And if you had some geographical knowledge you would understand why it wouldn't work for Norfolk Island. It doesn't have a proper port. They have to use old whaleboats to get close enough to a jetty if the wind is favourable enough.

And that's completely unchangeable of course. No one has ever built a port when trillions are at stake. Unthinkable!

To the people to blinkered to see the truth here just look at the state of Apple shares? It’s not looking good. Why are so many people here denying what the stock markets show. A quote here shows the following

“‘Apple has experienced a significant decline in its market value following the announcement of President Trump’s new tariffs. On April 3, 2025, Apple’s shares dropped by approximately 9%, resulting in a market capitalization loss of over $300 billion. This decline reduced the company’s valuation from around $3.36 trillion to approximately $3.05 trillion. The tariffs, particularly the 54% rate on Chinese imports, have raised concerns about increased production costs for Apple, given its reliance on Chinese manufacturing. Analysts warn that these tariffs could necessitate a 30% increase in U.S. hardware prices to offset costs, potentially impacting consumer demand and profit margins.”

Apple were vulnerable because all the countries they source and make products in have been hit with these ludicrous tariffs. It’s a real shame to see Apple shares loose so much right now.

So, you'd happily have purchased one of Hitlers paintings when he was in power, if you'd have liked the art?

The Hitler comparison is tired and worn out. You can hate Trump and Musk and whoever you want all day long, but this is not the next Nazi party and Musk/Trump are not the next Hitler. That's an absurd argument. They'll be gone in a few years.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced that steep tariffs will be applied to imports from many countries, starting April 9. The tariffs could have a significant impact on Apple, as the company assembles the majority of iPhones in China, and products imported to the U.S. from China will be subject to a 54% tariff.

iPhone prices could increase by up to 43% in the U.S. due to the tariffs, according to analysts at equity research firm Rosenblatt Securities (via Reuters).

Based on that prediction, the top-of-the-line iPhone 16 Pro Max model with 1TB of storage could rise from $1,599 to nearly $2,300 in the U.S., should Apple actually follow through with raising prices by 43% to offset the cost of tariffs.

At the other end of the iPhone lineup, the most affordable iPhone 16e model would increase from $599 to just over $850 with a 43% price increase.

An iPhone 16 Pro with 256GB of storage could rise from $999 to more than $1,400.

Apple would need to raise its prices by at least 30% on average, in order to offset the tariffs, according to Counterpoint Research's Neil Shah.

Apple has yet to publicly comment on the tariffs, so it is unclear if the company will actually raise prices, or if it will get creative and find alternative ways to offset the impact. It is also unclear if iPhone 16 models would increase in price, or if Apple would simply set higher prices on iPhone 17 models from the get-go later this year.

Apple's stock price is down nearly 15% since Trump announced the planned tariffs.

I'm sorry but moron said something this stupid? Apple would never price an iPhone this high because no one would pay it, and Tim Cook isn't as insane or braindead as this "analyst," apparently.
research firm Omdia estimated the bill of materials for the vision pro to be $1542 but Tim set the price to $3500.

Do Americans realise countries around the globe have had enough of them?

There is a real anti-American sentiment at the moment.
The person who gave a disagreement thumbs down to this statement has his head in the sand. The sooner he faces reality the better. The sentiment has been there to a degree for a long time but it is now exploding.

Not sure if it was mentioned anywhere, if so please correct me. But, shouldn't the tariffs affect the OEM costs/prices and NOT the MSRP prices? So if making an iPhone costs $200, but Apple Sells it for $800. Then the 50% or so tariff should affect the $200 price. So it's $300 now. And not the $800 price, turning it into $1200.

Yes, you're right.

Foxconn produces the iPhone and sells it to Apple. Doesn't really matter if Foxconn sells to Apple International or Apple US. The tariff will be on the price sold by Foxconn + maybe transport cost.

This arrangement with Foxconn selling the iPhone has been in place for quite a few years since some patents (Qualcomm) is based on the percentage of a product's value.

I do think though that the price Foxconn sells the iPhone for is more in the $300 to $500 range. Maybe even more fore some of the most expensive model.

It all just depends where you are.

Where I'm at, the eggs have been expensive all along and it hasn't really gone up or down much.
I’m sorry I don’t want to sound rude but maybe don’t buy eggs? Lol why is this such a big issue buy something else eggs aren’t the only food on this planet rounded called earth…

Because I eat them every day?

I wasn't complaining about the price.
I was simply commenting that the prices near me haven't moved around much.

228,000 jobs added to the US in March! Doubling the prediction. Companies should be investing even more on infrastructure and hiring at this point.

Does this analyst not understand how tariffs work?

These calculations are unhinged.

Tariffs aren’t assessed based on MSRP. They’re based on the stated value at the port. Apple can state their cost on import paperwork ($485 based on their public gross margin numbers) meaning a $261 tariff (existing 20% plus the new 34%).

Unlike car parts, iPhone parts don’t cross borders multiple times.

Prices WILL go up, but man, these analysts need to show their work.

I would find it VERY hard to believe that Apple wouldn't figure something out by September. They may be greedy but not stupid. There's no way anyone paying that much for a phone that hasn't had major improvements in years.

It is unclear how this will be enforced. Obviously, the government can punish them if they try too aggressively to manipulate their valuation at the port.

Everyone can’t suddenly say everything is worth $1, for instance.

And an analyst also can’t guess what number Apple could use accurately. So they are right to use MSRP. Overestimating the impact is better than underestimating it in this case.

can't we bring back jobs that people actually want to do? I assure you no one wants to work 80 hours a week assembling phones and even if they did there aren't enough people to do the work in the USA and legally immigrating is nearly impossible for low skill workers and even for others as well

Don't worry. Those manufacturing jobs that people don't want to do are not going to come back to the US. Sure, we will get factories, but they will be almost entirely automated. The few unskilled and semi-skilled jobs that are produced will go to minimum wage and lower undocumented workers.

Look, even China is replacing people with robots in factories. Cheap labor may be great for business, but cheaper machines with higher yield and none of that "I need to eat and sleep" whining is better.

The idea that the US will return to some sort of late 18th-century industrial nation is absurd.
