True, but... if FedEx says they will have it to me by a certain time I feel like they need to follow through with that. When it first shipped, they gave me an estimate of the 15th, and then later they moved it up to the 12th at 10:30. If they adjust the delivery time to sooner than expected, they better be able to pull it off. That's just how I see it.

I personally will be disappointed if my iPod Touch doesn't make it by Friday as currently projected but mainly because I'm seeing lots of posts from people who simply picked one up at their local store and are enjoying it already. But, one way of looking at it positively is that our units will have a few less days worth of wear and tear on them than everyone else's. :D

When a device is pre-ordered you expect to receive it the same day it's being sold in stores. That's how it's been with every electronic device I've pre-ordered. Granted, Apple didn't promise release date delivery (how could they when there was no official release date?)

I'm disappointed in how Apple's released the touch. Seems like they think "it's only a touch" and it doesn't matter.

I agree. I'm really disappointed with this sorry excuse for a "product launch". I'm sure it'll still be a fantastic device, of course, but...

Ah well. Come tomorrow morning I'll have a better idea of whether I'll get my preorder or not. I'm more pissed at FedEx for letting it sit in China for a day and then Alaska for another day after that. They better do overnight flights out of Memphis, or else they'll be missing those delivery dates.

So I called my local apple store even though I have mine preordered on amazon. They have them! I drove over and played with them and the lust instantly kicked in. Was about to buy it right then and there but after playing with it for a hour the "lust" faded a bit and I was about to just walk out.

I'm proud of myself, because buying from amazon saves me 30 dollars. Go me!

I'm in Canada as well (in Ontario), and the shipment is coming via UPS. So maybe UPS is handling Canadian orders, while FedEx is shipping to the US.

Mine's scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

If you don't mind me asking, which part of Canada are you in? And has your arrival date changed at all or has it been set on the 12th the whole time?

I see

Perhaps I am being a bit impatient. At the very least, I'd like to know for sure that FedEx's estimated time is close to when I'll actually receive the shipment. If it's going to arrive later due to delays, the least they could do is move the estimate, right? Maybe I just don't have enough faith in the FedEx, though :p It very well could still arrive tomorrow, I really have no idea... I suppose I'll find out tomorrow though :)

It has been saying it will arrive on the 12th right from the start.

I'm in southwestern Ontario, which in the past has always been considered part of "zone 1" for shipments from Apple, so we generally get in on the earliest delivery dates (in cities, at least).

my order finally changed to depart Anchorage...this happened at 4:12pm local AK time with an estimated arrival date and time of tommorow at 10:30 am...weird...so as Project538 was stating earlier, my package has been sitting in Anchorage for the LAST TWO DAYS....weird....maybe they are finally gonna airplane it to our regional centers directly????? I just don't see how a truck will be able to travel from AK to CA in 24 hours....

Yep, mine left Anchorage at the same time as yours, and it isn't on a truck. it's on a plane. After doing a little research, I now believe that FedEx will still meet that 10:30 estimate. The airplane that left Alaska at 4:12pm AKDT lands at 12:25am CDT in Memphis. I checked FedEx's prior flight schedule from Memphis to Des Moines, IA (which is where FedEx shipments come through for me), and for the past few mornings they've had the same flight that leaves Memphis around 4am and arrives in Iowa around 6am. This leaves them plenty of time to drive it to my house by 10:30am :) Once your package is sorted at Memphis, it'll be out of there by like 6am Central time, since package sorting is done overnight. It'll be on an early morning flight to your local FedEx distribution center, and bravo! You've got your package by 10:30. I didn't think it was possible at first, but looking into it a little more, I see how they do it now :) I can't wait for tomorrow morning :)

It can't... The trip would be at least 5 days :p

NOTE: As stated by Project538 earlier, there is a flight FedEx FDX28 that left Anchorage at 4:12, the same time FedEx says our iPods left there. Coincidence? Maybe, but I'll be tracking that flight :p

I see what you are saying yes if it does have a delay they are supposed to move up the date if not you will get it tomorrow :)

Homeschool for the win! Worked my butt off yesterday and today so I'd have Friday morning free. I might read a little, and I need to clean off my desk if I hope to take any unboxing pics... Right now it's a mess! So that's my morning :) ah, I'm so excited!!

I wish mine came in tomorrow (12th). Fedex says it should be in by Monday. It's probably because I live in Hawaii. But there's still time ;)

just got an email from apple

"We are delighted to tell you that we plan to ship your order earlier than we had anticipated. We now plan to ship your order by the 22.10.2012.

Once your order ships, you will receive your Dispatch Notification email, which will contain tracking information."
