iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max Orders Now Shipping After Erroneous 'Shipment on Hold' Status

For those who buy several iPhones and Watches - why do you do this? Do you plan on keeping some of them unboxed just to collect them?

It's about having the latest and greatest every year even though it's < waste of money, most people just sell the old phone or pass it to a family member, others keep it for their own collection of life memories after all these are devices in which we spend almost everyday with and they create memories.

My plan was to intercept the delivery and have them hold it at the UPS store instead of doing the whole Apple store thing. When I tried to change the delivery, it said Monday the 24th. Seriously, UPS?

One reason could be additional members in the household. And then Some will sell the additional items they purchased with the intention of re-selling them on sites like eBay to for an inflated price above the MSRP to make a profit. Because they know there will be some who are desperate enough to pay ludricous prices for an iPhone or Apple Watch.

I've about talked myself out of upgrading. I usually upgrade every two years, not every year, my 7+ cost me a net of $219 with my iPhone 6 trade in credit ($650). I just cant stomach $1149 plus tax for a 256gb XS. I also only need about 1/3 of that memory, but no 128gb option would force me into a 256 as a 64gb wouldn't be enough.

So AT&T's order page still shows "Order in progress." My Xs Max shows "Preparing to ship," while my watch says "in progress." I got an email this morning that my phone has shipped, but the order page has not yet updated. I just now received a text telling me that "part of my order has shipped."

I'm not panicing, yet, that my watch hasn't shipped. ... yet.

My order that was placed on the preorder date but was delayed till the 28th through the 7th of October shipping window was charged to my card this morning so hopefully its ready to ship soon!

If you mean the people showing more than one phone or watch on the tracking sheets, well it’s probably theirs and whatever they ordered for a family member or friend.

There used to be people on here who would resell unboxed merchandise but that rarely happens now. Scalping is a hassle. Even legitimate resale is a pain with so many scammers out there now. I know we just either keep old items for family or trade in for credit back.

My ATT Wireless NEXT pre-order XS MAX shipment notification was sent about 3am, tracking shows friday delivery to my home, sometime before 8pm. pretty seamless to me as a customer of ATT on this upgrade from my 8Plus.

I doubt if long lines will happen. First, supplies appeared to be better than last years. Secondly, the demand is not overwhelming. Thirdly, people like me who want their Apple devices on launch day have learned to pre-order and have it mailed to arrive on launch day.
We don’t know demand at all. Very difficult to predict since we don’t know supply and even if we did, we can’t track orders.

Have to wait for numbers.

Oh interesting... if you paste your tracking numbers into Notes you can use Quick Look to check out the status!

Interesting, I did change the delivery to the UPS CC where items arrive and the date did not change, it's still tomorrow, 9/21 but I did that a few days ago.

My phone and watch departed Anchorage over 48 hours ago (using the 10 digit phone number / track by reference method)

Then early this morning, Apple sends the tracking numbers for both.

Still hasn’t been updated. I think if Apple did send my tracking numbers earlier, I would have received the ‘Shipment On Hold’ notification.

Hopefully it all comes tomorrow as it says.

I changed mine as well and it showed the 24th but UPS said it's still coming tomorrow. FINGERS CROSSED!

I changed my delivery to a UPS Store on 9/18 and it showed a delivery date of 9/24 but my delivery date never officially changed. I talked to UPS twice and they said it would be delivered tomorrow on 9/21.

I upgrade my forefront devices when the new stuff comes out, most people buy multiple in one swipe to accommodate family or loved ones but I'm an extreme minority with just selfishly enjoying having the new stuff.

There hasn’t been long queues for a few years at least and I’m in Baltimore DC area. I have been getting a product on launch day as far back as the first Apple Watch and whatever phone was around at that time. Usually show up about an hour early.

The first Apple Watch didn’t have store stock at launch though?

LOL... This is ‘news’? Funny they mention this, but don’t mention that a good number of Xs orders originally slated for September 28 thru October 5 delivery are shipping early.
That was my quoted date range and I got a shipment notification early this morning. I'm hoping that means it'll be early...
