2.1 isn't working for me at the moment. iTunes 8 didn't install correctly on my desktop, but it's on this laptop. Too bad my home computer is the desktop.

For those downloading the link, use firefox, not Safari. Safari does something weird resulting in a folder rather than an ipsw file. It's fine if you download using firefox.

Genius on G1 Touch

Is it just me or the genius feature is not in the 2.1 update for the G1 touch?

Well for me the preformance of 2.1 on my touch is amazing :)

the lag is gone everything is snappy including the apps. :D

I'm happy apple worked the laggy keyboard out to and safari isn't as slow when responding to input too. Overall an excellent update.

Also i'm shaking the ipod touch and no luck with having the shuffle feature like that of the new nano

ah well overall the bugs in terms of laggyness of fixed.

2.1 installed from iTunes via automatic update. Everything went smoothly and my iPod is now running it. A few new things I notice at first glance:
- Version is 2.1 (5F137)
- Playlist/Songlists now display the album and artist in addition to the title of the song
- Genius is wierd :p
- Shake to shuffle doesn't work

I've browsed the forums and I've seen no mention of the one feature that alot of people wanted - Push notification.

So i take it, it isn't included in 2.1?

No, it was reported on Engadget and tuaw a while back that this had been pulled from 2.1

It was removed from the beta.

Have to say it's really big improvement. Everything that was snappy in 1.1.4 is snappy again and the apps install sooo much faster than they did in 2.0 almost like they do in the Apple adverts.

I think they have changed the Music track listings to two lines? Seems to be much more text on the screen than I remember previously. Might be imagining it.
