You didn't reply to the OP, and there are multiple people on this thread complaining about the quality of the screen.

And "C'mon guys" implies you are targeting multiple people/posters.
Fair enough-I’ll wait for actual evidence. This thread is wasteland territory without pictures. At any rate, we will all know soon enough.

Just post a picture of the X’s screen. People can see shades of white or yellow perfectly fine without “comparison” photos.

I’m not sure what anyone would gather from that. There are plenty of unstaged hands-on photos of the X online and videos on YouTube.

The thread is about what the screen looks like versus the 8/8+.

What anyone would gather is an idea of how yellowish the X display is with true tone off.

Photos online and videos on YouTube have nothing to do with the OP’s “unit in hand”.

Let’s see the poster’s yellowish screen. The 8Plus comparison is only relevant to those with an 8Plus.

That's fine, if it looks better to your eyes then that's what matters, everyone needs to be happy with their choices.

I spent a good amount of time debating the merits of the different pixel layouts before making my decision, I don't necessarily agree that a lower resolution and less pixels makes for a better display, but that's my eyes, I don't look so close that I can view each individual pixel.

To me any display regardless of it's pixel structure and even resolution, on a screen this small at the distances I view it at, loses many of the benefits which a higher resolution brings anyway.

But one that can display a huge contrast ratio, a brighter image, faster pixel response time and high dynamic range looks better than one that does not.

I went through the same thing before I decided on a 4K OLED TV, but in then end I just couldn't argue with the deep inky blacks and buttery smooth motion of the OLED. It even made the benefits of HDR more pronounced over the LCD's.

Colours, well that's another matter with some OLED screens, very often LCD wins out there.

I'm right with you on one thing, I also think Apple make quite simply the most amazing LCD screens to be found on any phone. I think they're better than some of the OLED's too, I'm just not so sure if they'll be better than an Apple OLED. Certainly every review of the X I've read, even the less enthusiastic reviews have been blown away by the X's screen compared to the 8/+.

Finally find out for myself soon thankfully, it's almost time to go get mine and I can promise you this much, if it looks worse I won't be bringing an X home with me, it'll be an 8 Plus. I refuse to accept a worse screen on a phone at that price.
Didn’t make the argument of PPI importance, just that you can’t compare PPI based on numerical value.

The zoomed in reference was not to say there would be a perceptual difference between the two, but rather the X’s higher PPI does not equate to a more dense image....which again.....is most likely not even important in real world usage.

i just have got in my hand both devices.

First of all, X seems to have got very low quality and resolution compared to 8+.
Second, with truetone enabled X it is very yellow, disabling on both, still the same, a lot of yellowish on X.
What do you think?

I thought this may be the case with the resolution. The X advertised PPI isn’t really true because of the pentile arrangement of the pixels.

Waiting to see the X in person. I don’t really trust other people’s opinions about screen quality, as I’ve always felt Apple’s LCDs were the best screens on the market.

Same here.

The 8 Plus display is gorgeous... I'm watching an HD movie right now and it's amazing looking. Do I expect to do cartwheels when I see the X in person later today and go "ZOMG the 8 Plus display sux!"???

... not at all. But if I do I'll post back. Hahah...

Yeah I’m with you there, in real world usage I think we’ve been at the point of diminishing returns since we hit 1080p as far as resolution is concerned. It’s got quite ridiculous with some devices, not naming names and yes I’ve had one.

But I don’t care what anyone says, I struggle to see any advantage to a 4K screen in a 5 inch device when I use them. Maybe I should hold them up to my nose or something, but at the distance I hold my phones. Nah, waste of time. Hell I don’t see any jagged edges on text with my 7+ even when I zoom in as far as it’ll go.

As far as I’m concerned that nonsense is just marketing, a number for the masses to say mine is better than yours. Stick a 1080p in there and I’d actually be happier, the performance will be better and I’d sooner that than a willy wagging contest over resolution.

Who needs a comparison shot? Just post a picture of the X’s screen. People can see shades of white or yellow perfectly fine without “comparison” photos.

Unfortunately, all that would prove is the colour calibration of the camera as well as your monitor. The only real way to see / compare is in person. It's like watching an advert for a new 4k tv on your own TV and saying, OMG, look at those amazing colours?!?!

Interesting all macrumors has is complaints about this phone yet almost every legitimate reviewer says the display is far and away better than any iPhone made, even ones critical of apple.

Not looking to “prove” anything. Just a pic to see this horrible yellowish tint claimed.

Most people can gauge a color shift between yellow/white with a mobile device. Most.

LCD displays are no match for oled. Just look at the Note 8. Something is seriously wrong with the X if you aren’t impressed by it coming from an LCD.

Thankfully we can exercise our consumer rights, clearly the X is not for everyone. Anyone who feels they're not getting their hard earned money's worth should return the phone....i would without overthinking my choice!

The most painful aspect of the X is sticking with it whilst suffering in silence until the return date elapse

I haven't seen the X in person yet. But as others have said I'll reserve judgment for when I see one in person... and as others have said some prefer LCD.

I can't say which one I prefer as I have no experience with anything but Apple LCD since the Galaxy S3.

All I was saying is the 8 Plus display is gorgeous... and it is.

This reminds me of the Plasma/LED/LCD TV wars... I still use a Plasma. LOL

Or something is wrong with your judgement. This dude's written off the X since day one. Of course he's not going to 'see' something inconvenient for him, or at least he's unlikely to admit it, if his previous posts are anything to go by.

I have a good old LCD 1080P iPhone 8+ and QHD+ Samsung Galaxy S8+.

Sure the S8+ display is technically and visibly better, but overall I have been using my iPhone 8+ more often and prefer it for several reasons.

Display is only part of the story, but I will need to see the X in person before really having an opinion.

Same situation here except I have a iPhone 8 and Samsung Galaxy S8. I use the S8 for VR and got the S8 over the S8+ because of the slightly higher PPI.

For years, apple users have been stating that lcd>Oled because thats why apple use(d) lcd.
Now that Apple uses Oled, you suddenly expect the LCD/Oled equation to somehow reverse.

guys, i’m not a troll and i can’t post a photo because i haven’t neither got another camera, but believe me, x screen is good on blacks, totally terrible on everything else.
writing, quality, refresh... i want to return to my old iphone 8plus

My X screen is great, although at an angle it takes on this blue shift of colour, not sure if its supposed to be like that. Have read reports that pixel 2 had same issue..

You really shouldn't expect anything less from the Apple diehards.

They'll quickly jump ship based on the newest fad. If there was no X all we'd be hearing about was how great the 8 Plus is... but instead we get to hear about how the 3 year old design is "outdated" and the X is "so much better than the 8 Plus" despite sharing the same hardware.

LOL

How is he going to get a comparison shot of the two units together if the only cameras he has are on said units?

Read post #6 the OP states he "has 2 more units on hand and they all display the same behavior" by my count that's 4 phones, surely he can snap a picture of 2 of them using one of the other 2 cameras, don't you think?

I didn’t see that. I was only replying to what that other guy said about having two phones. Obviously he can do it if he has a third one.
