iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and Apple Watch Series 4 Pre-Orders Now Preparing to Ship

They hit the stores on Friday.
They hit the door steps on the same day.
Perhaps a few will slip through for a Thursday deliver.

Waiting for the flight data to be posted.

There are a bunch of crazy nerds here that follow this crap.

I will say I get caught up in it and it makes the whole ordeal exciting

My iPhone still says order in progress for an in store pickup on Friday 9/21. My S4 stainless steel space black is still order in progress and showing 9/28-10/3

I would have loved to do an in store pickup for my S4. But none were available. Going to try and ask day of when I grab my Xs and see.

I’m not sure how Apple slated the aluminum and stainless models this year, but when I pre-ordered my 44 mm stainless Apple Watch, (which was almost immediately after the store went live), I was predicted September 28 through October 5 delivery date. Most aluminum models were already predicting a September 21 delivery date. So for whatever reason, some of the stainless models are shipping later this year, but it doesn’t mean the Apple won’t deliver them sooner, which they have in many instances before.

Maybe, but the Max seems to be selling quicker according to shipping times posted after pre-orders. XS still in plentiful supply. But maybe they simply had more supply of XS. We will see!

I ordered around 4am PST, mine is preparing to ship. Been rocking a 5S for many years so this is going to be a huge change. Silver 64gb XS. Excited!

Btw, is it at all likely it could even show up Thursday? Or are they pretty good about sticking to the estimated delivery date?

It has happened in the past (iPhone 4, 4S days), but Apple has locked down the delivery system pretty well now. That does not say that some could slip through the cracks.

What’s better is that Apple calls the courier and demands that they contact you to return it until Friday. Laughable.

I'm with you to some extent...well all the way for nostalgia. I do like the form factor that iPhone 5 introduced, but for my purposes it is impractical. I read a lot of technical data out in the field, and I consider my iPhone as a desktop replacement to a big extent...so I have had an iPhone 6S Plus, and now an XS Max.

It is going to show it because it isn't "shipping" to you. It'll definitely be available on the date it shows though, especially since we already reserved a certain time slot.

I am predicting that over the next year, the XR will be the best selling model. However, in this initial run we have a couple of factors that could change that. First, the XR is available a full five weeks after the XS models. Second, the early adopters skew heavily toward the top-end phones. Notice the number of people in this thread who ordered the Max. Third, the Max is a more significant change from the X than the XS is. For these reasons, I believe that the XS Max will be the best-selling model through the end of 2018. Over the course of this model year, the XR will be top, with the XS Max coming in second.

Only if you upgrade to the Max. The XS will give the same payments. You have to pay the tax and any carrier charges related to upgrading, but the ensuing monthly payment will be the same.

Store pickup is very fun. We've done it a few times. However, not everyone lives close enough to make that convenient. In our case, we have to drive three hours either north or southeast of our location to get to the closest Apple Store.

Wow! This is going to be a HUGE upgrade for you. It is possible but rare for them to deliver early. Just look at MacRumors in previous years for stories of phones being delivered a day or two early.

I have never heard of Apple doing that. I'm pretty sure that is an urban legend you have heard. It would be all downside for them if they did that.
 
My iPhone Xs Max & Apple Watch S4 changed to preparing to ship on Friday around 2PM, only 6hrs after preorder.
 
My sim free XsMax 64gb space gray and 44mm Space gray aluminum AW with sport loop are preparing to ship.

I have never had a launch day product deliver early but happy to get them Sept 21. My order went through at 3:05am fwiw
