iPhone X Shipping Estimates Improve to 3-4 Weeks in Several Countries

That's probably true. If the stores are getting daily shipments, there is a good chance you can score one way before Dec.
I'd doubt they'll get daily shipments of the iPhone X... But perhaps every 3 to 4 days. The Stainless Apple Watches Series 3 don't ship daily to the stores in my area, however every 3 to 4 days they get shipment.

still the same time-frame for me. Which is ok. I'm so busy with work and depend on my phone when in the field I probably wouldn't activate it anyway.

Any guess yet on when the unlockeds will become available?

I paid full price for mine, so I'm under the assumption that a) The phone will come unlocked or b) you can call your carrier to have them give you a code to unlock it.

If history is any guide, the SIM-free will be available in about 5-6 weeks. Technically all Verizon and any full-priced phone bought from Apple is unlocked. Once they are available reliably in stores you can buy the phone "device only." Unfortunately to pre-order or reserve online (when they make that available) you need to enter carrier information. Carriers get first crack since they commit to selling a certain number of phones.

But don't you need an account with any of the carriers in order to even order one? That's what I thought, at least. I'm with AT&T, but not on a contract

@KPOM we posted at the same time. Thank you for your input. So, once they become available in-store (which can take a while where I live. All of the official Apple stores don't even carry the 8 regularly, yet), I can just by one without needing a contract, eventhough the sim-free one isn't available online, yet?

My guess is a lot of people are canceling orders now that initial excitement is settled down
Your guess is a pretty poor one. Apple routinely under promises and over delivers, this is no different. Only haters will try to suggest it means demand is low, or that people are canceling or whatever. Personally I’d guess there is no significant number of people canceling their orders.

Yes. I have done that in the past. I usually get the Verizon one but as long as you buy it directly from Apple it doesn’t matter which one as all of them will support AT&T. Those who have Verizon or Sprint need to get the Verizon/Sprint one as that is the only one with a CDMA radio.

We’ll get a sense in 2.5 hours when Apple issues its guidance for the current quarter. With only 2/3 of a quarter for the X it will be interesting to see how many they can push out to consumers.

yes, depending on carrier you need to be on 30, 45 or even 50 days in good standing before they SIM UNLOCK the phone. So you can always port over if you are that desperate and go back to your carrier.....or be normal and wait for your phone (as I scour ebay)

Ok, so I opted for the full price off contract AT&T iPhone X. Bought directly from Apple. I travel overseas and require an unlocked phone. I normally wait to buy until I can just walk in and buy the unlocked versions. Are you saying that my full price pre-order should be unlocked? That’s what I was expecting. If it’s not unlocked, it won’t fit my needs.

Uh- what's the demand for $1000+ phones outside the US - Apple is being bailed out by US carriers making it seem like this is an affordable phone - which it's not - this is ridiculously overprice.
Are you being ironic? It appears you have an iPhone 6s Plus 128 GB, which cost $950 when released. You might not have purchased it for that price but it also appears you have several other "overpriced" Apple products: "iPhone 6s Plus 128GB| Ipad Mini 3|iPad Pro 10.5 256GB LTE| :apple: TV 4th Gen | iMac 5K | :apple: Watch 42 SG"

Because of Apple's prices they are able to produce all those products you claim to own.

Are you buying it directly from Apple? If yes then it is unlocked. If you ordered it from AT&T you will need to have it unlocked before you travel.

So much for the "severely constrained supplies." I thought supplies wouldn't be available until next year he way many sites reported after the initial sell through.

Yes, I pre-ordered it directly from Apple. Sorry I left that out of my post. I edited it to reflect that. Thank you for your reply.

Thank you! I know that only Verizon and Sprint need CDMA...is this actually used anywhere outside the US?

So, I either buy the Verizon version (in-store), now, or wait until the sim-free comes out, right?? Does the sim-free one support both systems?

I'm in the same boat as RevTEG, travelling a lot.

Argh. Mine is still 5-6 weeks. I wake up every morning and the first thing I do is look to see if it has changed.

Wax on. Wax off. Patience.

thank you...I can afford it but I have no interest in helping Apple with their margins and supply issues.

Mine got bumped up from the 17th-24th to the 8th but UPS says it will be here on the 6th. Of course I am out of town on business. Crap....

Your better off having a go at stores, whether be at Apple or 3rd party retailers.

That's my plan. Its likely you'll be able to find one in stores before your due date... But I'm not sure your area and how many stores that carry them.

Yes, I' ve evaluated the option to go to the store Tomorrow but:

1) The first store near my house is at 2 hours (and another 2 hours to return back)
2) For sure there are a lot of people in the queue already
3) I bet that here in Italy hte number of iPhone X available are really small

For these reason go to a store for me is not an option

The SIM-Free is the Verizon/Sprint one. Most of the world uses GSM for 3G except North America, Japan and Korea. However with LTE almost ubiquitous either should work around the world.

Bleh. Just for the kicks ordered one yesterday evening (Nov 1st) from a local store that has better return policy than Apple. Wanted to see what happens when I order it so close to actual launch and expected it to ship around Christmas. Got email today saying they've shipped it and I should have it tomorrow or on Monday. :/

Oh well, 30 days to see if it's worth anything before I need to return it. I doubt I'm going to keep it. Then again, could always sell it if there is some actual shortage. Would expect the 256GB model to sell easily. There's always someone who wants one - unless they actually sell so poorly that's why there's plenty of those available from the store. Even then I still have that month to return it.

It seems silver supply is not a lot. I made the mistake of ordering it since I've been black/space grey for the past few iterations. I am still showing 17-24 despite many others having improved ship times.

My internet went out in the middle of the ordering. I have a release day estimate when I put it in the basket and by the time I could figure out what was going on it slipped :(

Riiiight. So i can go onto the apple website right now (i've checked) and have one at my door quicker than the estimate on my pre-order that i made 10 minutes into pre-order night? How does that work Apple?

Mine was just updated. Had been set for Dec 11-18, and now Dec 1-8. A ten day improvement! Bring it on.

For now we don't know if it is poor supply of poor demand.
It's poor supply. The earnings report shows that via expected earnings next quarter. Highest ever by a wide margin.
