays, the iPhone X basically is the 2018 release!
I agree, which Apple should be criticized for. As a company, they always seem to get credit for announcing and then releasing. However, it seems like their stock prices are so dependent on innovation that announcing now takes precedence over releasing. Airpods were a good example. Essentially, they announced the iPhone 7S...and then they'll have a new iPhone X next year.

Lawd, the amount of money people will make reselling these! Jesus!!!! $1,000 can, scratch that, will turn in $2000+!

Apple is allegedly waiting to see how many iPhone X pre-orders it receives, and monitoring how well the already-released iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus sell, before fully ramping up production overseas.
I highly doubt this is true.

This is the weirdest iPhone release ever. Intentionally slow down production? They have years of historical data on iPhone sales to go on and should be able to anticipate demand accordingly. Is there some kind of artificial scarcity going on here? Or have they all just lost their minds?

It does not sound at all like they are intentionally doing it.

It sounds like a few components are having yield issues. So they don't want 60% of the other parts just sitting in their warehouse.

Getting my 8+ tomorrow. Did not have time to wait for an X and use touch-ID extensively which will take time to replace confidently in e.g. banking app's. Especially after the glitch in the presentation.. Animated poop did not excite me enough ;). So no regrets now but might be interested in a next gen OLED iPhone next year instead. Hopefully they have touch-ID under the screen in addition to the Face-ID. But I would not bet on it.

I planned to buy an iPhone X this year, but I will wait until the next year's phone.

Knowing Apple's track record in all things, this new design will be rather buggy and loaded with design flaws. Fine for those who buy it and take the bullet to get design improvement into the following years, but I'm not up for that noise. The iPhone Xs+ will be an excellent product with a larger OLED screen, better cameras, better processor and battery life, better water-proofing, better HD voice transmission, etc.

I salute the product testers: the purchasers of the iPhone X.

Not a single report has said this is intentional. Only biased and clueless posters (not you) who have an unjustified vendetta against Apple.

Not really shocking, TBH. I figure that the majority of people who don't jump on the pre-order train right away on 10/27 will be waiting well into 2018 to receive their X's.

This all but confirms that I'll just get the 8+ and watch the madness unfold for the X.

This is why I bought the 8 plus. Maybe the "10s" or whatever it is called will have most of the "beta" issues worked out. The X looks amazing, but I want Touch ID until I know there are very few complaints about Face ID.

I think Face ID will work fine. I believe Apple wouldnt have released something that didnt work in almost all use cases...they're not Samsung

Even though there was no glitch in the presentation...? With dozens of staffers using the phone and looking at it, it operated like if people tried your Touch ID. After failed attempts, use passcode.

No glitch.

This will be a cluster**** when it comes to sales. Tim the "mastermind" behind supply chain cant get a normal production schedule for a phone? Good boy Tim. I wonder if people will still say how good of a CEO he is.

I'm still skeptical that the demand will be this high. I think many people are waiting to see if they CAN get an X, and if they can't will just settle for an 8 Plus for this year.

I agree 100%, this is why I'm not interested in the X this year either. In fact I never buy first gen Apple products (I know this isn't technically first gen but you know what I mean) for this reason, you are basically paying to test for them.

I think people who miss out in this pre order rush will actually be dodging a bullet. A very expensive one.

This thing is going to hit the online store with "Ships: December"... and I figure there'll be one color that is more backordered and one storage capacity or the other that is also backordered or more readily found. This has happened many times in the past.
