The rear fingerprint sensor is reason enough to say no. That would drive me up a wall. Why bother with a Face ID if it is not secure enough to be the secure unlock for the device. And it will be interesting to see battery life. The 3rd camera and a fingerprint sensor must consume more internal Real estate. So I would think the battery might be a little smaller. But just a guess. I’ll also take steel over aluminum for bend resistance.

This phone looks nice. If I didn't have an Apple Watch, I'd seriously go for an Android to give it a try, since the XS/XS Max are a little too expensive now.
This is exactly my situation too! My apple watch seems like a handcuff... Don't get me wrong. It is not that I don't like iPhone XS, but its price is way too high. And when compared to technology and function.. it is even wayyyyy to high.

You are a little too biased. For one, Android phones (at least the higher end flagship phones) are not ‘crappy’. Second, I recommend reading this regarding your privacy and Apple and Google. https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech...er-download-your-privacy-data-year/521786002/

Third, getting hacked by apps. Sure, if you go to certain unsavory apps (like those that promise cheats to games) you can get hacked or have your phone screwed up. But let me remind you that Apple has had lots of issues ranging from getting its developer portal hacked to people being able to send you a text and screw up your phone.

All that said, I wouldn’t trade in my iPhone X for an Android device. I just don’t believe in spreading Apple propaganda.

Not biased, owned a Samsung for years. Android phones are brown toilet matter compared to Apple.

Spin much Macrumors? How about this:

"Because of the weaker facial recognition implementation, LG's new device continues to offer customers the choice of using a fingerprint sensor on the back for authentication."

Of course, we'd never want to admit Apple was doing something negative by taking away TouchID and making folks choose between FaceID a numeric unlock code.

has a slightly big chin - is that because they can't do the folding screen due to Apple patents? I think I still like the overall look of the screen going all the way to the top in the 'ears' and find the notch a reasonable compromise to allow that. Plus with android you have the option in the OS to make the top bar black to hide the notch if you really hate it

according to steve, thats all you DONT need to know, hey but YOU know it better, nah?
[doublepost=1538631690][/doublepost]

and YOU know what succeeds? they chinese guys havent even started - they are just playing ...
who owns land rover again - maybe you might be able to tell me
Tata owns Land Rover. And Jaguar.
Tata is from India.

Supreme power efficiency coupled with computing power that is literally years ahead of anything Android has to offer. Some things you don’t really notice, like the system detecting faces in photos and grouping photos of the same person together for you automatically. Other things you do, like when you play games with desktop level graphics.

Wow!
So with all that power in such a tiny little device, Apple still can't implement real multitasking? How about 3rd party apps downloading files in the background? Still can't do it? How about some simple stuff, like home screen customization, or is iOS still stuck on grid of apps on the home screen?

How about some more simple stuff, like adjusting the height of the keyboard? Or easy automation for your device?

Well, call me crazy, but I really don't miss dumbification of iOS. At all :p

Can makers stop it with the notch.

I'm not touching a phone with one and since every company has to copy one of the worse design elements, most flagship phones are out. (aside from the galaxy line)

Ah, the Beta Max comparison, someone really doesn't understand their technology history, and is just relying on frankly wrong statements. VHS tapes lasted a long longer than Betamax tapes when they came out which meant you could get a whole movie on one tape rather than on 2 tapes. VHS was also cheaper than BetaMax. Whether you prefer the advantages of BetaMax over VHS is a matter of taste, but the notion that BetaMax was clearly superior to VHS is frankly wrong though I can see why some like to cling to that myth.
hate
As for the notch being awful, given how many companies have embraced it, the people who unequivocally hate the notch appear to be the people who are out of step.

I lived through BetaMax. We even had one briefly. Did you? Yes, VHS had length advantages, but the quality difference was night and day.

Anyway, you spent your whole time arguing about a single example that didn’t even matter rather than really addressing the core underlying point. But here’s another one for you: that QWERTY keyboard you’re typing on. I could go on...

The truth of the matter is that psychology is a hell of a drug. People will convince themselves of lots of things as long as it doesn’t make them have to re-evaluate a core belief. It’s much easier to declare “I’m cool with the notch” than “I’ve been an Apple defender my whole life, but I’m finally ready to update my belief about the company.” It’s cognitive dissonance 101.

If Samsung had introduced a notch first on their flagship product, the derision on these forums would have reached a fever pitch.

I remember not too long ago on here how many people swore they didn’t want a “giant phone.” And hey, here in 2018, look at most of the TV marketing for the current iPhone product lineup. The now discontinued small iPhone SE? “No one wants that,” people claim.

There’s a reason there’s a popular web site called “Cult of Mac”....

I'm not sure why people continue to tout so called iPhone competitors. The truth is there is nothing out there that can complete remotely with any iPhone in the lineup.
Samsung Galaxy is the #1 competitor to iPhone lineup

I never liked Galaxy, iPhone all the way here, but can't deny that many of my friends who switched went to Galaxy

More competition is just better for us.

I wish apple could do a better integration of their iPhones to the Mac. Sometimes it seams they are completely different companies.

Why it is not possible to use parts of the iPhones memory to copy files from one mac to another in a secure way ?
Why is is so difficult to delete / modify old phone numbers on all connected iPhones / Macs / iPads at the same time after getting the offer to make a snapshot of all the contacts before doing so ?

... Sometimes it looks like the only professionals are in Apple's sales department.

So yes we need competition, lesser sales - the only language they understand.

I've played with some newer Android phones and as soon as all the background BS and animations are turned off they're just as fluid and fast as iPhones.
can you actually turn off the advertisements? I was horrified to see adverts in one of my cousins google map that day. i didnt even know it was like this. Or did he have some junk installed in his phone? i think he uses an S8.

The LG what? lol Sorry guys but all these "android" phones from anyone not Google aren't the real thing. It's like buying a windows computer back in the day filled with bloatware, crapware, you name it. I do understand samsung makes great hardware and knows how to advertise and manipulate the clueless which can make this somewhat tolerable but it's still a bloatware special.

There is one redeeming quality for the LG - it shows you the battery percentage!

Yes - hear that Apple, people really care and want to see the battery percentage and not have to swipe for it. Hopefully Apple finds a way to make it work with the notch.

If Samsung had introduced a notch first on their flagship product, the derision on these forums would have reached a fever pitch.

This statement alone is the most truthful statement ever made.
I too can just imagine how people here would have ripped Samsung apart for putting a notch into the visible area of the screen if Apple had not done it.

Myself I'm ok with the notches as I know they will get smaller and are just a temporary bodge till tech improves and even people here will look back at Apple's notch and laugh in years to come.

It seems Samsung is the only phone not trying to copy the iPhone design these days. Been switching between galaxy and iPhone for years now, both great phones. Currently have a Xs.

The anger of the Apple lovers here is just hilarious. Seriously, who cares what they copy? Everyone copies everyone. Good grief.

Also I can see the writing on the wall now.

2018: 3 rear cameras? No one needs that! That’s absurd! What a gimmick!

2019: (Same people) The iPhone 11 is the BEST PHONE EVER! Those 3 rear cameras are amazing and produce the best photos I’ve ever seen! Apple rules!

Sadly, it's really all about the little apple logo.

Phones all do the same thing these days. Any difference in how it does it is.

It's never been more evident as it is, now, with the release of the new line of apple phones. Read your forums. People are switching out the Meg for the X and the R and the S like flavors of Jolly Ranchers because there really isn't a difference.

Wide angle photos look soooo good. Can't wait for Apple's trio cameras, as I'm not assuming it'll be a wide angle lens, even if it has worse low light capabilities.

In all seriousness, what useful or fascinating things can I do with Apple's A12 chip that I can't with others? I'm switching to an Android phone (most likely the Pixel). What will I be sacrificing?
Nothing, I switched to a Pixel a couple years ago and haven't looked back once. I don't know why I didn't switch to Android sooner.

LG phones all suck. Samsung is the only one that can make a quality phone.

Well. I will say I have an LG thinQ TV, very good sound, but worse picture than a Samsung. Biggest complaint about LG, I've never had one last more than 2-years, craps out just outside of warranty, and LG won't fix it, even if it is a common problem. so - buy at your own risk, and don't forget to get an extended warranty!

I’ve had my LG TV for almost 6 years and Best Buy had to service it once and did a great job. I also had an LG refrigerator that I just replaced after 17 years (it still worked, just needed a bigger fridge), and my LG washing machine is going on 5 years now too. I do recommend the extended warranty though on any high-priced products.
