There was an article not overly long ago hat stated Apple will have 12 million units ready for launch.

Most iPhone launches did not sell more than that for openin weekend (Friday to Sunday)View attachment 724962

The only iPhone to exceed that was the 6s/6s+ (possibly the 7/7+ too, but couldn’t find its launch weekend sales numbers)

Those are weekend sales that didn’t have any other new iPhone to compete with. The X has had a full month of people buying the 8/8+ instead, competing against X sales (because they prefer it or don’t like the price of the X)

The X won’t be as delayed as many are assuming. It won’t be you snooze you lose until 2018 if you’re attempting a pre order only a mear 3 minutes after pre orders go live.

Most people who want one for launch day will likely have a reasonably easy time (outside of maybe the colour and storage option they want being sold quicker, and having to get a different option) It will be a different story for those who don’t pre order though.

Check back here on 10/28/17. ;)

When are the threads of the "look, another iPhone X in the wild!" going to stop?

Various Apple employees have had the X since the keynote, and even prior to it. Yes, these are people like you and me that occasionally venture into public :)

Pretty sure they’ll stop after the phone is released.

The only way you will receive a X in November is to have completed the pre-order process, then confirm within the first 3 min on Oct 27th. The X will be 6-8 weeks by the end of the day on Oct 27th. :apple:
there would have to be a shipload of pre-orders to kick it back 8 weeks but i suppose not entirely out of question.

if ,say, 30million people order an X on oct27, then maybe 6-8 weeks until the last orderer gets the phone.. the majority of this original 35million would very likely receive the phone much earlier than 8 weeks out.

(though the website will very likely say this as the wait time at end of day)

just basing this off past launches and reputable articles regarding iPhone assembly lines..
but probably 10-15million of them available for launch day.. then production at approx 500,000 per day..
it would take 6 weeks to make 21million more.

just pre-order it reasonably close to 12am pacific (like, don't wait until 12:30 ;) ), or, wait in line early for nov3 at an Apple store.. and you'll likely get one on nov3

(again.. guesses with some past info to go off of)

.

your graphic is about the sales of the first wave countries (so just about 6 to 8 countries worldwide)
Completely different this year, as the iPhone X will be a (nearly) worldwide pre order for 55 (!!) countries all at the same time, heck at the same minute(s).

This is Apple's first year with a worldwide iPhone pre order, add the first oled iPhone ever and be ready for a chaos. Millions of people around the world at the same (first) minute(s) on Oct 27th to get one ;)

Tim Cook has every iPhone ever made. Including all of the prototypes. He’s literally oozing iPhones. They’re coming out of his ears. I can even see it in the photo. God knows what comes up in a cavity search.
