those links are both prototypes, and are not real.

...and how lucky we are for that. I just don't think that that is a good design. Nifty yes, but not pratical. You would have to carry it in some kind of case, and so you would say goodbye to grabbing the iPod off the dock and putting it into your pocket. You would pull it out and the screen would be all marked up and dirty and it would have finger prints if it was a touch screen. I am going to spend the money I want something rugged.

What would be the big advantage of a tablet over a laptop anyway? Aside from portability - and it wouldn't too much more portable anyway. What's the bet people would buy it, along with a separate keyboard and a stand to sit it on their desk.

All of a sudden, a laptop seems much more portable!

The full screen/touchscreen concept would work just fine - Apple just needs a new type of plastic coating. My Motorola E815's external display is scratch free - I've had the phone for a year, it's been through hell and any scratch I get from dropping it, keys in pocket, whatever - i just wipe away with my shirt. It's amazing how robust the screen is, I can't understand why Apple can't use a similar type of plastic. Most likely to fuel the accessory market

I believe you, but you don't need a fake FWHD to photoshop an iPod.

No I totally agree with you, just someone thought it looked like a cheese grater, and i knew what is was and thought it might help with scale, I thought it might be the carefully placed screen of a little portable dvd player.

Yeah, we're on the same page. I could never argue with a New Zealander anyway.:)

Tell me if anyone agrees, but now that I look at it I noticed something. Notice the size proportion of the "iPod" in front of the DVD case. It seems very small, no? What this looks like to me is just a pic of a regular 5G iPod with the bottom cut off. Any thoughts on this?

Well, we are a pretty peaceful bunch :) , You make films, I do audio for films (and other stuff) we are in the same industry, we use all Macs, you?

That seems to make alot of sense.

If they use a new type of plastic coating they would take care of my number one complaint, but if it is like the current iPod screens, I certainly wouldn't be one to bite.

Is it just me or did there used to be more posts? It seems like there were more pages and posts before. Maybe the mods removed some of the squabbling and repetitive posts.

You mean somebody reads these things?

Ok, how are you getting asian characters to show up right?

Guess not, so i'll prolly give it up. Anyway, i think there's enough discussion on the characters already :) BTW, as you said, the second character is written with an extra 'dot' so it's wrong.

Yes, the moderators have to read through each and every thread in its entirety at one time or another to check for spam, unnecessary most, among other things. Can anyone confirm that like 2 pages of posts were removed, because I have about 44 or 45 pages before and now I only get 42. I did NOT change the settings that dictate how many posts to a page. It's at 25.

I hope they didn't delete the post that explained the Chinese characters. I'd hate to go through that again.

BTW, is this product officially deemed fake yet?

Well, there is considerable evidence that its fake, but also considerable evidence that it could be real. I think I speak for everyone when I say that no one is 100% sure. Many of us think, me being on of them, that this picture itself is not necessarily real, but a product will be released that is very similar to this. We will just have to wait a few more days and see. ;)

Yeah I just checked and that whole squabble is gone now. Thank you!

And another one...

Thought this one is slightly more convincing than the others i've seen (apart from the original obviously)

I dub this image "Nosey."

I think you're right. The margins seem much fatter than in the other images, and that would explain why.

If it were pocketable and had a pop-up on-screen keyboard, then it's much more portable (and I'd want that). Otherwise, it would mainly be for hand-jotted note-taking, and for drawing, and for "cool factor." It could also be good at specialized things like portable music/media playback, with a simplified interface: it could do SOME things well even if it's second-best when it comes to general computing.

I see more use for a very small tablet than for a laptop-sized one.

(Big ones do have their uses in certain markets/niches: they can be used while standing and walking around.)
