This is what I sent to apple, I think I got my point across.

Hello,

I am a loyal apple customer. I love apple and I was very pleased with Apple, until this morning. I just payed over $3600 for a brand new MacBook Pro, iPod Touch, etc. I go on to get the new firmware this morning, and like 1000s of other apple customers, I am met with a sign saying it's not available. Now, I know that this happens occasionally, but for a whole day? This is ridiculous. I am being a loyal customer and not taking the cheap way out by downloading the torrent, which would be free. Is this fair, NO! I would like to see myself and everyone else compensated for this disaster. I always recommend Mac products to everyone I do business with, but with a failure like this, I will think otherwise.

Thank You,

Chad Brommer

Yeah, let's hope it is happier. By the way, it's been July 12th in Australia for ages and still nothing :( Anyone know what the Universal Internet Time is right now?

In my 8+ years of being an Apple customer I have never seen such a day of failures for Apple. Inability to activate new iPhones, MobileMe still says "The MobileMe transition is underway but is taking longer than expected." and all this difficulty allowing people to download the v2 software.

Does anyone whose Apple history goes back further than mine recall a more poorly executed day?

It would have been more professional, and proper if you had just waited maybe one more day. Then your letter would be more just. But for now, that letter seems to me to be unneeded. I'm not trying to argue or insult you, but it's not good to use caps in a formal letter, nor is it wise to email the company after only one day. Yeah, if it was two days then maybe it would be understandable to the company, but even then it's a long shot.

No one is going to get a free application from anything. We're not going to be "rewarded for waiting" because honestly a whole lot of you are just being very, very impatient. It will come no matter what, or how long. It'll be here. But you guys all just kind of have to settle down and wait. Go watch a movie, listen to music, sleep, relax. All you guys should get this out of your heads and make time fly by, and before you know it you'll be downloading the official 2.0 software and you'll be happy you waited.

Well I just woke up from a massive headache, went and took a leak and thought... let me see if it's up and running...

226.6MB is screaming down into my computer with the new iPod Touch Update...

and in a little while I'll be having it up and running.

I guess they did manage to pull it off just in the nick of time.

So much for free stuff from Apple then huh?

;)

Wow good way to put everything that I had in my mind. But its Saturday on the east coast so I have all day!

been waiting forever, you'd think Apple would learn a thing or two from big software launches and really work to ensure their servers are THAT scaleable. yet again, easier to say than do.

Well DUH. If Apple is looking to benefit from the publicity of big roll out days such as this/big announcements then they have to be willing to pay for the risk that they mess them up big time.

P.S. Of course, even if I HAD 2.0 on my iPod as I finger type this, I still wouldn't have been able to copy and paste the text of the story.
