Goodbye carrier name! Finally. As if I constantly need to be told what network I’m on… What a waste of space.

I'm with you 99% there.. The only reason I care about the carrier name is to know if I'm on wifi calling or not. Most of the time it doesn't matter, but if I'm out of the country I prefer to know if I'm going to be paying for the call or not.

For the rest of the time it comes down to aesthetics. My carrier chose to have all upper case "ROGERS" when on their network, but proper case "Rogers Wi-Fi" when on wifi calling. If they get rid of the carrier name completely I'd be fine with that most of the time.

I suppose Apple might just ditch these indicators, since those are also accessible via Control Center.

That's cumbersome though compared to always visible. There's the alarm indicator too, if that is on when I'm not expecting it to be, I want to see it because it wouldn't occur to me to bring up control centre.

It the screen is as big as expected there really isn't any point to the notch since there is plenty of vertical real estate in any case. Now they are just cramming things into a small space just to fight the screen diagonal size wars.

Nice!! This is the biggest change to UI since the original iPhone. Looks like a winner, I just hope Apple can handle the order volume.

What vexes me is the location of the time. It should be on the right, like on MacOS, not the left. It's a very minor thing, but it would take no effort to fix and would make the ecosystem as a whole more consistent.

Yes! The clock should be on the right and all the status items on the left. It looks so so wrong with the time on the left.

Looks fine to me. I figured if it was going to have a “notch”, then Apple would find a way to design around it and be clever or at least smart with it. I’d rather it be there than to sacrifice screen size/space. We will see come Tuesday, but I am not as turned off by it as I was initially.

Oh god, even more UI ugliness. Large title? Really? Beautiful hardware with ugly software. So depressing to see how my beloved platform is turning into a mess.
I wouldn't call the hardware beautiful with that notch and vertical camera bump......

It will not have the notch.... the background will be black and will look flush with the camera portion. Youu should not see the ear-like protruding screen.

That would be ironic, considering the Galaxy Team gets their ideas from Apple's designers... :p

Yeah, only 4 years ago would you even be correct lol. Samsung has been designing phones better than Apple since the Galaxy S6 edge with their own unique ideas. You guys are playing catch up.

I feel like Christmas is Tuesday and I spoiled it by peeking at all my gifts.

Hope there is at least one surprise left:(

This is me embracing the notch. It's genius and I love how futuristic it looks.

Also, saying "Steve wouldn't have allowed this." Just...no. You can't use his name to critique everything about Apple you don't like.

You will buy it and you know it.

Stop encouraging the disparagers. Limited supply, remember? ;)

Looks good, although I hope a dark mode will keep the row black all the time, which looks likely given that the recording/in call colouring is limited to the clock. I wonder how percentage will work, as that’s a feature everyone would miss. Perhaps you could tap it.
You like it but at the same time you wish it black all the time.
You sound like you want to like it.
