iPod touch iPod Touch 5G Release Date

man, finally, resellers seem to receive new ipod touch in their inventory. today employee called me that limited number of ipod touch, nano will be available to buy tomorrow. of course, I made a reservation two weeks ago. I preordered mine through online. but it seems to delay longer than I expected. so tomorrow I will get it, and cancel online. I can't wait to play it.

Today's the day, I'm excited for all of you! Can't wait to see what everyone thinks once they start using them.
As a side note, I wanted to share my general battery usage number after about a day since charging. I barely reached the 20% warning just now with these usage numbers:
Usage: 6 Hours, 15 minutes
Standby: 20 Hours, 7 minutes
This is with Brightness @ 75% the whole time. Through that time, I've browsed the internet heavily, watched lot's of YouTube videos, played several games (Nova 3, Batman the Dark Knight, Galaxy on Fire 2 HD and some others that weren't so intensive) and a few other miscellaneous things.
I'm very pleased with these numbers considering I used to have to constantly charge my 4G iPod Touch. I'm sure it's partly because the 4G was over 2 years old and the battery was just older and didn't hold a charge as well.

Mine is at the destination sort facility in Des Moines! If I recall correctly, you get one final status update once it's been loaded onto a truck and sent out, so be on the lookout for that
If FedEx meets their delivery estimate I should have it around 2 hours from now! So exciting
oh, I live in Korea nowadays due to my business. there is no official apple store. there are couple of premium stores. one of them is 'Frisbee' which mostly get inventory first in Korea. they called me this evening again. new ipod touch, nano will be coming in store tomorrow morning. so I will go to buy it. oh, I made a reservation three weeks ago.

Yeah, I'd camp out by the front door and not leave that spot until it's in your hands.
Might be a good idea just to have a box cutter ready and open it right there when it's delivered to ensure that it's actually in the box as well!

Once I ordered an iPod touch and everything was there except the touch.
Called apple and returned it, they didn't know how it happened but they said they were sorry

It doesn't help that today is garbage day so every truck I hear has me excited.
Oh that's funny! I have a similar problem; there's some minor construction work going on around the corner and trucks keep driving in that direction... far too many fake-outs for my liking. I'm really jittery right now. I don't know why, but them missing the estimated time has me nervous. I mean, I know it's on a delivery truck because my tracking website says so, but I'm worried as to when exactly it will arrive.
Will anyone else be home to sign for it if your not there? If you go to your Apple Store status page you can print out a sheet to tape to your door to give the driver instructions as to what to do with the package. Otherwise if no one signs for it he'll take it back.

Oh yeah, someone else will be here. I've made sure of that, because the last thing I want to happen is have it held all weekend...
Besides, I don't work until 3. That's plenty of time. I may not get a chance to set it up before I leave, but at least I'll have it. I'm hoping he shows up within an hour or so.
You'll have it at some point today, that's all that matters. At least it's today and not like the original Monday estimate you were given.
I know, it's really tough/exciting. All that anticipation and you can almost feel it about to boil over like a volcano about to erupt.

side question to take your mind and focus off the front door, what do you think of the supposed rumors of an iPad Mini announcement coming coming this month? Would you have picked up your iPod Touch if you knew this was coming so soon?

Yes, definately. I personally am not a big fan of the idea of a smaller iPad. I have an iPad already, and between it, my Mac, and my old iPod, I think I really only need the iPod and Mac.
Now granted, the iPad is pretty nice for reading textbooks, but in that case I wouldn't want to read them on a 7ish" screen.
I think it's going to be very, very interesting to see where they price it. If they can hit the $199 mark that could, in my opinion, destroy the rest of the 7 inch tablet market. However, I don't see that as very likely, and if the device is too much more expensive I really don't see it selling very well. The 7.85" size seems like a weird one to me as well. It's almost... not small enough to be different, if that makes sense. Then again, all I have are the renderings to go by, and it may feel totally great once I get my hands on one.
Either way, I was aware of the iPad mini rumors and chose to purchase an iPod touch anyway. I like having a device for my pocket (iPod touch) as well as a tablet device (currently, my iPad 2) and a computer (my iMac). My iPad never really leaves the house, so a more portable one doesn't make much sense for my needs. If the iPad mini ends up being cheap enough and/or there's some cool feature they introduce with it, I may ask for one as a Christmas gift, but other than that I see no real need for me to own one. Besides, my pocketable hardware was getting extremely outdated. My iPad 2 still works great, but my 2nd gen touch... not so much. That was the priority device to replace, so when it came down to buying something I chose to go for the iPod.

Unfortunately, my delivery is coming through Austin and I live in the suburbs. Those delivery guys usually don't make it up to my area until later in the day. Like yourself I'm anxiously awaiting this shipment so I can start messing with my new toy. Every time a truck rolls past I'm out of my chair looking out the window....
