UPDATE: One left Anchorage, one just arrived in Anchorage.... LET'S GOOOOOOO!! .... and still ..... Preparing to ship on Apple's website LMAO.

Yeah mine is still sitting in Korea. I really don't think it's possible to get it by Friday at this point but we'll see.

Both devices have switched back and forth between tentative and not tentative. The phone moved out of China first, but the watch made it to the U.S. first. I'm hopeful that sometime today my phone will hit the U.S. and it will be in Kentucky by this evening. Fingers crossed, but I find it unlikely that it actually is sitting in Korea for more than 24 hours.

Just an observation. I have purchased every iPhone to date since the original back in 2007 and I have never seen models still available for launch day delivery or delivery just a week later once pre orders have gone live. Within an hour shipping estimates usually slip to the 4-6 weeks or longer mark.

If you take the iPhone 6 design that’s been in use for 5 years, since around 2013 -14 then Apple would be experts in that form factor. But the iPhone 6s, 7 and 8 all had shipping times slip to way beyond a week hours after pre orders went live.

I think the XS and the Max have sold well but well under expectations. I think only hardcore Apple followers have purchased it day one and the average consumer will have been put off by the pricing and wait for the XR
[doublepost=1537376008][/doublepost]I think it’s a case of the XS models have sold well but under expectations from Apple.

A lot of people expected a price drop since it’s an S year and component prices should have fallen slightly.

However the Max models prices are extremely high for a phone. In the UK you can get a MacBook for the same money.

I think only the Apple hardcore bought it day one bid the average consumer will have been put off by the price and wait for the XR.

This could be the case but I’ve purchased every iPhone since the original in 2007 and they’ve never made enough to satisfy day one demand. This is the first time in nearly 11 years I’ve seen stock still available for launch day delivery or delivery just one week after launch once pre orders have been live for a few hours or a day.

The number of factors involved that determine the logistics of iPhone availability is not something that any of us armchair quarterbacks can fathom and it definitely can not be explained by your simplistic observation of anecdotal evidence of availability in your particular area. The simple fact is that the one piece of evidence that you are trying to hang your hat on isn't even accurate across the board. For example, I placed my order immediately upon availability and am scheduled to receive mine on 9/21. My friend placed an order for the exact same devices on Sunday, 9/16 and they are scheduled for delivery of their phone on 10/8 and watch on 10/22.

Perhaps the stock levels are different in your country. Again, one of a million logistical factors that go into planning a phone release. However, I just checked here and the estimated delivery date for all carriers (included no carrier), colors, and capacities of the XS and XS Max are 2-3 weeks with no store pickup available. And this is after having a year to get manufacturing up to pace on the new design.

I do think we will see healthy demand for the XR and I actually think that is one of the reasons Apple is waiting a month before shipping it. However, you have not even begun to scratch the surface on providing sufficient evidence for lackluster sales for the XS line.

Finally, your memory of ship dates slipping to 4-6 weeks within an hour of pre-orders beginning, while true for a couple of models and/or colors, is wildly inaccurate to say this is what usually happens.

Anyone with this issue???

Just checked mine when I saw your post and it has been updated to say the same thing.

In addition:

  • At 3:41 a.m. I received two emails from Apple saying that Item to be Shipped and then Item Shipped, with this info: Shipped: Delivers Sep 21, 2018 by Standard Shipping
  • The Apple orders page says Arrives Fri Sep 21 for my watch.
  • The Apple orders page says Arrives Tomorrow for my phone.
  • In Korea at 6:11 p.m. today (6:11 a.m. my time) Your package is in transit. We're updating plans to schedule your delivery.
  • UPS tracking still says Scheduled Delivery: Friday, 09/21/2018 , By End of Day
    • In Korea at 6:13 p.m. today (6:13 a.m. my time) Your package is in transit. We're updating plans to schedule your delivery. / The package will be forwarded to a UPS facility in the destination city.
    • My Apple Delivery was just updated to include the Apple iPhone Upgrade Program Trade-in Kit. That has a scheduled delivery date of Sep 25 – Sep 27.

It is currently 11:25 a.m. my time. My question is, why even send those messages? They do not provide any useful information. Isn't the package in transit and being forwarded to a UPS faculty in the destination city the entire time?

It looks like either they missed the scans or they really messed up our shipment. Let’s see what happens. It really sucks

Yes one of my three said the same while the other two have import scans in KY. WTF
If it not here tomorrow, there better be some type of compensation from apple and not just a free dam case that I want use.

Looks like there are two ups flights inbound from S Korea to Alaska according to flightware.com. Let’s see if we can get a scan by today evening.

I do not speak for all regions of the world but here in the UK iPhone releases have always fallen to 4-6 weeks delivery within an hour of pre orders going live since the iPhone 4.

Maybe the XS models have sold better in your region but here in the UK all networks still have every model (both the XS and XS Max) in every colour and size available for launch day even now a day before the launch. I have not seen this in 10 years of iPhone ownership. Even Apple a day before launch has estimated delivery of just under a week here.

Compared to other regions the UK pricing is astronomical to most people which is likely why they have not sold as quickly here. The XS Max models in 256/512gb cost £1249/£1449 which is $1654 and $1920 respectively when looking at the US prices.

Apple Management team just contacted me and said the watch won’t be here until Monday because of an ‘unexpected delay’

UPS just told me that both of my packages look like they’re within an hour of each other the whole way.

This literally makes no sense. It must be a customs issue maybe?

No offense, but the UK is but one data point and a small one at that. You made a blanket statement that these phones have not sold well, based on very minimal variables.

Even if everything you are saying is 100% correct, it is still not sufficient evidence of slow sales. Just off the top of my head, there are these factors to consider:

  • Apple allocated the wrong proportion of stock to the UK
  • Manufacturing was operating at a much more efficient scale than with previous models. This is their 11th year selling iPhones.
  • This is the second year of selling three models and they aren't all available at the same time. Typically wait times are dispersed because demand all hits at once.
I could go on for a long time, but there are a reasons why Tim Cook was promoted to CEO and was so valued in his previous roll where he was in charge of all of these logistics. Dumbing it down to the fact that some models are available in the UK so the entire line across the world isn't selling well is demeaning to the people who work so hard on these things.

The X sold less than expected and Apple halved production within 6 months of release and they won’t release exact sales figures for that model.

The XS models haven’t dropped in price like people had hoped and the XS Max is even more expensive. This is why sales will not be as good as Apple are hoping everywhere, not just the UK.

Price sensitive markets like China and India won’t see mass adoption of the iPhone XS.

Anyone getting a message saying that the "Scheduled delivery information is not available at this time. Please check back later." ?

That is 100% pure conjecture on your part based on rumors that have long been debunked by the actual facts of the average selling price per iPhone continuing to go up. The only way the ASP can go up is if Apple is selling higher priced phones. Look at Apple's sales figures over the past few years. They are selling the same number or fewer iPhones but making more money selling them. They could not do that if the X wasn't selling well.

Almost home :)

Yes I am with you. After almost two days it reached Alaska and then this, don’t know whom to blame.
Just refreshed the page and it says the same thing but it also says it departed Alaska at 3:29 pm. So I guess there is a chance we get it tomorrow.

Exactly!! Is yours delivering home or to a UPS Store?
