Seriously thinking about returning my GMax for a yellow XR.
What are the specs on that GMax?

I would say more than 2.5 to 1, maybe even 5 to 1. Just pulling that figure out of my a** :)
I wouldn't believe that. In any case the analysts are saying the XR will likely represent 50%+ of unit sales, with the XS Max around 20%. The remaining 30% will be split between the XS, 8 Plus, 8, 7 Plus, and 7.

Please no... I always hated the white cause I could see the camera that just needs to burn
Not just the camera and other nearby sensors. I am bothered by the thin black border between the actual display (when the screen is on) and the bezel.

I'm excited about the Xr. I would appreciate a OLED screen, but I actually like my current LCD screen on my iPhone 7 quite a bit. I like that the XS is definitely a step above in the screen, camera, and phone bands, but the Xr still has a very good camera, face id, and all the speed of the XS.

My plan is to buy the 128 GB Xr for $800 plus $150 in AppleCare. Buying the XS would be $1150 for the 256 version (64 GB is just too low, but 128 is plenty) plus another $200 for AppleCare. That's a difference of $400, and I'll take the cash to help me pay for all the other Apple stuff I want.

Will XR support real-time depth effect for photo? Apple mentioned that it will in the Photos app for changing the depth of field after the fact but how about in real-time while taking a photo in iOS 12.1 for Xs and Max?
Also, does the depth effect work on videos on Xs and Max?

You get what you pay for. And this is never so pertinent where Apple is concerned.

They are not going to make the XR better than the XS, in the same way a Range Rover Sport is not better than a Range Rover Vogue. They both do almost exactly the same thing, but you always know which is the better car, even if the Sport looks like better value for money.

My XS is a perfect upgrade from my IP7, now I have got over the Face ID thing.

The iPhoneXR will probably outperforms every single phone in the market right now including the XS's. This is the reason why Apple puts on hold on this colorful beast. All those extra processing power driving the LCD display instead on extra large high resolution high density display that where all the extra power coming from.

Actually, the XR beats the XS in two key factors:

1) Screen display area and information on screen. The XR is not only a bigger screen, it's also displays 22% more information than the XS.

2) Battery life. The XR should have about 25% longer battery life than the XS.

Can we tell from FCC filing if XR model has better RF performance in comparison to XS? Better reception will make it news worthy
I did a quick glance at the reports, paying particular attention to "EIRP average" and "maximum antenna gain" sections. From what I can tell, and I am not an expert by any means, it looks like XR is about half way between iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone XS Max.

UPDATE: Andrew Shepherd just tweeted:

iPhone XR authorization filing now uploaded to FCC OET database. iPhone XR loses 4x4 MIMO antenna from iPhone XS/Max. But restores higher antenna gain, hence greater RF power output.

The OLED screen uses PWM which causes serious issues for everyday use for me and many other other people. I didn't even know I was sensitive to this, but using the XS gives me a headache. Hoping the LCD fixes that for me. OLED is so pointless.

Oh. That's confusing, because there is actually a series of phones called Gmax.
Hmm. Didn't know. I'll call it gXSM from now.

Pointless on a phone (for you), but TVs are great.

XS and XS Max's main advantages:
  • OLED with deep contrast, wider viewing angle, HDR capabilities, and smaller bezel
  • 2x telephoto rear camera lens
  • 3x retina and higher pixel density
  • 4GB RAM instead of 3GB
  • 3D Touch
  • 4x4 MIMO and gigabit LTE for faster cellular performance (although for now, it seems at the expense of reduced antenna power)
  • Thinner
  • Better water proofing
  • Available in 512GB capacity
XR's main advantages:
  • $250-350 cheaper
  • Same screen real estate as iPhone XS Max, but roughly halfway in size between XS and XS Max
  • Longest battery life
  • More traditional 2x2 antenna design for better reception
  • Available in many colors
  • Available in 128GB capacity for $50 more
  • LCD is not prone to burn in (although I doubt anyone would leave the phone running with the screen on for several hours frequently enough to risk it)
