It's very cool at first, but you can see they just used a wipe with jagged edges for the transitions.

I wonder if we'll ever see a silhouette ad again. I haven't been to San Francisco (where every billboard has one on it), so I don't know.

We did not use jagged edges for the transitions and they are NOT just wipes. Technically its not an edit its one long VFX shot.

Doesn't really look fake to me. I guess it took a long time to plan and edit though- Kudos anyway, It's gonna be sold out in no time :-I

That was an awesome ad vfxer. I noticed a fair bit of rotoscoping and warping of the outgoing clothes to match incoming body types. Any greenscreen work done for some of the shots that involve the earbud cables?

The like the music in this ad much more than the nano ad.

Even though details are being reasonably withheld, I just think it is cool the person who made (helped) the ad is posting to macrumors.

I saw it on Studio 60 (west coast feed) after the reports on the east coast. Gees, that show has a lot of Apple product placement.

Good job, sir.

What can you do with Arn? 🙂

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe any of Apple's iPod commercials (with the exception of the original shuffle ad) featured the silhouettes. Those ads were the "iPod + iTunes" campaign. Apple may be moving away from the silhouette ads, but this is no proof.

I do like this ad; it has an original feel to it.

I wonder if this was a Michel Gondry ad. It sure looked like one.

Here's a Michel Gondry ad for Gap.

To my eyes, this definitely looks like Michel Gondry's style. I hope it is! Either way, it's an awesome ad that will definitely catch people's attention.

EDIT: Just noticed Randy Little's post. Sorry about that! I should have read everything I guess.

Yeah the editing was really cool... although at the start it doesn't look like the iPod is actually on the person, it looks superimposed on afterwards, maybe it's been touched-up...
,

Not to me it didn't, but discovered something even more cool in the process. Am on my Macbook, two finger scrolling away, and realised that the Quicktime movie which i had paused, ALSO scrolls in slow-mo with two finger scrolling.

Cool, or what?

It Would Be Cool If They Had Tied It Back to the Familiar

I think the last person should have taken their top off to reveal a silhouette wearing a shuffle tied to its collar. That would have been a cool way to tie it back to the old ads everybody knows while keeping the rest fresh and new.
