By the way, 36mil phones by the end of the year is still a good number, especially for pre-orders, considering there are only two months left in the year upon release.

With demand expected to be around 50m ... I don’t really see how this will be much different than any other iPhone release where those who order late have to wait. When preorders start in September, orders are usually pushed in to late November, or early December. Here - it seems to correlate that orders will be pushed into January and early February.

I will preface this with an "of COURSE I'll still be buying one", but man is that not an ideal solution.

The notch seems to get worse every time I see it in the wild/at the launch too. Hopefully it's just creeping in because of all the hate because I swear it didn't bother me much at first. But now? Yuck.

I'm really hoping it's not as much of a wart in real world use, otherwise it will impact my decision on the X2 if they don't fix it. When other manufacturers can have screens with a higher "all screen" %, higher PPI, AND no notch, it really makes it funny how Apple believes this is the "future". I'm not one of those people that believes Apple is hopelessly behind or anything, but still, this isn't a quantum leap (in anything but a FaceID system no one asked for and almost universally would be swapped for TouchID if it were a choice).

I’ve had a few white iPhones (4S and 5). The white border around the screen drew me back to the black iPhones. Not with the X though! No white borders.

Android phones come in all different sizes and they don't have big black bars. Apple controls both the hardware and software, it is inexcusable.
