Ordered November 18 from AT&T. Still in processing stage.
Just asking, find a store, walk in and buy, then cancel the order (or even send back if it gets shipped that day)? Or are you and other ATT refugees at remote locations for that?
Disclaimer: I always had very fast service from ATT.

wish my at&t order was one week away...

Couldn't you cancel and order from Apple instead? Or would that complicate things with your installment plan?

Still waiting for the unlocked version...

I bought an unlocked version on launch day. Works with any GSM carrier worldwide and Verizon in the US o_O

Istocknow dot com seems to indicate that while the other three providers stock is getting better, Verizon stock is still practically non existent, at least in the Tucson area. Same results through the Apple store, not available even as far away as Phoenix.

So they can improve the delivery dates of the iPhone X after just one month, but it took them 6mo before the AirPods were readily available. Yeah, supply chain genius my ..... The demand simply isn't there.

100%! as expected, the big fans, the very affluent and the scalpers have all got their orders in by now.. normal demand for this phone is not gonna be crazy high! not at that price range at least...

It's because they significantly cut down on iPhone 8 & 8+ manufacturing since nobody wants those. They have one guy in the corner of the factory basement making a few of those a day, then the rest of the factory is focused on the X :D I kid, I kid... please dont hate me iPhone 8 owners

I love my X. It been a long time since I had a new iPhone that truly felt like a completely new and differentiated product. And I have owned every model made except the 8. The Face ID is really amazing, and the gestures are well thought out. I don’t miss my Touch ID home button at all. And love that this phone has about the same screen real estate as my 7 Plus did but is such a better fit in the pocket. The sales of this phone will do just fine. It is the first phone Apple has launched that had another new phone launch simultaneously with it. Of course the 8 will take sales from the X. You don’t think Apple was aware of that?

My admittedly amateur view is that the X is taking sales from the 8 vice what you said.

what slightly grates me is that the X and a X plus - could easily have replaced the 7 and 7 plus this year - with a small (c 50-80 buck premium).

the 7s and 7s plus could simply have been the cheaper option this year with the glass back for the wireless charging.

The 8 was only created to "allow" a price gouge on the X model.

Apple did the same when the 9.7 inch ipad pro was released

If only Apple would break down the iPhone sales by model type.

But that won't happen, because you'd find the best selling model in units is probably the iPhone 7! :D
And their ain't nothing wrong with that! -thumbs up- A lot of phone in a metal case, with a memory configuration more to some folk's liking. Apple has a nice bandwidth of phones right now. If someone is going to pirate sales, it might as well be yourself.

I'm really surprised, like many others, that the shipment estimates improved so strongly. I'm curious if demand is meeting Apple's planning or customers tend to reject the offering by either switching to iPhone 8 or postponing to 2018. My bet is iPhone X sales will be strong, but maybe not completely matching iPhone 7 sales two years ago.
While I don't want to speculate either way, what is pretty surprising is that IphoneX is the first gen phone for it's kind. The screen, the true depth camera are been components. It's a little surprising that the supply chain became so efficient with this new components where as apple has been struggling the to meet the demand in case of iPhone 6 and 7. May be apple had the whole desing locked from last year and has been testing with it for pretty long time.

According to Joni, they had been working out this design for several years.
But I am not inclined to believe him more than you (and/or anyone else)

First thing I did when I opened the box was remove the VZW SIM and install my TMob SIM. Then powered on for the first time and connected to my Mac/iTunes. iTunes alerted me to a carrier settings update which I did. Then restored from backup and reinstalled apps. 45 min or so later I was ready to roll.
Can I just do the same process here in india?, remove the verizon sim and put my Indian sim and connect it with itunes, will it activate here in India or I need to first activate in USA with any carrier and then I can use it in India?

Fair observation. Apple (and AT&T) do not offer the installment plan we chose going through AT&T website.

Bingo. Wish I could have bought through Apple, they’ve always given me a pleasant buying experience.

I can't see why not. The VZW model is essentially the SIM-free model with a VZW SIM. Since it's unlocked there is no need to activate if you have a working SIM because the phone ships unlocked as opposed to getting unlocked via iTunes. I only plugged mine in to restore my data from backup. It was showing TMob before I plugged it in.

If I order it from apple website and opt for store pick up, since I won't be filling any verizon details at the time of ordering it. Will I be asked for details at the time of pick up at store?

And still no sim-free version. C'mon Apple....

(And before everyone jumps on this, yet again, suggesting to just buy the Verizon model: no stock in any of the stores in my area....)

Possibly, a high percentage of devices got returned within 2 weeks.
Seems more plausible than a sudden production ramp-up (most playdough-kids already vanished from Chinese streets...)

Returned items aren't sold as new, but as refurbished.

8 production was indeed cut back for increased rates on the X and 8 Plus. :apple:

I don't think you can order a VZW phone online for shipping or pickup w/o a VZW account. I think you have to walk in w/o reservation, which is how I bought mine. But if you buy it that way, no they don't ask for any account info. Just tell them you want to buy the VZW model "equipment only, no activation." They'll sell it to you no questions asked except maybe "would you like to buy Apple Care." Heh.

At least here in WA because we are near Oregon a tax free state they were requiring all X orders be done via the app for In store pickup due to scalpers.

Now way! I would have never guessed. Lol

Given the price point, I am not surprised. The initial interest over FaceID will die down, not many apps have been released to support it either. I am staying away from Gen 0 of the X. I had a couple and both attributed similar issues, even after the update. Maybe a defective batch, not sure. In any case next year the price point may very well be lowered, I cannot imagine that Apple will raise prices higher when adoption of the X has already met demand/supply equilibrium in a month.

Seems the early adopters are paying a premium for FaceID, and many apps that I use have yet to support it. I can wait another year, no harm done here.

If you are a TruTone and Qi fan, then the 8 is the way to go. The AMOLED still has issues, maybe I had two defective units even after the software update, maybe the cold climate. Who knows, will let Apple figure it for 2018.

Like the iPad Pro 2017 models, TrueTone and ProMotion a beautiful synergy. I cannot look at the MacBook Pro 2015 screen anymore, it looks like rubbish. My eyes are spoilt :p:D

Good way to talk yourself out of a purchase by degrading the device. I can talk myself out of a Bentley too. I don’t need a V12 engine. It’s just a gimmick.
Where did I degrade the device or say it was a gimmick? I just said that I don't find the extra expense worth it (to me) for the added features. Obviously some people do. Sounds like you're a tad defensive, it's a comment of expense not a personal attack against you.
