Don't get me wrong, I love my X, but can't help but feel the sharp edges where the stainless steel band joins the front and back glass. I didn't feel this on my Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus. It was totally smooth all around. For reference, I have the silver. Just hope I don't have a defective unit.

i had the silver (returned it) and didn't like the 'sharp' edges, either. it just seemed like they didn't do a good enough job on finishing, but i know that's just the way it is. perhaps i was holding it wrong. ;)

I also have sharp edges, I thought it was a defect, but I don’t really care since I put a case on it.

Silver here. Smooth as a baby’s butt.
So not fair! Lol

You returned or exchanged? Did you stay with silver or go with space gray?

i actually noticed that too on my silver.. its mostly rough/sharp where the sim card is..hmm it doesnt bother me much tho.. not sure if it would be worth dealing with returning, but then again this is a $1k phone... hmm decisions.....

I think someone posted about this on release day, and I was a bit confused as to what they were referring to as I can't find any "sharp edges" on mine (also a Silver). Perhaps this is a defect in the hardware, assembly, or finishing of some sort?

I have this. It’s just not that smooth.
The floor models at the Apple store were mostly smoother but I just don’t see this as that big of an issue. Especially since it’s usually in a case anyway.

That ridge feeling is the plastic material designed to mitigate cracks and impact damage in the glass. The 8 and 8 Plus have them too.

When I had the Silver model, I did had this too. For people who are curious what this is, if you run your finger between the glass and the stainless steal you can feel it, it's like having rough edge. . My Space Gray doesn't have this issue and is continuous between the glass and the stainless steal. It's like smooth edges.

I wouldn’t exactly call them “sharp” but if you inspect it and try to feel for it you can feel a slight edge where the stainless steel band meets glass. I hardly notice it. Phone feels amazing in hand and by far Apples best iPhone made to date.

Agree. I had to actually look and feel for it. Sharp is a overstatement. It mostly smooth. Feels great in hand. If someone is getting cut. Then it’s a defect.
