iPhone5 to be released as early as January

I honestly think Apple plans on using the overall design of the iP4 for two years much like they used the 3G design for two years. I can see not an iP5 but a iPhone 4S being released next year with a new antenna placement and smaller upgrades much like the 3GS was to the the 3G. Apple considers the iP4 to be a complete overhaul of the iPhone line and the biggest change since the iPhone was introduced. I mean they do use the line "This changes everything. Again." Referring to the orignal iPhone as a game changer and the iP4 as being in the same league. Also iPhones are flying off the shelf and the white iPhone has not been released yet. What is Apple going to do? Release the white iPhone and then release the iP5 two months later?

Like I said in the other thread I could be wrong but I just don't see it happening as long as sales are strong.
 
I think its certainly possible to likely that we will see a new iphone in jan. Might be that we add verizon. (not sure on that part) However, they can release whatever they want when they want. Who cares about there release schedule in the past. I love the iphone, but this one has been there worse one they have produced. Lets face it!

According to who? Did you poll iP4 owners or is this your own personal opinion. Just looking at sales alone I would say this iPhone has been pretty successful so far.
 
Your right, sales has been very very good. Its MOSTLY my opinion, but lets be honest, if you have a product that SOME people are going to have prollems with and you KNOW that to be the case thats not cool...IMO! But, I think overall its a great phone, but I would be pissed if I had one that has reception problems and they knew that it was certainly possible. I know that can happen on any smartphone, BUT why change the design if there were NO problems like that with 3g and 3gs...Thats my whole point I guess.
 
Apple is bleeding market share to Android, so this is going to be a Verizon phone. It makes no sense to release on T-Mobile or Sprint, as these carriers are minor players compared to AT&T and Verizon. Once the iPhone releases on Verizon, you will see market share jump through the roof. Many Android customers will also switch to iPhone on Verizon. The only reason they are buying Android on Verizon is because there is no iPhone on that network.

Apple has an ace up its sleeve.
 
I honestly expect announcement for a June release date, Apple is now on reconsideration stage about what would they with the current situation, it doesn't make sense for Apple to release an iPhone on January when they truly are very established on each of their products' hardware, update release dates (iPod September, iPhone June, Software/Mac OS January, iOS/iPad March). The least I would expect is that Apple ends AT&T exclusiveness and move on towards other carriers and make the announcement on Macworld 2011, hell, what can they lose, jailbreaking is now legal, why not make the move and join other carriers.

I also don't see an iPhone 5, I am more inclined to spec bumps with the LTE 4G network.
 
Apple will have to refresh their phones more often now that they're not the only game in town anymore, and coming out with new, better products more often will not "open them up to litigation." Apple doesn't owe you their latest product just because you bought the old one. You had every chance to return your 4 for free if you didn't like it. If you chose to keep it, now it's yours to deal with, even if a new one comes out in January.
 
I hope a new one comes out in January just to change things up. But I'll also be mad that I won't have the newest one since I just got the 4, but I'll get over it.
 
I really doubt a new iPhone will be out in January. A iPhone 4 for vzn? Maybe.

Anyone else notice that whocaresit has yet to grace us with his opinion on this matter? Perhaps the mods finally listened to our complaints and banned him.
 
The title should be "iPhone5 to be released as early as January" This is an unsubstantiated rumour. Apple may well be gearing up to release a CDMA phone but I doubt Steve Jobs would ever tacitly admit to a design flaw that is more like a design compromise and one that is resulting in 85% highly/very satisfied responses from owners.

I Guess the unicorns will be arriving in January then :D There will be no iPhone in January because this would mean apple would have to hold 2 Keynotes a year and the moscone center doesn't have anything booked referring to a keynote strictly for apple.

And someone mentioned macworld? When it comes to an iPhone announcement they aren't just going to borrow space at macworld to discuss this. They want the whole Event to be about iPhone. So it makes no sense as to why they would announce it during macworld.

If a Verizon iPhone is announced it will be done so by Steve and no the CEO of verizon and it won't be at CES it will in june. I don't trust the blog of some pimply face dungeons and dragon dude made in his mothers wooden paneled basement. No unicorns for me.
 
hmmm my contract with VZW is up in november... hopefully by that time there will be more info regarding this rumor, or the rumor that VZW is going to get an iphone at all!

otherwise, come november.... ATT here i come!
 
I don't see Apple switching from their yearly release unless they're coming out with a 2nd device called the iSomething or other.

Apple only has one hardware platform and one OS. Android has multiple hardware platforms so new devices can come out sooner.

I don't see the average person switching their phone every 6 months to get an iPhone especially those in contract. Also releasing yearly builds the anticipation sort of like Christmas morning.

Apple want's the antenna gate to go away. Releasing a new phone so soon will bring that back to the forefront and people will cry foul and whine to the point that Apple would have to do something like they did with the early iPhone adopters when they dropped the price. The last thing Apple wants to do is take a hit on stocks.

From a PR move and Jobs being Jobs I see them staying with the current design for the iPhone4s(5) and then the next model will have some magical new innovation design about the antenna.
 
Possible, but unlikely. i4's are selling at an incredible rate, and will continue to do for the upcoming months. There is simply no need for an upgrade as early as Jan '11.
 
It makes sense if:
it isn't iPhone 5, but iPhone 4 LTE variant as the new flagship device on VZW's new 4g network. VZW CEO keynote at CES could be the place to announce it. Or to announce their first 4G Android phone w/ 1.5ghz processor:)
 
I highly doubt there will be an iPhone 5 for AT&T in January. A Verzion iPhone 4 LTE is more likely IMO, Verzion is getting this phone eventually!
