Sorry. When XR on top of Max width is almost the same. Only difference is height.

Geez, is the Xr really that close to the XsMax in terms of width? I think this is the first time I've seen, so closely, the two stacked on top of each other.
 
Lucky! I rem your post when you got the xs max gold one day before launch. Nice friend! Thanks for posting. How’s the screen compared to the max?

I think there is a 2.3mm difference in the width. I'm willing to bet I'll be able to feel the difference between my 8 Plus and the XR.

Yeah, I just looked that up. I initially figured the height to width difference ratio would be close to the screen ratio of 19.5:9. Since the height difference is 6.6mm, that would theoretically make the width difference around 3mm. I know that’s a very rough estimate. Anyway, there must be some other factors at play here.

Is the oled of the Max really that much better in appearance than the lcd of the XR? Looking at my max and 8+ it’s not a huge difference to me.

Correct me if Im wrong, But I think the iPhone XR screen is closer to the iPhone 7 or 8 and not the plus versions as they are 1080p.

Uhm, how so? I actually think it looks better than the XS or Max. The backs especially make them more interesting and fun.
 
Well now I’m even more excited! I’m getting white and it looks really good!!

I realize the pics probably don’t show perfect detail, but the screen looks really good too!

The XR and Max have very similar widths in terms of enclosure size, however the display on the XR is significantly less wide.

Display width
  • Max = 2.71"
  • XR = 2.54"
  • Xs = 2.46"

I like the simplicity of the back for sure with only having the single camera, but the bezels around the front are a step back over the X/Xs. It just looks chunkier to me for lack of a better term.

While it’s possible, I’m going to go out on a limb and say any friend that works for Apple wouldn’t allow someone to take demo phones home and use them when they aren’t to be powered on until release day, and they definitely wouldn’t do it more than once since they would likely lose their job after the first time.

Either way, congrats on being the first to have one in hand in the US. It is just a phone after all, and people will claim anything to get their 5 minutes of internet fame.

Friend works for Sprint. He let me come in and play with a demo unit X before release date. Still works for Sprint.

hey buddy how different is this white from, iphone 8 silver, even though iphone 8 is called silver but looks like white.

If I read the exterior width difference in an above post correctly, it is 1.7mm - now in this post, the screen width difference is 1.7mm - they would have to have equal bezels and that isn’t the case.

Something is amiss. Could be me - it is late.

Not sure where you are getting 1.7mm difference in screen width? 0.17in is 4.318mm. The bezel would then be ~2.16mm thicker.
