I thought it was an iMac screen. But...

Black Photo

The photo of the black one shows rounded corners of the lighted screen.

My nano has very crisp and clear 90degree corners. No rounding at all.

How about iPod video, anyone see rounding on theirs?

I will be watching Digg very closely. alex broke the last two release in the 24hours prior to release so I expect he's a good bet for next week.

There are only two Chinese characters in the whole picture - on the brown tape/cardboard stuck on the connector. I believe all the earlier posts (including mine) are referring to them. If you see any other, please point them out 'cos I can't spot them!

Thanks, but I was only kidding (as was nagromme - sorry to out him!)

By the way, I'd like to add that I think nagromme and I are both hilarious.

yes the black one is made with photoshop cs2 on a mac, according to the jpg data openend with a text editor.

edit: I did not mean it was produced in photoshop but that it has been in photoshop. this could be just for saving for the web. sorry I should not have used the word "made". the picture looks real to me.

So hang on we have two photos, both of the same object both in exact current ipod styles and colours, both with chinese built leverge on the photos, both the same type scale... anyone thinking its getting more real?

Doesn't look very ergonomic. How would you hold it? Or grip it to plug in the cable? Or strap it so something like a lanyard? My guess is this is a fake, or more likely simply a prototype, but I don't think they would release this exactly.

I easily removed the photoshop info by printing it in save as pdf form, then saving as bmp, and changed extension to .jpg

why can't people think of this when they are photshopping.

My iPod photo will get retired if this is real.. I hope its real.. :) I would even give up using Firewire to have one of these.. pfft iPod Video is such a waste lacking so much to gain so little...

This wouldn't be too unexpected. There are existing docks / peripherals apple would want a video ipod to interface with. This would be evidenced by the inclusion of the "dock adapter" piece of plastic in the Nano. Aside from screen size, what would be so different between the form factors of a 5g ipod and a video ipod?

i'm not totally convinced about the cut copy and paste marks someone mentioned earlier. Why would anyone put a sticker on the screen of an ipod? Don't ipods ship with a plastic film over the front? Look at the brown label on the plug. There's a white highlight on it which looks like it's the tab for film on the screen of the device. What could be cut/copy marks look like they would align with screen film. Who knows.

Update:

Interestingly... the proportion between the labels on the leaked images of the 5G (http://guides.macrumors.com/Image:5G_ipod_leaked.jpg) and this new image are pretty close...

 Anybody noticed the the black spot in the bottom right corner???
I presume that that's the place where the date of the photo is!!!
Why would anyone wanted to hide this when it's not fake????:D

Because if you know what time it was taken you would know who was in the factory at the time and could narrow down who actually took the pictures. Apple have a habit of firing anyone who takes pictures of unreleased products...

I wonder what the resolution is on this thing? I assume it's 853 x 480?
That's unlikely because it's an odd number, which screens almost never are (I've never seen one), and it's not divisible by 8, which screens usually are. Other good possibilities might be:

768 x 480
800 x 500
640 x 400
512 x 320

768 x 480 would make sense (for this nonexistent device!). That would match 480 lines of DV video's height and be in keeping with Apple's preferred 16:10 aspect ratio for "wide" screen (as opposed to HDTV's 16:9). 640 x 400 or 512 x 320 seem most likely to me considering the size.

What's up with the silver trim around the sides and oval-ish shape? It doesn't look like an iPod but w/e, if it's touchscreen and plays video...

It's chinese, not japanese, and says "This Way" or better said "This way up".

Can anyone here speak Japanese? Do they know what it says on the connector?

Probably, ha-ha you suckers!
