i just have got in my hand both devices.

First of all, X seems to have got very low quality and resolution compared to 8+.
Second, with truetone enabled X it is very yellow, disabling on both, still the same, a lot of yellowish on X.
What do you think?

Really? The X should be noticeably better, it has a higher resolution in a smaller screen resulting in 458ppi compared to the 8 Plus’s 401ppi.

Doesn't make any sense. The fact that the iPhone X uses an OLED screen instead of an LED screen should result and better display.

I would say that this particular iPhone X model is defective.

People incorrectly use PPI as an end-all number, but in reality, it’s not as black and white as marketers make it seem. You can use PPI to compare two screens, but only if the screens are using the same pixel arrangement. Otherwise, PPI is an inaccurate way to measure the sharpness of a screen.

A zoomed in view shows the two phones are very similar, but if anything, the 8 looks nicer to my eyes. (strictly comparing the two images, not when in use)

Waiting to see the X in person. I don’t really trust other people’s opinions about screen quality, as I’ve always felt Apple’s LCDs were the best screens on the market. Not many felt that way. I have faith that Apple did “OLED right”. I always enjoy Apple screens, throughout their entire product lineup.

You must have gotten a bad unit. The iPhone X oled display should blow away the 8 Plus LCD.

Should, should, and should .... but it appears in this instance of real-life, that it doesn't

Oh dear.

Perhaps post pictures of your yellow displays for others to see and gauge the differences.

I have a good old LCD 1080P iPhone 8+ and QHD+ Samsung Galaxy S8+.

Sure the S8+ display is technically and visibly better, but overall I have been using my iPhone 8+ more often and prefer it for several reasons.

Display is only part of the story, but I will need to see the X in person before really having an opinion.

Why do you assume this is a troll? Because their opinion differs to yours?
claims to have multiple units with worse screen quality than the 8... they cant all be defective? Ive seen both displayes in person and the x is noticeably better

Just out of curiosity... those of you who are "Judging" the OP, and have themselves compared the display of the X to the 8, have you done so outside of Apple's super-awesome-store-lighting-that-makes-everything-look-flawless lighting?

Genuine question.

Yes! It looks better for the x hands down in various lighting conditions

Looks like the X pixels are arranged diagonally compared to the straight grid of the 8. No idea if that's normal for OLED or unique to the X, but in that photo I can notice a dot pattern that I don't see in the 8, and that makes the 8 looks nicer to me.

Maybe it looks better in person, and the photo is misleading, though.

Yea, take the photo with a grain of salt.

Something many will learn here soon enough. OLED has been made into something mythic, but those of us with lots of android experience know OLED has compromises that some might consider deal breakers.

And Apple’s calibration is also different than Samsung.

I have used the S8 and I find the colors a bit over saturated for my tastes. I would adapt but the LCD seems to look a bit better to me right now. The OLED blacks are certainly more black but the colors seem to be over "punched" to me.
