Unless you are an X owner? Until 2 weeks ago, basically the supposed best smartphone to have ever existed...certainly one of the most expensive?
I have an X and i get in my home ~100 to 120 Mbps LTE any day. Do I have to provide like a screenshot or screen recording?

God, I really wish Apple’s pricing was a bit more reasonable. With the profit margin on the internals I feel like I’m paying half my price ($1500+) just for the OS.

Well, if you bought a $1500 iPhone, then you are part of the problem. Apple will only adjust their pricing when consumers stop lining up around the block to buy a new phone, even the highest price models, even if they complain about the price while standing in line. I can't blame Apple for taking advantage of their customers at this point.

Consumers can vote with their wallets, or in this case with their credit limits. Until people stop buying iPhones at any price regardless if they need to upgrade or not, then there is no point for Apple will bring better value to their brand.

Does the Note's larger size mean larger antenna in the frame and that is something that iPhone form factor just won't be able to overcome?

In any case, this only becomes meaningful at the tail end when the signal is weak.

It isn't that bad. But yes you are paying for the OS. But think about it this way, you are going to get an OS refresh 3, 4, and 5 years from now. Galaxy owners aren't going to get that if past behavior is any indication. Security updates won't be as fast either. And more significantly might end all together well before the phone is on its last legs.

Irrelevant if your swapping you’re phone every 1-2 years.....

Both the Intel and Qualcomm versions of the X can reach 600Mbps (under the right conditions).
Technically the Qualcomm version can reach gigabit speeds, but Apple capped the speed in the firmware on the Qualcomm version to match the Intel version.

in the world of data, those graph plots are about as statistically insignificant as it gets. They are all so much faster, than say the streaming speed of HD video, that the user will see nothing. and teens sending their "snapchat" images will never know or care. The time difference of which ever phone is faster hardware-wise on opening the page, or app will be the difference maker if you were to measure it with a stopwatch. I'ld like to see the phones compared on launching the youtube App and see which one starts playing first. That would combine all aspects of software, hardware and data speeds. I am sure that performance is probably equally imperceptible.

Lol to all the people who defended that horrible intel radio in the 8/X... I dropped NEXT so I could get a sim free 8+ last year. The intel radio on the att carrier locked 8 was a serious POC

At least the latest gen radio is decent compared to the competition...

That’s why I purchased the X at Bestbuy Mobile on Next last year. Going through Best Buy you got the Qualcomm modem instead of Intel, which was leaps and bounds better.

I call BS on this. I have used an iPhone X (Qualcomm) side-by-side with an iPhone Xs. In my area the iPhone Xs struggles to get even close to the performance of the iPhone X on Verizon with 4-5 bars. Hopefully it is a software issue. If not I am returning this phone.

Their test is in a lab in perfection conditions. Obviously this varies in the real world. This shows us that the radio is fine but likely needs software tweaks. And there's also an issue with the new antenna design but software patches should mitigate at least some of that.

WHAT are you talking about? "Try harder"... seriously? Do you really view the latest iPhones as lacklustre products? What more do you want that's possible with modem technology?

This viewpoint that somehow Apple is barely making any effort is completely misaligned with reality. People that see the world through that lens have zero appreciation for (or clue of) just how complex today's smartphones are. Apple is achieving a level of finished product unmatched by the completion when *all* factors are considered.
Re-read my post and realise how off your comment is. If you can't see it, let me know and I will explain it to you.
Ok?

Look back on the weak LTE signal graph again. Notice how the iphone X just completely goes to zero which means failure to connect while the qualcomm equipped phones are still able to transmit LTE speeds.

When I was test driving the 8+ Intel vs Qualcomm last year, the Intel one would frequently drop LTE and go in to 4G whilst the Qualcomm held LTE and ran much faster to boot. I live in an area that always has spotty cell coverage. If you're in an urban environment with good cell towers you would never notice the difference

It's not just snapchat users that will notice the difference.

I got 5Mb with 5 bars of LTE with the XS Max in the bay the other day on Verizon.

Average 3Mb with 4 bars of LTE in a more rural area, and 7Mb with 5 bars in an extremely rural area.
Friends who have t-mobile always have lower bars but much faster service.

I would happy if Verizon could just give me the 20Mb average again I use to see with the iPhone 5 before they let the network go to crap. 5 bars means nothing if its completely clogged.

Setting- Accessibility- Reduce motion
You can get rid of Apple's time consuming animations, and it just looks better.
:)

I've had completely opposite experiences. I travel frequently to the bay area, I had T-mo while my co-worker had VZW. While we were in the car, near the Golden Gate Bridge, my phone couldn't even load a website with the FULL signal bar while my co-worker was watching Youtube with only 2 bars. It seemed T-mo lacks the bandwidth. What a waste of good signal.

The bars don't mean much. Each manufacturer sets them to whatever they want them to be. You have to dive in to the service menu and look at signal strength.

The X iOS 11 vs iOS 12 results are quite interesting.

iOS 12 actually improved things for strong signals; however, for weak signals, things got worse.

If it is possible to merge the iOS 12 strong signal code with the iOS 11 weak signal code, then folks I think would be very happy.

Which never happens in real field conditions, so what is the problem again? When the network effectively puts a very hard cap on what the modem can achieve under real world conditions. Makes no difference what modem you have when most networks can't even handle 100 Mbps consistently and in a big area.

Absolutely! Even otherwise, Android OS upgrade is not necessary for Samsung flagships. Most of the advanced features first gets implemented in TouchWiz before Android AOSP adopts as its foundation. Frequent base OS upgrades destabilize any Android mobile, especially those serving multiple markets, multiple service providers across the globe in huge volume.

I have Note 8 & I used to have Note 5; security updates are good for two years max but after one year they don't release patches frequently but thankfully, not ruining the already fantastic experience in the name of upgrades.

After two or two-and-half years your mobile gets outdated from the hardware point of view.

If you have paid excessively, you would probably lose heavily as I did with my iPhone 6 Plus as I could resell the 128 GB which was purchased for around $1200 but after 3 years it fetched < $200.

Close enough now at least. Prior generations of Intel modems were awful, my 7 would disconnect in crowds and not bother to try to reconnect until I restarted it a few times.

what? iOS 12 animations are super fast. I can find things much faster then a lot of my friends with their android phones.

iOS 12 animations are still slower on my iPhone 8 than my Note 9. And if they aren't, I can turn them off. And no, reduced motion isn't the same thing.

The Exynos version of Samsung's phones use Samsung's own modem.
Samsung even developed a 5G modem.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure they're testing the Snapdragon version and not the Exynos one.

And the fact that every Android update touts battery improvements means nothing to you? Because I want Android Pie ASAP on mine for the improvements.

You do realise that looking at something and liking what you see is a preference. That is not emperical evidence. There is nothing wrong with having a preference. Many people prefer the unnatural look of a whole variety of screens. That is absolutely normal and fine. It doesn’t mean it is measurable better though. That is a huge distinction.
[doublepost=1538486898][/doublepost]
Pardon thé expression but God Help is when YouTube opinion pieces become empirical evidence. Next time let’s not study science, let’s not get a thesis reviewed and confirmed by peers, all it requires is a few likes on YouTube ;)

No, no give it a chance....it’s because of HTC.

I’m just kidding. I believe it was humor based, his reasons were comical to say the least.

Anybody care to list them?

The only website is claiming it has a better screen is those displaymate people. Every YouTuber and other reviewers, have debunk that nonsense review, and the facts are not confused, I'm looking at both phones right now, I use both everyday.

Sure it is.
The same website and review that every note owner were touting as the gospel a couple of weeks ago, I wonder what changed. Hmmm....
