And you're also trying to sound smart, but you're omitting the fact that they were already trending upwards and exceeded their previous high before Trump took office, and proceeded to go up after he took office for roughly 1 month, and then came back down.

I may not be smart, but I know B.S. when I hear it. Prices were all over the place since the summer. But when were they at their absolute highest? 2 months after Trump took office. Trump PROMISED lower egg prices on day 1. He lied. And 4 months later, they are still high. And you may say "oh come one, no one believed it could happen day 1". Then why promise it? So when Trump tells me this is just a little pain, for long time gain, when most economists disagree, why should I trust trump now? Trump only knows how to be a bully out of insecurity, and bullies often do really stupid things to keep the act up. Regardless of how this pans out, Trump being a bully has cost USA any claim to integrity and screwed over all its relationships except with Russia. The USA is the only country to drop an Atomic bomb in war, can you imagine how long and hard USA worked with true values to get most of the world to trust them again? And then we give them Trump. It's easy to blow things up. Or break eggs.

And what’s the issue? The selling price is the price. You decide to buy it or not.
There's no issue, the person I replied to said Tim wouldn't raise prices due to tariffs and I gave an example where he did raise prices for the vision pro to keep their margins high.

Egg prices are down. You just hate Trump.

A 2025 Civiv Hybrid Touring Hatchback Super duper blue. $34k.
Not bad. I was thinking it was going to be a lot more expensive. Last year i was looking into an F-150, and the prices were astronomical. And I am a long-time F-150 buyer. I was left looking at the Maverick

Yeah, here in South Florida they have never really gone up or down much over the last couple of years.

Additionally, Apple stock might tumble a bit more, so hold off on purchasing. At some point, both sides will reach a trade deal and the stock will skyrocket. Only if you have liquidity does it matter though.
Of course there will be a deal. This article is just another opportunity for far left global socialists’journlissts’ to take a dig at Trump.

As if any leftist gives a crap about America……..

Officials in the Biden administration killed millions of healthy birds over fear of “bird flu.”

Turns out chickens take a little time to grow.

But eggs and food prices have gone down near me. YMMV.

America is the consumer nation! Don't you get it? These people will eventually cave or their economies will turn to rubble.
How do they cave? These are not reciprocal tariffs as claimed. In almost all cases it is nothing to do with taxes set by other countries. The clearest example is Australia having a free trade agreement with 0% tariffs either way. Trump has now imposed a 10% tariff on Australia, breaking that legal agreement.

The tariffs are based on trade defecits, not import taxes. This is based on people and companies in America buying more from a country than the people and companies from that country buying American stuff. And it only covers goods, not all imports/exports. It convieniently excludes services, the one area where America does well. Cars is the best example of why there is an imbalance. American cars are too big and too inefficient for most markets. Food is another example. American food standards are too low in multiple areas for the laws of many other countries, limiting what food and goods can be exported.

The economy most likely to crumble is USA.

can't we bring back jobs that people actually want to do? I assure you no one wants to work 80 hours a week assembling phones and even if they did there aren't enough people to do the work in the USA and legally immigrating is nearly impossible for low skill workers and even for others as well
Oh no! We must protect the consumerist utopia!

Do you people ever think about end results? Or can you only comprehend what’s right in front of you?

…and if you want low standard food at affordable prices, someone else can provide it cheaper than the U.S. (e.g. Brazil and Argentina for meat). Tariffs or not.

I think VW has the best approach - add a tariff surcharge line to the price. Perhaps all businesses should consider it. Consider when companies, and using Apple as an example, raises the price of an iPhone from $999 to $1499 all blame and finger pointing goes to Apple. However, if Apple itemizes $999 for phone and $500 tariff surcharge for a total of $1499 sell price, the transparency is front and center for everyone - in their face - of what caused the price increase.
This is a great idea. Keep the prices the same just add the tariff as a tax line item on checkout. That'd be the same way state and local taxes are done.

Nobody raised any price. The selling price was $3500. It’s not relevant what the BOM cost is. You buy for the retail price or not.

I mean with the new tariffs we will need to finance every purchase so lower interest rates would help. :p

Great observation! Most people can't pay the cost of $2300 iPhone upfront which could also mean more debt and more profit for banks and credit card companies!

The iPhone 16 base model is estimated to have a manufacturing cost of $416. It costs $799. In 2023 there were no tariffs on iPhone imports because smartphones were exempted from tariffs coming from countries with Most Favored Nation status. So, Apple is marking up the base price 92%. If smartphones are no longer exempt, then that $416 becomes $641. [IOW, Apple has to invest an additional $225 per phone brought into the country.] If Apple wants to maintain its margins (which I assure you it will try like hell to do), then the base phone model has to go to $1230.
There will be some increase and someone has to pay it.

But how this plays out comes down to the exact dollar amount that Apple has to add to each product:

On the bright side, Trump seems to most of all just want everyone to talk about him, and loves changing his mind. He loves doing big, pompous events and glamorous parties, where he gets to do big, important speeches that the whole World has to pay close attention to.

So maybe he'll change his mind by tomorrow or in a week, or postpone the whole thing for two weeks, or a month, or never, or whatever idea he moves on to next.

Sucks.

But.. he's also quite old and has an impressive hip to waist ratio. Maybe those things could fix the whole thing for us?

But then we'd just get Vance, wouldn't we? 😑

It is funny the same group crying about the minimum wage being too low and it should be raised are the ones who are okay with apple and other companies using slave labor to produce the device in their hands... Also, apple isn't going to charge $2,000+ for their devices (at least not until they have a fold model).

And it hasn't taken them long to show up...
