If you pre order on the 27th within the first 5 minutes, you are Preety much guaranteed either a launch day or week 1-2 delivery.

Many people are still saying that if you don't preorder within the first minutes you'll get a 2018 date...

However, this report says that al least 36 million iPhone Xs will be produced by the end of 2017.

Then I'm asking: are there REALLY more that 36 million people connecting to Apple websites in the first 5 minutes of a preorder??!!

I liked my watch 0, but you could be right. Especially on the software side - might take them a few revisions to figure out how to deal with the notch (I’d like smarter zoom options for video and photos), and the bottom ‘home swipe’ gesture - to me that seems to reserve too much ‘safe’ space. I’d get rid of that part.

I like the design but yes the software was bad and slow as sin and mine would crash often. Im personally not hating on the X I just travel allot for work so much so got nervous being a beta user in the wild. I love the X look etc I guess I just got nervous being bleeding edge again... I got the Watch 3 and it was so worth the wait so Im sure X will mature and personally Id love to get an X+ lol I also got the 8+ since Im old boring and lame and its a nice phone coming from the 7+. Good luck to everyone Id love to see all your pics in a few weeks when you win! Gotta rep Macrumors show off your new X phones!

So aren't they supposed to be MAKING the iPhone X now, but instead are still perfecting manufacturing of the iPhone X's TrueDepth camera and 3D facial recognition system?

Does that mean the ones they made already (if they have) don't have good TrueDepth cameras?

They haven't perfected the speed and efficiency of assembling the camera and sensors, nothing to do with good/bad cameras or sensors. There could also be low yield when manufacturing any of the components, meaning that for example only 40% of said component produced is manufactured correctly and passes all QC, while the other 60% are discarded. Takes time to perfect the process, especially for very new sensors and cameras like on the X.

I got my Watch 0 on launch day. So did my husband. I'd be okay if the X launch goes that way.

I got my watch 0 a year later after prices dropped a bit. It did me good for the life of apple care (about 2 years) although over time the microphone got clogged so I could not talk to it, command SIRI, but it still worked for me. Then in last month of warranty the watch 0 battery swelled and popped the crystal off. apple replaced at no charge with in 2 days another watch 0 (would have loved a 2 or so with the dual microphone and ability to expel water from them to keep them cleaner like my friend at local Mac store does) but at least for now I can command SIRI again.

But in terms of iPhones I have gotten most on launch day or within 2 weeks hope to repeat that with the X.

I got 2 of the AW Series 0 on launch day by looking at what we wanted (SS watches) and seeing what I thought would be in the largest supply. I concluded this was watches with the sport band, so that's what I aimed for, but since I wanted a Milanese loop, I grabbed one of those for me and got my husband a sport band one. I ordered him a SS link separately and we got that band around the same time the people who ordered the SS link were getting their watches.

I have never not had a phone on launch day, and I upgrade yearly. I am also hoping it works out this year. I guess we'll see in about 2 weeks!

It took me a year even before I was interested in trying an Apple Watch I just could not convince myself to try one, now that I have I find I like them. I have gotten phones maybe half the time on launch day but usually within a month of launch at worse. I wish they would stagger it so we could get ours at Midnight or 11 PM though 2 AM central kills me LOL yep we will see what happens for sure

I have to order mine at 3am. LOL.

But it was a goddamn watch, this is the company's most important product. They're well prepared.

Okay. Your profanity notwithstanding, AW may have just been a watch but Apple made the launch as high profile as possible -- even leasing out window and store space in two of Europe's most elite department stores. And in spite of all that promotion the launch was hindered because of a production problem.

So let's not pretend that the X could not end up at that same intersection just because it's a phone and not a watch. I'm sure Apple is prepared as it can be but neither that or clicking it's proverbial heels three times will get it more sensors that its supplier can current pump out. If demand exceeds supply then you get backorders. It's simple math.

I think you need to look at the 7 Plus launch, Tim Cook's comments from earlier this year on it, and the deliberate move by Apple to delay this launch until November, to know that this misery won't be repeated.

I don't think one can make that latter assumption. The X, based on multiple reports from different sources, seems to only now be going into production because of the sensor supply issue. The 7 Plus issue was 100% different -- TC admitted he was surprised by it's popularity and Apple just did not order enough initially. Very different than what the reports on the X tell us. Those reports tell us supply will be limited because of a parts issue not because Apple is being cautious on inventory.

so they promised a product that is not done yet.
kudos. how unprofessional from the biggest company in the world.

to the fail at the apple event

I wish everybody would stop bringing this up!!! FaceID DID NOT FAIL! Restart your iPhone/ipad and try to unlock it with TouchID, it won't let you. Try to unlock your TouchID device unsuccessfully multiple times, you have to enter your unlock code. One of those two things happened on the X demo to cause it to default to the PIN code.

I really wonder has Apple seriously considered delaying the iPhone X until January 2018. That way, Apple will build up enough inventory with production in November 2017 and the first few weeks of December 2017 to satisfy initial demand when the phone finally arrives at retailers.

It would not be the 10th anniversary phone if they waited until 2018 to release it.

They’ll release it this year.

Shame Apple didn't know this about their own device. Its a fail. Optics were awful. End of story.

what exact timezone will the it be released on?

Are you referring to the preorders? Those are starting midnight Pacific time (California time) on October 27th. I'm on the east coast, so preorders are at 3am on 10/27 for me.

Ah of course, I should of known being from the there and apple being a California based company, but after I moved the east coast for work I just assume its just on ET since nearly I feel like NY always get some type of priority because of their 5th Ave store
