Thicker?!? A PHYSICAL SWITCH?!? ARE THEY MAD? Such things would have Tim Cook spinning in his GRAVE!

And he’s not even DEAD! That’s how much that would upset him! It would cause him to dig his own grave, (with a prototype iShovel, no less,) DIE, fall INTO his grave, and commence to SPINNING in it. Or maybe even it might be so upsetting, that he’d DIE, THEN go dig his own grave, climb into it, and proceed to SPIN, while, let’s not forget, deceased. He might even be so nonplussed to learn of this development, that he might dig his own grave, NOT die, bring a stationary bike, place THAT in his grave, climb atop with a set of headphones and an iPhone, and start SPINNING in his own grave!

If you want to give him a straight-up HEART ATTACK, on the next iPhone... put the HEADPHONE JACK back, Jack! If you want to guarantee he not only die, but have, in addition to a heart attack, a stroke to boot, give the new iPhone a user-accessible and replaceable BATTERY, and even upgradeable MEMORY! That would absolutely kill him dead, and cause him to spin in his grave so hard you could wire him up and use his corpse as a dynamo!

I now own almost half a dozen iPhone SE’s, JUST to make sure I never have to buy another defective-by-design pile of garbage iPhone with no headphone jack, or that is, oh, ever tho thlim and thkinny, from Apple again. If they want my future business, they’ll have to make an iPhone SE 2. Otherwise, I’m done paying them for junk like this with no headphone jack, no user-replaceable battery or expandable storage... Just DONE with them.

Indian blog CashKaro has collaborated with OnLeaks to share new renders of the so-called "iPhone XI" and "iPhone XI Max," providing a side-by-side comparison of the expected successors to the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

iPhone-XI-vs-iPhone-XI-Max-1-800x450.jpg

Both new iPhones are expected to stick with the same 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED displays as the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, but the thickness of each device is said to increase to 8.1mm and 7.8mm respectively as previously reported. Both the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are 7.7mm thick.

Apple's depth measurement does not include the camera bump, so with the slight reduction in size expected there, the change in overall thickness between 2018 iPhones and 2019 iPhones may be negligible.

iPhone-XI-vs-iPhone-XI-Max-2-800x444.jpg

As widely rumored by now, the new iPhones are expected to feature a triple-lens rear camera system in a triangular arrangement. While the camera bump has a larger square-shaped design, it appears to be less protruding, as the rear panel of each device is said to be formed out of a "single piece of glass."

The renders also suggest that 2019 versions of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will feature a redesigned circular-shaped mute switch within a pill-shaped cutout, similar to the one on older-generation iPads.

Beyond that, the renders suggest that 2019 iPhones will be similar to 2018 iPhones in many ways, complete with the same notch, bezels, stainless steel frame, Lightning connector, speaker grilles, and volume buttons. This would be more or less the same design as Apple has used since the iPhone X in 2017.

In addition to the static images, CashKaro and OnLeaks teamed up to create a 360-degree video of the renders:

Apple should unveil its next-generation iPhone lineup in September as usual alongside Apple Watch Series 5 models and other announcements. While not shown here, a new iPhone XR is also widely expected with a dual-lens rear camera system, up from a single lens on the current model.

“And one more thing...

The beautiful new iPhone Xi and Xi Plus are designed to fully complement the sophisticated, hectic lives of today’s city dwellers. The three camera unit also serves double-duty as a miniature inductive cooktop. Starting October 1, Apple will offer its own line of miniature cookware, meticulously styled to match your new iPhone in either space gray or rose gold.”

I don’t have a problem with the black back version at all, but the silver mock-up is not good. That mock-up should have an all-black camera bump (which still wouldn’t be as appealing to me as the all-black back however) and the Apple logo is obviously too high in both renders.

I actually like the colored backs to the camera, versus the all black.

This mock up is so much better, than before. However, I'm still not upgrading from my Xs Max. Everyone knows (especially now with Qualcomm back in the fold) that the 2020 iPhone is the one you really want.

There will really have to be a feature besides 3 camera's, that'll get the iPhone X and above crowd to upgrade. It'll be interesting to see what Apple has in store for us. Personally, I'm looking forward to iOS 13 and what enhancements it'll bring to iPhone, more than any hardware upgrades.

For the sake of repetition, iPhone 2020 (and everyone knows) is what anyone really wants. If the prices aren't competitive, I fully expect a repeat of last year's sales.

Iphone's UI isn't mindblowing but it's just right, which is an amazing accomplishment in design.

But until the X the bodies looked like higher end plastic toys, glorified ipods. Same with the early ipads, imacs, macbooks.

That's good because they weren't intended to look like technical gadgets. Can't argue with success.

The X and XI should have stuck with the circle for the rear camera.

I absolutely LOVE the look of the dual lens, on iPhone X and above. It really makes the phone stand out and seems like it should of always been. The horizontal on iPhone 7+, 8+ just looks stupid now.
[doublepost=1556484666][/doublepost]Also, can we stop with the USB-C nonsense already!? Lightning is perfect for iPhone, therefore no need to change it.

I use wireless charging exclusively anyway. USB-C is much to do about nothing FRFR!!! You guys are getting as annoying as the "small" iPhone people. REEELAXXXX!!!

I'm old enough to recall when Gillette safety razors came with one blade you dropped into the head. Then came the Gillette Sensor with two blades. The sensor excell added a lubrication strip. Then came the Gillette mach 3, with 3 blades. The Mach 3 turbo added a lubrication strip. Schick beat them to 4 blades, so Gillette skipped 4 and came out with the Fusion with 5 blades, and the Fusion Proglide added a lubrication strip. The Fusion 5 proShield added TWO lubrication strips.... and now people are moving back to straight razors and old-school safety razors with one blade.

Compare that to the iPhone that had one camera. The iPhone 4 added a second (forward facing) camera. The iPhone 5 added a flash while the iPhone 6 gave a dual-tone flash. The iPhone 7 added a second rear camera. And now the iPhone XI goes to 3 rear cameras. Something tells me we'll soon see Huawei and Samsung put 4 cameras on the back of their phones, and Apple will put 5 cameras on the back of theirs.... And then retro will be in vogue and we'll be back to one again.

thicker? wow seriously? tell me this isn't real, I've been asking for them to make it a bit thicker for a while now to get rid of the stupid camera bulge and make the battery thicker... that would destroy the competition

What's the point of the mute switch? Can't that be done in software? They should just get rid of it. Next casualty after the headphone jack.

It is very useful be able to silence a notification/call/ad quickly and without looking at/fiddling with the device. Also, to know by feel/look whether your phone is silenced or not.

What would be really nice would be if this could somehow integrate with and mirror DND. Also, if silenced mode was just the default - I usually do not want any sound except through explicit action - playing a movie or song.

Seriously apple, stop adding cameras.

I like them. Just not that much. It doesn't add an incredible amount of value to the device, it adds an incredible amount of cost. I would prefer you add storage instead.

I'm really beginning to see the Xs as the best phone, but I still hate the camera bump.

Users demand. They look at others and say "I want that in an Apple product"

And if Apple didn't do it, they would forever be "the black sheep", which will never go away..

Users would always point out "Don't buy this because it doesn't have ... camera system

This year it's going to be all about the camera for me. If it blows me away I'm in. If not, it's X for another year and maybe a newer pixel as my work device.

Edit: usb c too. Lightning is no sale.

It is more likely they come out with 15W wireless charging and kill the final port on their phone than for them to switch to USB-C. Although I suppose the size of the USB-C port might explain why the phone is getting thicker.
[doublepost=1556492657][/doublepost]
I don’t care either way but if USB-C isn’t superior why did they make the switch on the iPad Pro?
Because interoperability and fast charging. There's a lot of software limits on the iPad today in terms of what hardware is supported, but that could all change with the next OS release.

My money is on "Marzipan" meaning just as much of the iPad getting Mac app and platform features as it means iPad apps can be deployed on the Mac.

Is there any information/rumors as to what the three lenses will be? Portrait/2x telephoto/wide angle?

I don’t have any issue with the appearance of the design but my big question is how will it handle third party attachable lenses.

I'd love for this to be true both ways. It'd be great to be able to pair and fully use an Apple Watch with an iPad (Mini) rather than requiring an iPhone. I know this wouldn't work for everyone, but I could do without an iPhone and really not have to change much.

I was really hoping they reduce the weight! I held a Samsung Galaxy S10+ recently and it felt fantastic. So sleek and light. I want to get the Max version for my next phone, but the heavy weight keeps me away.
Yeah (for their biggest size phones S10 plus v XS max) the 33 grams (1.16 oz) is really a deal breaker!! (The smaller sizes are less than 1oz difference) I'd be willing to bet you can't even tell the difference if you did a "blind" weight test (6.17oz vs 7.34oz)

These kinds of statements really crack me up! Now if you'd have just said you prefer the look/feel of the S10 I could side with you on that... but a 1.16 oz difference in weight? Not so much.
[doublepost=1556499683][/doublepost]
In my opinion it's not worth the price over the Xr...
I fixed your quote for you!

I have the XS max and just picked up the XR for my daughter... it's a great phone.... and although I agree partially with your statement, I believe you'd be hard pressed to find a major following of people that would agree with you 100%.

This is a joke, right? If the slight difference in weight is stopping your purchase, I’d dare say you have a serious health issue that needs to be addressed.

It’s got to a point where the only thing Apple are redesigning is the mute switch
Lol
Fine, whatever. Just get the price down
Finally a comment I can agree with!!

I started to say something similar but figured the MR gestapo would send me a nice message telling me how I shouldn't make such comments lol. 33 gram difference between the s10 plus and the xs max... the smaller sizes are less than an ounce.

That’s why in recent years there was much more leaked information than Steve’ era.

Because after a few months of talking, people will have accepted the ugly features.

Lol

I actually did not write that as an insult. I have problem hands/fingers and can feel the weight. But personally I like it, feels substantial.

Don't care what it looks like as long as it can match or exceed the Huawei P30 Pro.'s low-light shooting capabilities.

I don't have any problems with these "camera thing", but the apple logo (on those renderings) is placed much to close to that "thing"…

Apple needs to pay more attention to their iPhone . Getting all these services such as Apple News+ , Live streaming TV , Apple Credit Card is great but not when it turns the two year iPhone refresh cycle into three years
Customers are not going to buy an iPhone for the available services as opposed to great hardware. And for those upgrading the draw isn’t there if these features all work on their old iPhones.

That is simply grotesque and I would not buy one, I don’t care how good the camera is. The camera has been perfectly good enough since the iPhone 4, and frankly I struggle to see the difference between the camera on the XR and that on the 4S. It’s very low down the list of priorities, much lower then aesthetics
