I have it now and the viewing angle is bad it changes colour tint with a slight move of angle also it’s on the warm side

Maybe to the OP is isn’t good. Everyone sees things differently. Everyone’s eyes are different. If he doesn’t like the X that’s fine. Most people will like it just fine as others will not.

I have the 8 plus now and i gotta day it’s no doubt the best iPhone screen yet. Saturation, color and crispness is on point.

I can’t wait to see the OLED X omg

People incorrectly use PPI as an end-all number, but in reality, it’s not as black and white as marketers make it seem. You can use PPI to compare two screens, but only if the screens are using the same pixel arrangement. Otherwise, PPI is an inaccurate way to measure the sharpness of a screen.

A zoomed in view shows the two phones are very similar, but if anything, the 8 looks nicer to my eyes.

Waiting to see the X in person. I don’t really trust other people’s opinions about screen quality, as I’ve always felt Apple’s LCDs were the best screens on the market. Not many felt that way. I have faith that Apple did “OLED right”. I always enjoy Apple screens, throughout their entire product lineup.

That's fine, if it looks better to your eyes then that's what matters, everyone needs to be happy with their choices.

I spent a good amount of time debating the merits of the different pixel layouts before making my decision, I don't necessarily agree that a lower resolution and less pixels makes for a better display, but that's my eyes, I don't look so close that I can view each individual pixel.

To me any display regardless of it's pixel structure and even resolution, on a screen this small at the distances I view it at, loses many of the benefits which a higher resolution brings anyway.

But one that can display a huge contrast ratio, a brighter image, faster pixel response time and high dynamic range looks better than one that does not.

I went through the same thing before I decided on a 4K OLED TV, but in then end I just couldn't argue with the deep inky blacks and buttery smooth motion of the OLED. It even made the benefits of HDR more pronounced over the LCD's.

Colours, well that's another matter with some OLED screens, very often LCD wins out there.

I'm right with you on one thing, I also think Apple make quite simply the most amazing LCD screens to be found on any phone. I think they're better than some of the OLED's too, I'm just not so sure if they'll be better than an Apple OLED. Certainly every review of the X I've read, even the less enthusiastic reviews have been blown away by the X's screen compared to the 8/+.

Finally find out for myself soon thankfully, it's almost time to go get mine and I can promise you this much, if it looks worse I won't be bringing an X home with me, it'll be an 8 Plus. I refuse to accept a worse screen on a phone at that price.

Should, should, and should .... but it appears in this instance of real-life, that it doesn't

Oh dear.

reviewers didn't use theirs in real life? ;) I know what you mean though, but it is equally as likely that this person could have a faulty X, no?

I wouldn't suggest for one minute that Apple's hand-picked reviewers would never say anything negative on-record, through fear of being left out-in-the-cold for next years review units.... ;)

No pictures-no credibility. C’mon guys.

You assume people have other cameras available.....

For a start, we must try to put ourselves on a neutral position when comparing displays from iPhone 8 and X.
For sure, Apple won't be advertising X's display as bad (and in fact it isn't), but everyone used to OLED displays knows that it is not all advantages.
OLED has true blacks, but when it comes to whites, LCDs are way whiter.
Also, all OLED displays has notorious colour shifts when tilted.
Also, all of them will suffer from burnin.
It happens, it is related to OLED technology.
Do not buy all the marketing brands try to sell us.
And be aware when the manufacturer claims to have measures like burin prevention and other as that is only marketing.
Sure, the iPhone X has way more pixels, bit pixel arrangement on OLEDs are way differente from LCD and image seem to be a bit more pixelated (due to the pentile arrangement), so anyone with a good LCD next to an OLED might notice that.
As well as will notice that whites are way more white on LCDs, as well as less color shifting on LCD when compared with OLED when the phone is tilted.
At the end, it is a matter of taste.
You have to consider all pros and cons of both technologies and choose the most suitable.

Bad unit or a troll. Post pics for threads like this. Not saying OP made it up, but it's easy to make these things up without posting pics.

OP states that he “has both devices in hand”

So, what now?

You didn't reply to the OP, and there are multiple people on this thread complaining about the quality of the screen.

And "C'mon guys" implies you are targeting multiple people/posters.

I just received my X, and compared to my 7, the color tint is terrible : screen is yellowish as hell (my 7 was yellow but not as bad) and the tint does change from the side.

No picture for now because i'm restoring backup.

I’m sure I don’t know what you mean, are you suggesting possible underhanded tactics from a major company? Well surely that could never happen :D
