Please tell me this is a troll post and delete it immediately. If it’s in the dark, it makes no difference because you can’t see anything. Also there are multiple landmarks you would use to orient the phone in zero visibility conditions, including the camera ju

Just admit you were wrong and you have some buyer's remorse with your color choice and move on. You don't need to start threads like this to feel better about it.

Space gray wins

Space gray wins

is this a serious post?
Can't be... if someone can't tell the difference between two buttons on one side and one on the other (same as the iPhone 7) then maybe they have no business using a cell phone.
I can see it now... them constantly complaining about it trying to turn the phone off when meaning to adjust the volume. 🙄

I have a space gray. The Vivid screen is instantly attracted upon because of the dark corners. The problem with silver is that it’s only pretty when you see the back . When you see the front the silver chrome distracts from the screen experience and breaks the emersiveness

OP just wants to start another reassurance thread after realizing the silver X is the uglier of two once he saw videos like this -

Silver X is whack, dude. The better two-tone is the panda Pixel 2 XL because the upper rear is black. If all white, then it's weird. I wanted the silver X badly only to realize it's not as sleek and seamless as the space gray in person.

With silvery off-white rear, it makes the X look very inconsistent and the metal edges shows scratches and fingerprints easier like the old iPod days. Space gray X on Verizon is the best variant, period.

Omg. I thought only Apple ppl fought Samsung people. Then it turned into iPhone 8 ppl vs iPhone X. Now it’s iphone X silver vs iPhone X space grey.

Cmon ppl. Jeez Louise. Go have a beer. Calm down.

Silver X will show scratches easier especially on the sides. You will know the side you are holding with the camera hump and feeling the top, bottom, and side with the Siri button. It's like braille.

Space gray X also looks better next to my space gray SE since black matches well in anything but white doesn't always match well with any color. It matches even better with a space gray Apple Watch.

Another one for space gray...

Since you “live in the dark”....

Touch the phone’s ‘screen’. In the dark.

If it lights up. You’ve found the front. If not. Flip it over to find the front.

Next. See the clock? On the FRONT that you have found? It orients one way. That way is right side up. Proceed to unlock and use your phone.

Next. Be happy.

I shouldn't need to feel around for a camera bump to orient my phone. This was something simple to do with all previous 9 iPhones, now it's a big step back. I do feel this is a fundamental design flaw and I will be exchanging my space grey for a white phone or returning it altogether.

The Apple leather case solves this problem. The entire top is leather, the entire bottom is open, there’s no problem with orientation if your phone is in the proper case.

If you have a space grey iPhone X, try this test at home. Turn off the lights, fumble around with your phone so you lose track of its orientation, then try to turn it on.

PROBLEM: You have no idea which side is front or back, which way is up or down. There is no home button to orient the phone. You have a 75% chance of getting it wrong on the space grey. So here is what happens:

25% chance - You guessed right, good job.

25% chance - Screen turns on but upside down, flip it over. Ok, not so bad.

25% chance - You're staring at the back of a phone, oops. After a while flip it over, you're oriented correctly now.

25% chance - You're staring at the back of a phone, oops. After a while flip it over, now it's upside down! So rotate again. It's not your lucky day.

This is a DISASTER for usability and I frankly can't believe Apple released the space grey version of this phone. Apple probably knows about this flaw, that's why they gave our white phones to reviewers during this cycle.

It's less of a problem if you use a case, but you shouldn't need to use a case to make your phone not terrible.
Thanks for making my day, OP. This is the most ridiculous and hilarious post I’ve read today. Probably this week as well. Well done!

Why don’t you just return it then?

Are you slow? One side has a power button one has a volume rocker and mute switch. Not hard

No, he really doesn't. It's no different to any other black phone ever made, and frankly just a tad ridiculous. Anyway, mine will have a case that has an up and down orientation so a moot point, but even without I hardly see it as an issue. Who the hell randomly spins and rotates their phone before putting it down anyway?! lol

Agreed. This is a pretty silly thing for the OP to be upset about.

I ended up getting the silver / white iPhone X, I will return the space grey. The silver / white phone is clearly the phone to buy this time, I consider space grey to be defective.

Nothing more to say on this topic, and shame on you flamers.

How is finding the home button with your fingers different from finding the camera?? Get a life man..
