If this years accord is bigger than lastbyears and the design changed I’m happy.

If this years smaller factor iPhone is bigger and a chin and forehead were substituted for the notch, I won’t be as happy as in accord redesign.

It’s interesting you mention the Accord and its growth. There’s nothing wrong with adding features and space—but if that isn’t kept in check somehow (and assuming robots won’t take over for us sometime soon-ish) where would that ultimately leave the Accord? The answer is all around us. It’s happened in other models instead, however. And here in the US, lens aren’t as wide as they should be anymore. Stores like CostCo have added five feet in width to their parking spaces. Women that don’t even weigh 100 lbs. can be seen piloting a 6,000 lb. urban tank that they can’t see out of on their way to the gym in hopes of dropping another few grams of fat off their whatever. It’s totally absurd when you take a step back and look at the tools we’re using for the job of transportation. And we got there by each successive model being just a little bit “better” (i.e. bigger) than the last. It’s a very slippery slope and we’re already experiencing serious consequences.

Of course an iPhone isn’t a car, and the stakes aren’t so visibly high. But the same principles apply. Some might consider tablets excessive or wasteful—but they’re far, far better than having to carry around a half-pound phone that doesn’t fit in your pocket anymore (and that now seems to mandate a case, making it even bigger).

If nothing else, at least provide options. People who are so glued to their “digital portals” that switching to a tablet takes too much time can have whatever the f they want. But there should still be a smartphone-phone. The Xr is huge, fat, slippery device. And it doesn’t need to be. It might even be cheaper to make if some of the gristle was trimmed from it.

I really don’t have any idea what you’re talking about.

Really? No idea? Do you still use pads? Or live in a commune where TV is banned? I wouldn’t know how to phrase what I said any plainer. Maybe, iPhone now too big, too hard to hold, too excessive is almost all dimensions. Idk.

Charming.

You seem to have a lot of hostility toward women.

If this ends up being this year's iPhone, I'll be even more glad I didn't wait to get my XS last month. lol

I really dont understand the 4 camera design apple is going with if its true. Samsung and others have the same 4 camera style horizontal and thinner like the current verticale iPhones. Why doesnt apple go back to horizontal and go across the whole top of the phone?
It would stop all the wobbling on tables and actually look fine.
A kid can pick out the design of this being a step back I dont understand how apple designers think this thing looks remotely attractive.
Johny is sleeping or just doesnt care anymore.
While I can agree with many that the design is odd and even ugly, I think Apple has chosen this design in order to accommodate the unseen internal changes.

Wasn't the iPhone Xs Max the thickest and heaviest iPhone ever? They're going to make it even thicker?!?
Bigger and better cameras along with all the other tech require bigger batteries and Apple need to fit the camera module into the casing.

Before Apple stepped in most phones (most portable electronics, even) were made out of cheap plastic, looked even worse, and the ui was worse still. Now, everyone is a negative, opinionated aficionado.
Agree on your first statement but Apple are letting their design crown slip to the competition who no longer make cheap plastic phones. But I will always pick iOS on my phone over the rest.

....Now I still don’t know if I will choose the XI or the XI Max/Plus. I really hate the Max name. I love the size of my Plus and the XS has less real estate despite the taller screen. However the Max has a huge footprint and may not fit in my front pocket where I have always put all of my phones going back to my 1st phone, the Nokia 6180, when I was a freshman in high school.

If you are a Plus user then you need to review the size of the MAX again.

I believe this will be my 1st iPhone model that I'll skip on. The camera design is just ridiculous, and everything else seems pretty much the same. We need a smaller form factor on the Xs Max, and I'd be stoked if they get rid of the curved edges. Bring back the square flat edges like the 4 and 5's!

A smaller form factor for the Xs Max?! Then WTH would make it a Max? It’s the perfect size. If you want a smaller form factor buy an XS or XR.

Physical size of the Max is virtually the same as a 6s Plus, 7 Plus.

And who is “we”? I guess you mean “you” and it’s not all about you.
There’s plenty of size choices to please everyone except those that want the dainty SE.

It has nothing to do with women. It has to do with “design” that best resembles (coincidently) a feminine hygiene product. If you have a better male-centric metaphor I’m more than happy to use it instead.

Seems to.
So anything shaped like a slab looks like a feminine hygiene product? That includes pretty much all phones, many candy bars and power bars, paperback books, the list goes on.
Earlier you made direct comparison that they look like tampon applicators. You must know some strange women.
It’s a child-like obsession. Why does there need to be a gender association at all?

Sure, I understand that but apple can move things around and change things to accommodate a more pleasing design. The horizontal way Samsung does it doesn't bother me at all it looks good.
For a company that claims to put a lot of praise in their design redesigning the internals to make the outside more pleasing should be taking more seriously. One of the richest companies in the world can redesign it all no issue.
So still I see no reason for apple to release something that looks like that.

If you’re making a comparison to an iPhone, there seems to be little resemblance... yeah I don’t see it, sorry. You seem to think so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Your comment speaks for itself, doesn’t it?

Regarding the iPhone 11, I think it looks great. The camera bump seems a little too close to the edge, and the logo is definitely too high in my opinion.

The only phone that will sell is the black one. The lighter color phones back look horrible.

It does make sense though to require a few lenses as one lenses can not take all the images properly and compete with other smartphones. Smartphone needs a Macro, tele and wide angle lens for better image quality. I recently bought a smartphone with 3 lenses and can understand how this works now. There is an advantage to having this kind of camera setup. Looks wise is another story though but some do look good. The Huawei P30 Pro Camera Lens setup on the back looks good actually.
Apple is just trying to catch up with the Lenses as they have been with RAM :p

Ram isn’t needed as much as required on android though

My max takes great photos and for most it’s more than enough but yes if you can get better pics you take it as that and performance/apps are the key areas for a top smart phone

True, Apple is playing catch up with the lenses. But they are the leader in color fidelity and dynamic range.

It’s nice to have both actually, the iPhone and P30 Pro. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Depends on what matters most to you. I find that apps from Apple’s App Store work better on iPhone compared to apps from Google’s Play Store on the P30 Pro but this again depends on what app you are talking about. Seems to vary from app to app.
