iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max Now Available for Pre-Order

This is always the case (the fee). Usually sim free isn’t available for IUP at launch. I honestly didn’t even look this time; but getting one sim-free would’ve solved your problem.

Where do you see Sim Free?

Those phones are not usually available for a few months.

Absolutely not worth upgrading to the Xs, unless you live in a cheap country like US where everything is utterly cheap!

I sold my iPhone X before the XS was announced and I sold it for $849 9 months after I bought it in Jan (2018).
 
Wow, smooth as silk using the app. Got my max order in at 3:03 EST with IUP pre-approval, AW S4 at 3:06, both 9/21 delivery. I see the XS Max 256 space gray delivery has already slipped to 9/28-10/5.

Had to order via ATT website in order to pay a small balance in order to upgrade early. Apple's website wouldn't let me do that. Ordered 256GB Xs and 256GB Xs Max both Space Gray, delivery on 9/21.

My Apple.com order kept saying there was a problem processing my request. Went through AT&T and had no problem.

There definitely was an option to select the SIM-free version during the preapproval. Oh well, lesson learned for next year.

Ordered 2 XS-MAX Gold 256 GB at 3:02am/3:03am using App Store (iUP Program)... received confirmation emails 10 mts/12 mts after placing order; 9/21 delivery for both.

Also, received 9/21 order confirmation for 44 mm SS Black GPS+Cellular Apple Watch... order placed at 3:10am (all times above are Eastern).

One if not the best pre-order year / process!
 
Crap I got the att one and didn’t see there was a sim free. I paid it in full. Is still the same phone ?
 
Ordered right as the app finally went live with my pre-order stuff already input and checked out within a minute for a 128GB silver Max on T-Mobile... got the confirmation screen but no email even 20 minutes later. Nothing showing in either my Apple ID email account or my Apple email account. Nothing showing in My orders in the app or on the web browser. Finally bit the bullet and put another order in but the time slipped to sept28-Oct 5th. immediately got an email with that order though. Will definitely be calling later today with the original confirmation order to see what happened with that and if I can get a day 1 delivery still.

Oh, in case you are curious, I got the iPhone XS in gold, 512GB, and the stainless watch, 44mm, with GPS and cellular, with Milanese loop band. I actually broke a VERY long tradition of black/gray phones. I've had every iPhone since the 3GS and I always went with the darkest color. I can't believe I ordered gold! And this will be my first watch in the larger size - I've had every version in the smaller size. My daughter is going to inherit a lot of bands...

Don't beat yourself up about not having called Citi. The year I used my Citi card I called them at least twice, oh yes, it'll go through, and got the same fraud alert. Those people can screw up a 1-car funeral. Oh, and their mess didn't screw up my delivery date.

Hopefully my XS iUP went through. Still haven't received any email and it doesn't show up under orders like my subsequent Apple Watch order did. The thing was at the top to do my preorder still but when I clicked on it it said there was nothing there to upgrade so I'm hoping that means it worked properly.
 
Got mine ordered. Upgrading from X to Xs Max 256 Space grey, in Store pickup at 9am
