Not looking to “prove” anything. Just a pic to see this horrible yellowish tint claimed.

Most people can gauge a color shift between yellow/white with a mobile device. Most.

Just be mindful of what you do see. As a photographer / illustrator I could easily alter the image to give an unfair result.

Some of the yellow could also be a shift to a D65 colour profile which has a tendency to look yellow / green to begin with but is actually the best profile for view correct colour balanced images. We all become used to the blue tint of an uncalibrated screen and it is a bit of a shock when changing to one that is calibrated. Doesn't take long to adjust.

That said, I'd have to see one in person to make a call. Might pop in to the Apple store to have a look. I had the option to pickup a Silver 64g and a 256 Space tray (pre-ordered) but decided to stick with the 8+ for now.... cancelled them off so others could get their hands on them :)

Of course.

Just for kicks, here is a white sheet of paper against my X. Farthest thing from a yellowish tint possible. I left True Tone ON just to even try and make the tint veer towards less blue.

So overall I am pleased with my new X aside from one thing. I am coming from an iPhone 6s Plus and the max brightness on the X appears to be exactly the same as the 6S plus. I traded it in at the Verizon store so I can’t post a comparison picture, but it was verified by a couple of people in the store. Not that it isn’t a bright beautiful screen, I was just hoping for even brighter for outside.

I was just going to say this. We have gotten used to a very blue tinted screens. When I move to my editing screen for pictures it looks yellow for a bit but then my eyes get used to it.

Regarding the comment about off axis viewing of the screen and the pic looking worse. Ya possible cause oled panels don’t have a very wide viewing angle.

Mine didn’t come yet but I’m interested to see now.

How much better is the screen? Is it miles better?

Um, I am probably the wrong person to ask because I thought my last phone had a beautiful display. To me, it looks at least as beautiful if not a little more. But I wouldn’t say it is massively better. The icons look closer to the top and a little more rich and crisp. It’s a nice display, but I personally was not blown away by a big difference.

guys, i’m not a troll and i can’t post a photo because i haven’t neither got another camera, but believe me, x screen is good on blacks, totally terrible on everything else.
writing, quality, refresh... i want to return to my old iphone 8plus

I believe you and I feel exactly the same way too.

To be honest, I don’t own one but from my 10-min hands-on experience with the phone (I’m in NZ hence I got to do it before reading any of these forum threads so I’m not biased), I can say that the X’s display quality is not bad but definitely not as impressive as I thought it’d be.

I compared it with my 7 Plus and I couldn’t see a huge difference in terms of how the colours look. The screen was also underwhelmingly dimmed under bright shop’s lights.

Well, well. Trust me I’m not a troll. I was genuinely impressed when I saw Note 8’s display for the first time. Not with X’s.

Looks like the X pixels are arranged diagonally compared to the straight grid of the 8. No idea if that's normal for OLED or unique to the X, but in that photo I can notice a dot pattern that I don't see in the 8, and that makes the 8 looks nicer to me.

Maybe it looks better in person, and the photo is misleading, though.

Well in reality it all blends away because of the resolution. You can't see individual pixels, let alone subpixels. Plus Apple has implemented some heavy anti-aliasing to mitigate the normal pentile screen problems.

I've read that the 8 plus appears to have a sharper screen even though the X's OLED has a higher PPI.

I just got an iPhone X, been using it for a few hours. The screen is good. But it does not blow away the iPhone 8 Plus screen, or the iPhone 6 Plus screen, which is very much the same thing.

I have been comparing it to my iPhone 6 Plus, even playing with colour calibration, and in some respects there is very little difference at all between the two screen s. Where the 6 Plus LCD bests the X OLED screen is in tilted viewing angles: the iPhone X absolutely has a blue tint to it on angles. I don't like that obviously. The LCD performs better on tilted viewing.

In terms of sharpness the LCD is just as good if not better than the OLED as well.

Now, the narrow, tall form factor of the iPhone X I'm not liking either. Neither do I like the notch. We'll see over time...

i cannot believe that guy made THAT many scratches on this poor X already??
did you look at the camera bump?? i would expect that to happen after a year of use.

sounds that you're quite depressed about it.

After using the X and owning the 8 Plus my verdict is that the X is somewhat better than the 8 Plus, but it's not overwhelmingly better.

The X has a thinner glass and more pop with the colors. As well it does not seem to suffer from the powdery/grainy look that oled phones seem to have. I found that the surface glass reflectivity was about the same on both phones.

The negatives are that it does have a bit of pentile blur around character edges, there is a blue shift and it is a weird shape for video playback and using Safari.

That said, it's probably the best Oled I have seen and I would take it over the Note 8.

good honest feedback. thanks.

I also posted a similar thread. The screen and brightness is a disappointment. It looks very similar to the iPhone 6 and 7. It is not like the Note8 where it blows you away. I was let down for sure and expected more.

I disagree. The screen is great on mine and I had an 8 Plus for 2 weeks. Also, I compared mine to a display unit in BestBuy today and that one was way dimmer! The same settings all the way. So, I guess, all these screens vary greatly.

Interesting. I’ve only seen demo units in store and most looked dimmer than my 7 Plus. Maybe my actual X will look better, if UPS ever gets here...hopefully it looks a lot punchier than the ones Apple had on display.

Indeed lets see a pic lol
So I went to take a pic and it simply wasn’t worth posting. My X’s screen is a warmer yellow in person compared to my 8, but in the photo the X looks considerably cooler.

- color shift is bad.
- the screen looks just as sharp, not any sharper than before (both are perfect IMO)
-surprisingly warmer in temp...will return to Apple Store upon comparing to other X’s
- colors are slightly more vibrant, but not over saturated. Best I’ve ever seen on a phone

Ive never been a fan of oled due to its viewing angle color shift plus burn in. Thats why i bought 8+ ealier. To me i still think apple retina lcd is the best screen.
