I just don't get all the color schemes. If you value your iDevice, the first thing you do after unwrapping it is put a shatter-proof case on it, thereby hiding all that glorious "color" (and hopefully the Apple logo on the back, too). Unless, of course, you get your jollies with scratches and cracked screens.

Just knowing that your phone is a certain color is enough, especially when you take it out of the case for the times you need to clean it.

Ever heard of “transparent”?

Actually what we need to truly enjoy our smartphones, almost like being bare, are more tempered glass options. Namely, rear tempered glass.

Imagine having a good quality, oleophobic tempered glass both in the back of the smartphone and on the front. A couple of tempered glasses that seamlessly integrate into the glass, letting you appreciate all the beauty of the smartphone while protecting it.

Sadly, companies don't make rear tempered glass covers, they just make tempered glass for the front display. Since most of the smartphones nowadays have rear glass, they should start making rear tempered glass protectors.

I think that maybe you’re being a little over sensitive on Apple’s behalf.
I think that maybe people don’t understand the difference between updated colors and upgraded phones. I’m happy to set them straight!! Seems like maybe you’re being a little over sensitive on behalf of Apple-hate.

Updated 11R colors rumor: swapping out coral and blue for lavender and green.

11R upgraded feature rumors: see summary in post #56 above:

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/27353344/

See the difference? That’s why it doesn’t make any sense to complain about 11R upgraded features in an article about updated colors!!

Many of the plastic cases make the iPhone look old and cheap. I see it in public transport all the time. Why is that suit using such an old... oh... it's an iPhone X. Yikes.

I guess Apple know which colours are selling or not and they know what colours are 'in' fashion-wise for 2021, so...

I wonder if they're going to keep the XR on sale (with a price cut) in just black and white like they've done in previous years with other models?
They may. They are definitely going to drop 7 from the lineup though.

I may sound crazy, but what would you think about Apple introducing individialized iPhones? Chosing from a whole color palette online, built to your liking. It certainly worked for Nike (ID)...

I thought blue would have been the most popular after black and white. Weird.

And another advantage of having a case is the ability to change colour when you get bored of the one you have. I don't change the case often, but it is nice to have the option. And the phone is more protected, my silicon cased saved my phone a couple of times so I'm glad I always have one on.

Apple's colorful iPhone XR lineup comes in a total of six colors, offering plenty of options for users to choose one that best suits their preferences. This year's successor to the iPhone XR will similarly be available in six colors, but Mac Otakara says Apple will be tweaking a couple of the options.

Mac Otakara's examples of expected 2019 iPhone XR colors

According to the report, the 2019 iPhone XR will be available in new Green and Lavender colors, which will replace the current Coral and Blue colors. The other current colors of White, Black, Yellow, and (PRODUCT)RED will continue to be offered on the next-generation models.

Mac Otakara also claims to have some information on cases for the next-generation iPhone XS and XS Max models, indicating that silicone cases for the new models will likely come in White, Black, (PRODUCT)RED, and shades similar to the current Spearmint and Mellow Yellow cases, as well as one that's close to the current Lilac leather case.

I've posted this before. I dislike the stupid pastel colors and prefer these instead.

The new XR would look awesome in these colors, especially with the glass finish (I still prefer aluminum but I understand with signal issues and grip).

Colors are great. I have a blue XR with a clear Spigen TPU case. People that want a naked phone have the nice colors to choose from. Those who want a clear case also get to choose colors. Those who want a super protective case that will cover up the color are not harmed by the availability of the colors. Everyone wins a chicken dinner

Lavender you say?

I just bought a Pixel 3A (as I believe it to be the only 'good' mid-range option at the moment) and it also comes in a (very) faint purple. Too faint.

Hoping to see a return to bold colors from Apple.

Ok, this is very pleasing to look at. For a second I felt like I’ve seen something great again. The last time I felt this way was when iPhone 5s in gold was introduced.
