No matter what, this video is great!!!
mmmm....

compare the original with the last frame of the "movie".

they are different!

1) no international "7" on the barcode label

2) the part number in the original is a "B", in the movie it is an "8"

... good job, tho!

What kind of processor would this iPod (if it's true) have to have? On the current 5G iPods there's a really noticeable lag for playing videos, using the calendar etc. I hope Apple use something with a bit more power this time.
Isn't the lag simply the hard disk spinning up? Only flash storage can avoid that--which means only small-capacity iPods.

Now this is getting obnoxious. The video shows how it could be faked, but it's a recreation :(

Agreed--from your image (the video isn't loading for me) it does NOT seem to be showing the creation of the original image. You could take any real photo and make a video about faking a similar photo.

Is there something more conclusive to be found elsewhere in the video?

I just noticed something bizarre. Go to Google Netherlands Image Search here, and do a search for lcd color test like in the movie. The picture of the dude with the television doesn't come up.

You're right!!...guys...I'm scared.

There's a thread on the main MR page declaring this a fake now based on the video:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/182944/

I find this video more dubious than the original photo--but I won't judge until I see it. It's finally start to load (slowly) for me and the musical montage at the beginning is cracking me up :)

OK, it's definitely NOT showing the creation of the original image--although it could be the same guy "doing it over" because he didn't document the first time.

Fun with Fishiness:

* The hand-drawn parts (tape markings AND the foreground scribbling at the end) don't match: he draws one thing that doesn't match the original image, then cuts to a version that does match.

* He places a pure, solid, untextured EPS of the testbars... but never shows how the realistic LCD moire was introduced. What better way to do that than to take a picture of your Mac screen with the testbars displayed? And place THAT instead? I can't think how placing an EPS makes sense.

So this is a reconstruction--which doesn't mean the original is real, of course.

(Also--he has a Belkin-or-whatever cable, but seeing him take a picture of the barcode would have been more convincing. As would seeing more details, such as about the colors shining through the label, instead of just "filter filter filter.")

Fun no matter what :)

oh my god!!Secret embedded SJ image in video ipod mockup!

when i boosted the levels on the image, this appeared!!
WHAT DOES IT MEAN??
Guys, I'm really scared!

Hi-Fi images!

Here's the scoop on the Hi-Fi. Apparently, you will be able to control all media devices in your entire home!! This would make sense, as Apple has recently filed patents for "spinning devices enabling home media retrieval and manipulation via telepathic input from carbon-based apparati" Strangely enough, this particular device features not one, but TWO giant click wheels, apparently controlled with the user's entire hand. Also, this device apparently takes advantage of the new Flash Memory Agreements that Apple has put into place with Toshiba and others. This particular device features the smallest flash memory chips yet, at only .5" square per 5GB, but will contain 200 of them! The device retails for only $49, but apparently, iTunes songs will now cost upwards of $200 each, per changes in the DRM agreements.

Hey, I just pass the news along as I get it from the source! Apparently, they are trying to make profit in the music, not in the hardware...much like Gillette did with their affordable Mach 12 shaver and expensive refill blades.

Asian Writing?

Hi everyone!

I'm new here, and haven't had time to look around too much yet. I just wanted to know if anyone has been able to find out what that asian writing means?

Thanks! :)

That's a very good point - What do the asian characters mean?

;)

Huh? I don't get it. What do they mean? If you [or anyone] knows, please tell me.

I'm just know starting to read through the threads because I just signed up. If this has already been answered and I just haven't come across it yet, I apologize.

Thanks! :)

N/P welcome!!

What the script actually means is "This Is Fake"

According to the video, it means "This Side Up"

Oh, thanks! :)

I just saw that this question was answered way earlier in this thread. There's just so many pages... :(

I haven't seen the video yet. I'm going to right now.

Thanks again! :)

Really? It means "This Is Fake"?

That's much funnier than "This Side Up", but I would think that if someone was really trying to fool everyone, it would be something like "This Side Up".

I think "Peace" is just messing with me! ;) lol!!!

Nah, the video doesn't mean anything - as has been mentioned way earlier, "it's an ancient Chinese proverb which translates roughly as 'Book of Power 5G, Tuesday next'".

:p

:p

Just read the comments at engadget. A few people posted that it meant "this side"... supposedly meaning "this side up".

Discussion seems to have moved to the new thread on the MR home page:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/182944/
...where the video "discrediting" the Flickr photo has ITSELF been soundly discredited :D Fakes within fakes within fakes :) And we STILL don't know for sure :D

Food for thought: apparently Apple has recently been starting to use a widescreen format for some of their iTunes videos :)
http://looprumors.com/index.php?itunes-videos-changing-format
EDIT: This is in dispute--I choose NOT to believe anything has changed unless a concrete example turns up. SOME videos have always been widescreen. Maybe someone just now noticed that, and reported it to LoopRumors. False alarm?

I don't think this has been addressed yet. If anyone can read Chinese, please speak up! I'm starting to get curious about those symbols too.

do you guys realize the person who made this is posting among us. It could be me, it could be you. Kinda freaky.

The jobs picture by the way is HILARIOUS!
