)Never had an iPod Touch issue. I had an issue with my original iPad and the screen on it. Took it to the apple store and got a perfect one.
I figure with this, the screen production is already going through several million iterations with the iPhone 5 so hopefully no issues with these. If nothing else, I have the luxary of an apple store about 15 minutes from me to resolve any problems.

I'm going to wait until closer to Christmas, but I did see this report about the Australian online store showing 3 weeks for the iPod Touch.

Where will the Apple Retail Store release date be visible? Will that be the date, unveiled in the Apple Online Store next to the iPod? I can't remember how this has been done with other products...

I expect them to possibly have bugs similar to the iPhone 5 (scuffing/dents, bluetooth issues in some, and wifi issues in some). I hope they come out perfect because I am going to get one but I'm waiting a bit to let others beta test them. That's why I never pre-order and I wait until a unit tear-down and the report from others of no issues.

I haven't preordered as I'm hoping to get it in store.
Wow, very cool, I didn't see this before. Hopefully this is a worldwide release date and th rest of the worlds ships as well!
I agree, I rang my local Apple reseller in NZ and I was told they are awaiting shipment and should be here sometime in the next few weeks. Looks like we won't have to wait until late October/early November.
Yep! Next week would be perfect because it is the last week of my holidays and I could get everything sorted before school starts.
No one knows. I'd assume those that preordered initially will most likely see their devices ship out next week (if they are truly shipped).
it's very obvious. apple completely has been constrained to follow high demand. it's actually proven since iPhone 5 preorder has been over 5 mils. the number is not even seemed real. most people will suffer from a long wait, excepted people who preordered before. I also wait it here in Korea. but unlikely US or several countries in Europe, there is no official iTunes store (only app store) here. plus, there is no official apple store. people don't feel any advantage to use iphone or ipod touch here. if you use android based devices, it will be much easier & helpful. so the demand would be much lower than I expect. so I will easily get mine.
I'm with those who are suggesting that Apple will start shipping iPod Touches in the coming week. The fact that orders with engraving have gone into shipment preparation status combined with reports of Apple stores in Japan planning to start selling next week makes it pretty likely we'll see many of the first pre- orders going out soon. Looking forward to the new model, it's been too long since the iPod Touch has received an update!
Hey do you happen to have a very reliable site that also says this? I'm not so sure I trust it. Although it would be amazing to have it shipped by the 9th or 10th, its highly unlikely. Apple still has not released a date as of 1:00 AM EST 10-7-12 and those dates are just a couple days away. You would think that they would at least tell you that you are about to be sent to. Also, I and many others, have not been changed from "processing" to "preparing to ship" and they probably wont change the orders twice in 3 days. I really hope those days are correct because I would LOVE to have it in my hands by the 13th. My theory (which is probably HORRIBLY wrong) for why they haven't given a date is that they may not know. With preorders multiplying each day, they have to seriously think about when they can ship all of these out. Again thats probably wrong and maybe they just like watching us struggle. It may also be a good buisness strategy with all these people talking about it. Who knows? Oh well, I just really want this thing.
