It'll be locked to ATT carrier. Because you paid in full you may have to ask ATT to unlock it.
...just got my 1st iPhone (256GB XS MAX) & this is my 1st msg too, geez ! ...coming from a Nexus 6P & actually ordered MAX from it ! Apple website was pretty easy, must say ! never owned iPhone but familiar w/iOS...use a '14 Pro Retina 15" so felt like rounding out everything...looks like this is gonna be fun...oh, did i 4get ? splurged & gotta series 4 GPS/CELL 44 MM Gold SS w/Stone Sport Band...eh, why not ? YOLO, rite ?!! KA-CHING !

Apple failed me. Kept refreshing the app had to change to cellular got in at 1206. Shipping date is oct 5 for XS Max 512GB SG at&t and I had pre approval. On top of that they still want to charge me an extra citizens one payment for the iPhone X even though I made 12 payments. I’m slightly pissed right now. Hopefully the shipping date will improve and I’m sure I’ll have call citizens one after the order to get a refund. Bs

Haven't been able to get a reservation done for HK or even log in to Apple account for China website. My colleague was able to get in and place an order for me on the China website through her phone, but she's only gotten an email about receipt of payment and nothing about shipping confirmation.
Hopefully everything's fine and it'll ship day one, but just in case I'm still furiously trying to get a reservation to pick up in-store in HK as a back up.

Assume you mean paid in full? If so you might have to ask ATT to unlock it and they will.
It will be unlocked. It will just ship with an att sim that activates when you turn it on and you get hit with the $30 activation fee.
Thrilled my orders went through so fast, despite living in a very rural area with garbage bandwidth. Apple.com came up much later than the app, app was so smooth and fast. And funny, the app came up later on my iPad than on my iPhone. I was hoping for a smooth max pre-order since I had my IUP pre-approval but I thought the AW would be a cluster, not. Relieved. In past years it's sometimes taken me an hour or two to get through.
Not hard to unlock though. Just have to ask.
We always go down to ATT because I do a switcheroo - once I get my new phone, I hand the year old one down to my daughter, then take her phone (now two years old) off the account and sell it.
Do the same thing with the watch. She is so spoiled.
Got my order for Xs Max gold 64gb in through Verizon.
Anyone else get a weird popup from Verizon saying you’d no longer be eligible for the annual trade in program if you got the Xs Max (implying I can’t get a new phone next year)? I agreed and put my order in. Figured I’d sort out those details later, but that doesn’t sound right, unless the program is going away.

You should be fine. My AW order showed right away and I got the email right away. Had to wait for the max order to show up and to get the email.
