If the iPhone is too thin for anything more than a 2MP camera, I think we can pretty much rule out an internal camera for the iPod Touch.

end of the day iPods are music driven, yes the touch has the jan update with the mail app and what not but there really isn't a need for a camera. Your mobile phone probably has a camera on it why not just use that and sync photos at home and be done with it

I thin that even a connector so that u can connect any camera to ur touch or any photo ipod would be great! that way u can free up space on ur camera and automatically have ur pics on ur touch so u can send (with wifi) and edit them where ever u are. I think there is a camera connector but it doesn't work on the touch. Maybe they will come up with a new one. Who knows:confused::confused::confused:

stop with the laser pointer thing. Its not that great.

The laser pointer thing IS THAT GREAT. I mean who wouldnt want to listen to music while shining high intensity light into someones eyes? Heck, if they made the camera you could take a picture of the poor sob while hes crying and rubbing his eyes!!! BRILLIANT!!!!!

Sure....

Apple would never put a camera on any ipod that one of the great distinctions between the iphone and an ipod.

The ipod touch DOES need a camera.

And good god, dont say its a "music player" my ipod touch does more than any PDA ive seen in my life. It has a FASTER CPU AND MORE RAM THAN SOME OF MY OLDER COMPUTERS. ie: my imac G3 500mhz 256mb ram, my ipod 640mhz (under clocked to 412mhz) and 512mb of ram. What "music player" has wifi, multi-touch screen, and mac os x? You name one.

BTW, i typed this with my music player.

I don't think the iPod needs a camera, but the camera as an attachment is a pretty good idea.

It gives people what they want without actually sullying the iPod itself.

Apple needs to open up apps to be able to use the dock port. Now THAT could spawn some interesting things...

The Touch has a beautiful screen. As with the iPhone it's delightful as a viewfinder, and also for viewing photos you've taken. I think a camera, one better than the iPhone's, would be a great add-on for the Touch. You wouldn't have to buy one. It should have it's own flash, blend nicely with the Touch design, cost $99, and even have it's own battery pack. You could instantly add photos to your contacts or tag them for upload to flicker or similar sites. You could delete or do basic editing, change capture size, and so on. You would find a photographer's app pack at the app store to add even more fine control over the camera. Showing it off to your iphone-owning friends would make them insanely jealous. Then surprise them with the fact it will snap onto the iPhone too.

My point? Even the iPhone could stand a better camera. Make one that works with Touches and they'll buy it too.

I really really hope they don't listen to any of you. EVERYONE has a cell phone with a camera. EVERYONE carries their phone with them at all times. If your looking to take quick, crappy pictures then just use that one. I don't want the added bulk to my Touch for a camera that 90% of people wouldn't use. The only people that want it are the kids under 16 years old that think it will be cool.

What I would really like would be an ipod touch with at least a 12 mp camera able to record full 1080 video, a gps, a built in microphone, stereo speakers, Bluetooth wireless charging at least 100 gb storage.
And you can't forget iMovie '09 Togo!

except I dont hve a use for a phone. I just txt and I do that through email. But there are a lot of times that I would like to take a picture but I'm not a retard that carries a phone a camera, and an iPod.

If you have no use for a phone, why are you carrying one? Plus, if you're carrying a phone, why would you need to carry a camera?

u have a great idea with the flikr thing. KEEP EM COMING. IF I GET ENOUGH ILL TELL APPLE ABOUT IT!!! Maybe they will think about it.

Don't bother, it'll just go straight into the trash.

but i want gps :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
but i want it on my ipod touch

Too bad. You want those features, get an iPhone, because iPod touch ain't getting them. That's like saying I want Gainestown in my Mac mini when it comes out. Ain't gonna happen.

The ipod touch DOES need a camera.

It's not a "music player", it's a multimedia player. Its primary function is to listen to or watch media. And where did you get the idea your iPod touch had 512 mb of ram? It has 128mb. And just because it has a faster clockspeed doesn't mean it's faster. Comparing desktop processors to iPod processors are like comparing Apples and Oranges. Rest assured, your iMac G3 has far more processing power than the iPod touch. Actually plenty of multimedia players today have wifi, touch screen and an operation system. For example, look at offerings from Archos.

There is no need for a camera on the iPod touch. Not only does it potentially take away iPhone's market share, it is plain useless and a waste of space. An iPod is primarily intended for media contents. Some of its PDA-esque features are just bonuses, not main attraction.

camera

:mad:If they can fit a camera into a mac book air, they should be able to make one that you can plug into a usb slot.

It would be cool to have it on an ipod touch if you weren't able to afford the iphone. ( mostly the plan) The touch would be thicker though, but I don't see that being a problem.

then get an iphone...
easy huh?

But some of us can't get an iPhone- like those that live in rural America...I wish it had one built in, but would never add it on. I want my devices smaller- not larger!!! I already have a camera on my phone I don't really use.

I use something really cool called photographic equipment for taking my pictures. :D

Be an entreprenuer youself and get a camera produced and make your millions- don't give the idea to someone else- take the money yourself!!!:D

No really- thinking from a marketing stand point- there woudl be NO cannibalization of the iPhone- really- what customer is going to be holding an iphone and an iPod touch and say- You know what-I really don't need that phone part, but hey- that camera there- that is the deal maker!!!

also, when are you someplace where you need a camera but only have your iPod- no phone or camera? The gym? Only for illegal shots there! Where else?

Put the camera on the touch!!!!

For the people that say buy the phone. I already have one thank you. They say the touch is a micro computer well ya. My macbook will not be replaced by the touch but they will be very good friends. MacBooks have built in cameras why can't the touch? I don't want to sign a contract to have a camera on my iPod. I don't want to buy an iPhone on eBay just to have a camera on my iPod. AT&T does not service my area so to buy an iPhone off eBay dumb have a phone I won't be able to use. Put the camera on the touch u will have the market of people that don't have at&t service in there area buying these things up like candy
