200 bucks more than the galaxy note 9 512GB.
Don't forget you can still expand the memory on the note 9 with microsd! Whereas Apple does not support it.
[doublepost=1536802923][/doublepost]And in Singapore there is a significant markup for the iPhones compared to the exchange rates. That means that a maxed out xs max is about as expensice as a MacBook pro

If Apple maintains these prices next year, I’m moving from a two-year upgrade cycle to a three-year cycle. The upgrades get less and less impressive every year anyway, especially when you consider that Safari and Messages is 95%+ of my iPhone usage.

If I was giving Apple the benefit of the doubt, I'd suggest that they have made the decision to include the potential increased import costs associated with the threatened tariffs by the US government into the current cost of the new devices. Hopefully it'll mean that the prices won't change over the course of the next year if the tariffs come into effect.

On the other hand, perhaps they're just greedy.

Glad it’s an “S” year... at these prices and the larger than normal price drop for the iPhone X resale value, will make me hold on to my X.

But seriously. I’d rather get a much needed laptop for the price. Kinda insane...

If I upgrade to anything it will probably be a Xr 128gb for $799, but i may keep my SE 128gb for another year it does everything that the X would really and has a Headphone jack, we'll see in next month when it comes to preorder time

In Danish price of 2024$ that is a little less than 1/5 of what it cost to purchase a western style studio apartment in Thailand where i am now. I choose to save up little more instead and buy an apartment.

578000 HUF = 2064 USD

Folks the price is the price. If you can afford it buy it If you can’t oh well buy a cheaper model I guess. I am ready to order XS Max 512gb space gray on Friday
Sure it is, like with everything. But I am not buying!

The world is full of richer people, and also there are more and more people, and all these people want to stand out from the crowd. This price point here in Sweden - to me - makes this iPhone more status motivated than any previous model, which for their time were also ludicrously priced according to the masses.

Okay, the maths go together: population expansion + growing spenders = profit. But, there can come a culmination point.

We want technological advancement at a steady price point. Apple has gotten so much cash already, that one cannot motivate the price to stabilise the company and its investments. Not can it be motivated by having to pay for top notch technological new grade tech that needs funding by first adopters.

Me too, I want to stand out of the crowd, but I become more and more critical to what I need, what I want and what the value for money is.
I have a more than average executive income, so it’s not really that I wouldn’t be able to afford it. I don’t want it, and I am an Apple geek and snobb for more than 20 years!!

Or simply both greedy and import rate conscious.

I see no other reason for the upmark atop the exchange rate. Trump... let’s see in some years what he achieved.

Only news this year is the insane prices.
The price reached a level that i would be embarrassed to buy one.
Nicely put! I catch your vibe!
[doublepost=1536821947][/doublepost]
Thats insane, you can get a MacBook for that price.
The iPad Pro to come, will it cost 3000 $ then? I mean, we gotta keep the logic uh...

Oh come on, that's truly repulsive what you've just written. There's also millions of people who can't afford to eat along with 65 million people who are displaced through war or climate change. The world is in such a disgusting mess simply through greed! And Apple is promoting greed more than any other company these days.

The best part is that the 1100 USD extra one spends on the top-end iPhone doesn't really get you a whole lot more phone than a 300-400 device. Incredible diminishing returns.

Do you actually plan your upgrades? I just get a new phone when my old one breaks or no longer cuts it. It is in this way that I still have my 2014 phone which still totally works. We have gotten to a point where the slightly older stuff still does literally everything we really need. Great time to be alive (besides all the actual things wrong in today's world.)

im just going to get the iphone x than xr.. really not much difference.. xr have a bigger screen but display will be lacking, so many colors to choose than iphone x.. now that the iphone x will be cheaper than before.. so im going for iphone x & go to my carrier & purchased it

Who Is Apple targeting in the market? Yes people will buy iPhone xs max but it will be small sales. My prediction Is cheaper iPhone will sale more next 12 months.

This phone is more then double the amount of my mortgage payment each month. And my mortgage payment includes property taxes and mortgage insurance.

This is the first time I really thought Apple is simply pricing me out of their products. These prices don’t make me want a new iPhone, rather they make me justify keeping mine for another year. So I’ll keep my 8+ for another year. Then I’ll think hard about an Android.

It’s certainly within Apple’s right to sell a phone at whatever price they want, just as it is my option to buy it. Apple has teams dedicated to determining their market and demographic targets. That’s just the free market.

However, I am curious to see if they will drop prices next year. Who knows how any tariffs will play out next year and I think the US is headed for a serious recession, which would put a squeeze on consumers.

Also, I don’t think that Apple has penetrated the Chinese market as much as they would like to. Although, the middle class is growing in China I don’t think they are ready to dish out the prices we are willing to pay here in the US.

Yes, as up until I got my 8 last year I was on 2-year contracts, and not buying a new phone when on contract is stupid because the phones were subsidized into the plan pricing. Now 2-year contracts aren’t available anymore, but I still feel that after 3 years there’s going to be a lot of new tech to catch up on.

1499? What is wrong with people? A constant lust for something others don't have - until they all do, only to become outdated quickly and replaced a year later by another thing others don't have - until they do...

Olympic rat race, people... be poor, forever!
can we stop pretending that a majority of people upgrade every year? I'm one of the richest men in the world (screw you Bezos) and I'm upgrading from the 6+ I've been carrying for 4 years.

Lol. Thanks for making me laugh. I love Apple. And I know smartphones have become most people’s main computing device these days, but the prices are really getting crazy.
[doublepost=1536850707][/doublepost]
Pretty much this. Consumers have spoken with their wallets and given Apple the thumbs up to keep hiking prices. Part of me wants to just hang on to my 8 Plus as long as possible now..

I think Apple should pay attention to people like you. If Apple keeps raising their prices every year more and more people will start treating their iPhones like they do iPads or laptops. They will hold onto them for a few years instead of upgrading every year. Yes, iPhones were always expensive, but when new ones came out, Apple added new features, but pretty much kept them at the same price. Now they are increasing the prices every year for the added features. Sure some people will keep paying, but Eventually, this strategy is doomed to backfire.

They literally said in the keynote that they want people to be able to use their phones longer.
