One of my XR has a noticeable colour shift, the other has a very minimal colour shift. I'm keeping the one with the minimal colour shift.

Interesting. Is it noticeable because you’re looking for it or is it noticeable at regular viewing angles? The way the Verge displayed it seemed extreme to me. The only time I might actually view it at that angle is if I left it on a flat service and was glancing at it.

Yes it’s very close in width. Almost identical.

It seems that anybody thinking that the XR will be noticeably more manageable than the max may be disappointed, I guess the reduced weight will have a bigger influence than the dimensions here?

To me, it’s not the device dimensions that threw me off about the Max, it was how big the screen actually is in hand. Coming from a Plus the body is the same, but in actual usage it requires new hand positions/shifting to use it one handed.

What store would have that decor and a half burnt candle on the table? Or are you trying to say that isn't even the poster's hand? Why would anyone make a fake post about this? Are people usually that crazy here?
It’s not blurry enough.

Yes, it's what I'm surprised with. I have an X bit wanted bigger, but not Max big. Seemed perfect, bit looking at side by side I'm a little concerned now when I go for my Xr now

These both sided glass phones seems to be thick and heavy compared to my 6.9 mm iPhone 6 with 129 grams. Ordered the case for the XR already (silicone with Glas back) and it weights an additional 40 grams. So I decided to switch to a bumper with glass screen protectors on both sides to save some weight...

Don’t forget that it’s quite a fair bit thicker than the XS which might help in hand a little? That’s what I’m expecting / hoping!

That sounds like a good idea... could you possibly link to the bumper and back glass protector?!

Yeah, I just looked that up. I initially figured the height to width difference ratio would be close to the screen ratio of 19.5:9. Since the height difference is 6.6mm, that would theoretically make the width difference around 3mm. I know that’s a very rough estimate. Anyway, there must be some other factors at play here.
Thicker bezel probably cancels out a lot if the width reduction from the screen

I noticed it because I am fussy and test for this kind of stuff as soon as I get a new phone. :)

I’ve got the Xs Max and the XR. The XR feels more like my X did in my hand. I can also notice the difference in weight.

I am posting this from an XR. Phhwooooar what a phone!

There is some colour shift. However, the point at which it makes a material difference is the point at which you would never choose to use the screen at that angle.

In other words, the colour shift is slight in a generous viewing field. At extreme angles, ones you couldn’t even watch TV shows from, it is more pronounced.

I’d say the screen dimming is more obvious than the colour shifting. Likewise, it’s really quite immaterial.

My god, the camera is ace. Also, I viewed this screen right next to an XS and could not see a difference in sharpness at a sensible, ‘phone using’ distance.

Edit - you can see it if sharing the screen from being sat at opposite sides of a table. I know because I just showed this post to my friend. Really though, that’s a pretty atypical viewing angle.

Thanks for sharing.

Any chance you can post a few pictures of the XR and Max side by side with same content open? For ex, both on home screen, both with safari open showing macrumors.com or something? I ask as they both have same real estate in terms of point resolution, but obviously the Max is physically larger so everything will be drawn slightly larger. Thanks

Sorry mate out of the shop now.

Screen is fine. No issues with LTE and WiFi. She’s upgrading from an iPhone 8. Like I mentioned in the beginning this XR is for my girl. Now the XR is a nice device but people are in for a big surprise. That surprise is that the XR vs Max sizing isn’t that noticeable. It’s a tad shorter and weighs a tad less. XR is not a one handed phone. Sorry to those who love and desire a one hand in device in 2018 with small hands/fingers. BTW I have small hands too. But let’s be honest going on forward forget tiny small devices. These sizes will be the norm. So might as well start adapting now. I was never a fan of big phones but today I’m using and loving my Max. I adapted quickly. Using the X did help with that size transition. Again overall XR looks like a good solid device. It will become what the SE was.

There it is ...
To those who wonder about the color: it’s a very light blue with a tint of yellow. Lighter than it looks on the picture. Not entirely sure yet if I‘m happy with it ...

I am upgrading from 6S. Really good first impressions from Xr... The display is really nice... Much better than the one on 6S.

Looks good. The bezels bother me and I can already tell the screen isn't for me, but I agree that I think the XR will be perfect for a ton of people, especially those looking for a more affordable option. Nice to have a variety of options from Apple.
